Enjoy life TODAY!
Enjoy life today, because yesterday is gone and tomorrow is never promised!
Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;
the result being that he does not live in the present or the future;
he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.
– The 14th Dalai Lama
I Lived by One Republic
I have adopted this song as my theme song for training this year. My goal is to be able to run a marathon in December 2016.....or at least a half marathon. I have already encountered setbacks, but I have not given up on the goal. It is one that has been on my list for several years.
Being diagnosed with lupus continuously shows me how short life is. I read about so many other warriors dying on a daily basis. I read about so many giving up on their dreams simply because of the challenges that lupus presents. Yes, lupus is challenging, but we should take the risks and live all the great experiences that life gives us, and isn't afraid of anything.
We can´t expect life to be perfect or painless, but as long as we can move past our problems and make the most of the good moments, we´ll be okay in the end, and we can live a fulfilling life.
"So for every day that you're on this earth, for every minute that you have, the whole idea is doing nothing less than exactly what you feel you're supposed to do and squeezing every last drop out of life every day, regardless of the difficulties or trials that you face."
Live Like You Were Dying by Tim McGraw
A moment came that stopped me on a dime!
This song is written about when Tim McGraw found out that his dad had brain cancer, and the conversations and memories that ensued.
What would you do if you found out today that you were dying....if you were diagnosed with a terminal disease? How would you live life differently? Would your life take on a whole new outlook, or would you continue to live life like you had so much more time in front of you? I've always had a bucket list. Do you? This helps me to keep life in perspective.....to really live life each day as if it was the first day of the rest of my life.
To live like you were dying means that if you knew that you were dying in a little while, what would you do for your last day? Would you just sit around and mope and dread, or would you do everything you wanted to do or forgive someone you never forgave. When you would die would you regret the life you lost? This song is a very deep and thoughtful song that not a lot of music has.
Live Out Loud Stephen Curtis Chapman
Get the best out of life!
‘Live Out Loud.’ The initial video that I posted was a track of a special release by Maggie Sajak, which was inspired by Muriel Walters, a 16-year-old girl that Sajak met while working with "Music is Medicine’s Donate a Song" project. That link has since been made private, but I wanted to keep the basic message of her song. Like I said it was written about a young girl, Muriel. Muriel had been battling cancer at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and after Sajak met and spent time with her, she was inspired to write a song about getting the best out of life, despite what it hands out to you — and ‘Live Out Loud’ was born.
“I wanted to be able to have a positive impact on a patient’s life, and to make her smile,” Sajak says in a press release. “I also wanted to be able to inspire other patients and even those who are not suffering from cancer to lead a fuller life.”
The same idea is expressed in Steven Curtis Chapman's song "Live Out Loud," to remember that the life you have been given is so very special and you should live. It was given to you to be lived.
"Wake the neighbors, get the word out
Come on...crank up the music...climb a mountain and shout
This is the life we've been given made to be lived out
So la la la la live out loud
Live out loud, yeah"
I personally started creating my herbal remedies after getting ill from so many pharmaceuticals. For some time I did not share them with anyone, except in writing. After seeing so many questions about what I was using for healing, I decided to start an online store, and my business Sage and Thymely, Inc. was born. Based on positive responses, I know that there are many others who have been positively impacted by items that I make. The goal of life is to leave a legacy, is it not? So what will you do with the time you have left, sick or not sick? How will you impact others?
This Is Living by Hillsongs
Wake up knowing there's a reason for living!
There is only one way to truly live, and that’s by living for God! I wake up every morning knowing that the alternative was very possible.....that I possibly would not have woken up. Every day is a gift, and I thank God for that gift each day.
"Waking up knowing there's a reason
All my dreams come alive
Life is for living with You
I've made my decision"
Have you made that decision?
It's My Life by No Doubt
It's My Life by Bon Jovi
It's my life!
Yes, your life is your own and you get to make the calls and deal with the consequences.
You have one life to live and you are here for a short time on this earth. It is up too you to make your life great and live to your full potential. Don't give up on your dreams. Don't waste your life living up to everyone elses expectations. In the long run everyone else may be happy and you are miserable. Have fun, enjoy, create great times and memories. Remember it's your life!!
Have Hope and Passion!
This Is The Time by Billy Joel
This is the time! A Hopeful Warning...
Writing hit songs about life is Billy Joel's modus operandi. Seriously, nearly every memorable song in his discography relates in some way to living life to its fullest or remembering the good times. “This is the Time” is a reminder to remember the now because these are the good times. It is about enjoying the present, because things inevitably change, even if we wish they didn't. It's about not taking anyone important in your life for granted, because you never know when your relationship (or even life) will end.
It is rather like a hopeful warning. This IS the time to remember...
Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield
Don't be trapped by dogma!
I interpreted Unwritten to mean you being able to express yourself, live life to the fullest, do what your heart tells you because no one else can. Your life is still 'unwritten." Now, although I disagree with this part to a certain extent, I will not get into a biblical discussion here. I do believe, however, that YOU do have the ability to change your life, not fate or others but what You decide. You can wake up and make a conscious decision to use the life you have been given wisely or you can waste it away. It is your choice.
In the words of Steve Jobs, "We don't get a chance to do that many things, and everyone should really be excellent....Life is brief and then you die, you know.......Don't waste it living someone else's life...Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition."
I Believe I Can Fly by R. Kelly
Ode to Life
There's no sappier, sentimental ode to life and achieving your dreams than R. Kelly's classic song about life. Released on the "Space Jam" soundtrack, this song, much like its lyrics exhorted others to do, soon took off to the top of the charts.
