10 Activities I Like to Do in Summertime

My husband and I love exploring new places. Currently, we reside in Utah. Someday, we would like to travel all across the United States.

Summer is the best time to be outside and getting the sun as much as we can.

Summer is the perfect time for us to do outdoor activities. Though this year is a little bit different on how we can enjoy the summer vacation, I try to enjoy it as much as I can with extra care. If I go walking outside, I'd be wearing a mask and try to be six feet away from others. During this time, it's essential to be diligent and aware of the surroundings when we are outside.

Before moving to the US, I have never done some of the activities and some I had. For example, I have never made salsa in my life, and now it becomes one of the things that I like to do before the summer ends. The other thing is that I never drink green juice in Malaysia. It has never been in my diet. However, after I moved here, I have exercised more than I have been before, and I love drinking a green smoothie as my post work out.

I hope the activities can bring ideas and tips for you to get healthy and stress-free. Remember it's not too late to enjoy the activities you like during the summertime with your family. Have a great summer everyone!

Summer is the best time to exercise. Usually, I prefer working out in the morning after a simple breakfast. I started with a cup of coffee and a fruit bar. Sometimes, I cheat with a blueberry muffin. I like to combine my exercise with cardio, lifting weights, and running on a treadmill. If you don't have any exercise equipment at home, don't worry. Put on your walking shoes or sneakers and go walk outside in your neighborhood.

During summer, one of my favorite drinks to make, besides iced coffee, is fruit smoothies. You'll be amazed at how making smoothies at home so easy. By the way, you'll save a lot of money rather than buying them at the store. The best thing about making smoothies at home, you can choose what type of fruit or vegetable that you want. Usually, I drink a smoothie as my post work out. However, I also like it in the afternoon while I was sitting on the porch.

Salsa is a summer recipe that I usually never missed to make at home. I first learn how to make salsa from my mother-in-law. By the way, summer is a perfect time to jar your homemade salsa. I like to go to a farmer's market to get fresh ingredients for making salsa. This year, I will do the same.

Grilling on a porch or at the backyard is a requisite activity during summer. As much as it is a hot day in June or July, grilling is a fun activity with your family. Decor your porch or backyard with a picnic table, chairs, plates, cups, and utensils, you are ready to smell delightful smell from the meat burning on the charcoal grill. I don't have a backyard, so I enjoy grilling on my porch.

Fresh fruits are easy to find during summertime. I love getting myself pineapple, watermelon, oranges, raspberries, mangoes, and many others. I eat more fresh fruit during summer rather than fall or winter. The juiciness of the fruits is perfect for the hot weather.

Summer is the perfect time to do a new activity. Before moving to the US, I have never played basketball. My husband used to play while he was in high school. I love trying something that I never have done before. By the way, I used to play netball in high school so, it is a little bit similar to that. This summer, I have asked my husband to teach me how to play basketball. I have fun playing and shooting the ball into the net. We play at the park where it has a basketball hoop.

Believe it or not, walking is one of the best exercises you can do if you're not a fan of high-intensity activity. Before I started exercising, I love walking in the park. It doesn't take a lot of time to think about what you should be wearing and where to go. If there is no park by your house, you can walk by the neighborhood. Trust me, walking can take away your stress and clear your mind.

Everyone loves eating popsicle during summertime. My husband and I are fans of fruit bars or popsicles. Most of the time, we have it while watching tv or while sitting outside on a porch. My favorite is pineapple and mango flavor.

So, one of my favorite things to do while simmering hot weather in the afternoon is drinking iced coffee. I love making iced coffee at home. From iced vanilla latte to cold brew coffee, you name it. I have done it! Iced coffee is a perfect companion during summertime. I like sipping the coffee while sitting outside on the porch or while reading a book.

Last but not least, before the summer ends, I like to clean up and organize inside the house. Before transitioning to Fall, I make sure the house remains tidy. Therefore, I clean up a specific area such as the bathroom, closet, and office. While cleaning up, I like opening the window to let the sun brightens, especially in the living room and the bedroom. Fresh air is the best to start your day. Besides, clean up and organize gives me extra activities to do if I don't want to go outside.

Thank you, FlourishAnyway. My mother-in-law has an apricot tree and an apple tree. I remember picking up these fruits during summer last year. However, this year seems a little bit different. The trees do not produce healthy-looking fruits. Have a great summer!

Thank you, Lora. I tried to do as many as I could to be stress-free at home. I started my day by work out in the morning. A green smoothie or fruit smoothie is one of my favorites as a post-workout drink. I hope you try to make one because I'm sure you'll like it! I love your suggestions for fun activities to do in the summer. Walking is a great way to exercise and to help relieve stress. I love to walk my dogs in the park too.
