This study was conducted among 12,000 U.S. adults aged 18 to 74 who were tested over two years. Results found that participants who consumed an average drink made by combining two cups of green tea in an espresso drink were 20 percent less likely to have diabetes, 37 percent less likely to have high blood pressure, and 38 percent less likely to have coronary artery disease when compared with those who didn’t receive any green tea. A 2005 study found that consuming tea in moderation may cause a modest reduction in blood sugar levels. Also, those who took the most complex carbohydrates before or after drinking 4 cups of tea per day had the highest scores, including those who had 5 grams of fiber per serving compared with those who had only 1g. A 2014 study found that green tea had a positive effect on weight management. Compared to other plant-based diets, eating only two servings of fresh foods per week was associated with a 13 percent waste reduction, and the risk of developing type 2 diabetes decreased when participants increased the number of fresh fruits and vegetables they ate per week.
