I Have Built Some Very Large Puzzles

Back in my younger days my favorite hobby was building jigsaw puzzles. Hubby and I set up a sheet of plywood on our living room coffee table and it became our game area. When we had a few minutes we would stop to seek out a couple more pieces to add into the developing image.

I have to say that it was one of he most relaxing hobbies I have ever participated in. I still crave picking up a large one to begin once again but can't talk my husband into giving up the living space it would take. Maybe one day. I plan to keep trying to convince him.

I used to love putting jigsaw puzzles together with my dad. He said his grandmother put them together while she was in the nursing home. She got bored with the same puzzle, so put it together from the back with no picture to help her.

CruiseReady from East Central Florida on August 19, 2012:

I haven't did a jigsaw puzzle in years, but have many fond memories of them. I remember when my son use to do the ones with all the tiny pieces, and glue them to make pictures. And in her later years, my Mother loved doing puzzles to keep her mind active.

wondering-tharpe on August 08, 2012:

I have many puzzles I have done over the years which I hang on my walls each time i move I get a new one. I also play online and use one on Big Fish called Jigs@w 2. I love it as it allows me to use any picture on my computer and I can adjust the amount of pieces and the chaos of those pieces. It also aloows me to add any song, midi, or mp3 file stored on my comp to it and I control if it continually plays or one time only. I love this jigsaw lens and the different puzzles and sites given. TY so much. My favorite puzzles are nature scenes and Native American scenes.

norma-holt on August 06, 2012:

I like the idea of the challenge of a jigsaw puzzle and usually can't pass by one that's set up without stopping to find a few pieces. I can't imagine the space it would take to work on your 24,000 piece monster puzzle, whew! I didn't know there are free on line jigsaw puzzles to work, technology is a wonder!

Lee Hansen from Vermont on July 27, 2012:

I love jigsaw puzzles. I like to make them, too. Check out Jigzone.com where you can upload your own photos and art to make jigsaw puzzles, or you can choose and solve many different puzzles. @LiteraryMind: Thank you so much for stopping by my online jigsaw puzzle article so quickly after it was published. I find jigsaw puzzles very relaxing. I used to keep it set up on a board on my coffee table and would pop in a few pieces whenever I went by.

I haven't lately-- but when I do, I find it relaxing -- sometimes frustrating but in a relaxing way. Great idea for a lens.