I think this song is about realizing your ambitions and achieving them. It's trying to say that as long as you believe in yourself, you can achieve anything, even if it seems almost impossible.
Remember, it always seems impossible until it's done!
My Life by Billy Joel
We need other people! It is not just about our lives!
There are two ways in which this song can be interpreted:
1. I think it's easy to see that Billy Joel is writing the song about personal freedom - don't let anyone or anything control your life.
"I don't care what you say anymore, this is my life!"
This is what the song is all about right here. "Don't tell me what to do, I'll do what I want" is basically what he is saying.
2. However, I think it seems almost satirical, in my opinion. "This is my life" is very obviously saying just what it says. There is the idea of not needing anyone but yourself. However, we are social creatures by nature, and we do need other people, whether we believe it all of the time or not.
We can even interpret it this way. It is a song about a friend, a very good friend. Sometimes, friends know you better than anyone and you don't want to hear what they say when they tell you that youare wrong. I think he's trying to remind us of that. We may not want to hear it, and we may be angry.
I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack
Never stop living!
This song was sung by a student at one of the last High School graduations I attended. Even before then, it was always one of my favorite songs about living life...about knowing just how small we are in comparison to the rest of the universe. Maybe this is why am always looking up at the stars, not only to reach for them, but also to remember that there is so much more out there for me to explore, to attempt. This is also a song that tells how every moment changes... all we have to do is to be very active and energetic... whatever happens to our life, it may be sadness or happiness, always bring a smile and keep moving forward... for life is a constant change... just be positive...
It is a song about living life from the standpoint of doing a dance. Life will always throw you curbs and twists, but we need to remember that we need to keep dancing, to keep living, learning to dance in the rain. Dancing causes us to keep moving inventing new steps for every new beat.
Don't Waste Your Life by Lecrae
Life is not a spectator sport!
"Life is not a spectator sport. If you're going to spend your whole life in the grandstand just watching what goes on, in my opinion you're wasting your life." Jackie Robinson
"Time = life; therefore, waste your time and waste of your life, or master your time and master your life." Alan Lakein
"Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure." Oprah Winfrey
I can by Nas
Yes, I can!
‘I can’ is one of the most positive songs made by the legendary rap artist, Nas. This is also Nas’s highest charting single. The song depicts a bunch of children singing the chorus and Nas rapping thereafter. This song never gets old. It should be present in everyone’s play-list. It sample’s Beethoven’s Fur elise with a very empowering message by Nas. A classic in every sense!
In The End by Linkin Park
The clock ticks life away!
Linkin park is known for its uplifting songs and this one is certainly the best one they’ve ever made. All I know...Time is a valuable thing....Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings.....Watch it count down to the end of the day.....The clock ticks life away......
What legacy will you leave behind?
Two great songs with the same name: Forever Young.
Jay Z's song basically asks the question: What legacy will you leave behind?
Rod Stewart's song is every parent's song to their children. Its about being there for your kids and leading by example. All parents want their children to have integrity and dignity. Guiding your children to the right path and away from those who do not possess those qualities.
Forever Young by Rod Stewart
Earth Song by Michael Jackson
Love and care for everything around us!
This song depicts a message to love and care for everything around us. The video of the song made people cry when they watched it for the first time. Another masterpiece by the legendary Michael Jackson, Earth song will evoke all the latent emotions within your soul. A must listen! What have we done to the world.....Look what we’ve done......What about all the peace......That you pledged your only son........
Don't Stop Believing by Journey
Chase your dreams!
The core theme of this songs is to chase your dreams and do what you want to do. This song has been motivating people since a very long time. This is a must listen for all those who love being motivated. Absolute Rapture can be felt through the song. One of the best songs from the legendary group, Journey, Don’t stop believing is a timeless classic.
Some will win, some will lose
Some are born to sing the blues
And now the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on
Life is measured by the moments that take our breath away!
Lose Yourself by Eminem
Lose yourself in the music, the moment!
This song depicts motivation at its peak. Eminem’s music, when not profane, is undoubtedly one of the best sources of motivation. I happen to love his music. That may come as a shock to many of my friends. Lose yourself is an epitome of storytelling by the Detroit rapper. The track has won numerous awards including an Oscar. It was declared an instant classic post its release. You Better, lose yourself in the music, the moment..You own it, you better never let it go (go)You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow. This opportunity comes once in a lifetime -
Life only happens once!

I enjoyed this playlist and your reflections. I am currently in a hold pattern waiting to see if I get a lupus diagnosis. I already have had MS for about 15 years so I'm not looking for an add on. This just suddenly came on with a bout of scleritis. But I've always taken control of my own life and tried to make the best of it.

I have a list like you do. Right now, I'm stuck on a song by a positive musician named Daniel Nahmod. His song, One Power, means the world to me right now as I'm studying to become a Licensed Unity teacher. Unity teachings are based on a language of Oneness, with a focus on prayer and meditation, implementing Jesus' teachings into our everyday life. But there are many songs that resonate in my heart. I'm glad I'm not alone in that! Have a great day!
Gina Welds Hulse (author) from Rockledge, Florida on March 03, 2016:
Yes! Exactly, Kathleen. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Do you have a favorite go-to song....or are you like me.....you have a list??
Kathleen Kerswig on February 28, 2016:
I love that moment when I suddenly hear a song that inspires and motivates me. Lyrics can be so powerful. I have found myself relating to certain songs in such a way that I link up certain memories to the song I am relating to at the time. Thank you for the topic. Blessings!
