Cards Against Humanity and Expansion Packs Online - The Mother Lens

If you're wondering - "What's a hot game that will actually impress my worthless friends?"... it's Cards Against Humanity "A party game for horrible people" This adult party game is an assault on civility, and although it has been taking a lot of flack from the "Goody Two-Shoe" types; it's a raving good time.

The kids that designed the game (or redesigned Apples to Apples is more like it) probably thought they had the market cornered when it came to insensitivity and foul mouthed raunchiness... Little did they know, every generation has those sorts... my point being you don't have to be college aged heathen to like this game. A group of us "fifty-somethings" had a swill tipping good time with this game a while back and while we don't obsess over it, we're all looking forward to the redux.

This game will test the sensitivities of even your most politically incorrect and nasty mouthed friends... maybe not, but it's sure to make someone you know blush, a lot. Now in it's third expansion, this is the game of the year for crude and hateful people everywhere.

If you find you and your friends are often making; racist, anti-feminist, male neutering, religious, ______________, political and in general "Just Wrong" comments to get a laugh, this game will most likely have you ROTFLYAO, and quickly.

"Warning"- If you do not understand, or just can't stomach the inglorious dark side of politically incorrect and significantly debasing humor then - "This is not the game for you".

On the other hand if you simply have a raunchy sense of humor and are looking for a game that's sure to get the party going this is one of the hottest games on the market today.

Cards Against Humanity Releases fifth Expansion Pack - August "2014"

08/31/2014 - Cards Against Humanity Announces: Release of the Fifth Expansion Pack

01/28/2014 - Cards Against Humanity "BACK IN STOCK"

01/16/2014 - Cards Against Humanity Original Starter Pack and Expansion Packs #1 and #2 are currently out of stock, while Expansion Packs #3 and #4 are currently available.- You can pay a premium and purchase from arbitragers selling on eBay or Amazon, or you can wait until they are in stock and buy at the original $25.00 price ($10.00 for expansions sets) from CAH at Amazon (their official distribution method). Find out more about buying these cards while they are out stock by visiting Where do I buy Cards Against humanity?

03/22/2013 - Today Cards Against Humanity is back in stock Amazon and they surprised us all by introducing a third expansion pack... I just ordered mine "Yippee"

03/13/2013Still looking for the new editions of CAH, which are supposed to be out sometime this month. So far... now six weeks behind schedule. If this wasn't such a unique product. The CAH company would be toast.

02/12/2013 The Next Release Pushed Off (Again) Until March "2013" Still waiting for the current release? Well the new target is March "2013". Wow what a let down. I'm still looking to pick up another start pack myself and I just hate the thought of paying more than the $25.00 retail sale price. It's already a little steep at that. I'm seeing the re-sellers as low as $40.00, but that does include shipping on most cases, so maybe I'll cave and pay the over to get the goods.

I can only imagine the discord going on within the game developers camp, After all someone in the group must certainly be responsible for getting product to distribution, and remember the company and the game originated from a group of high school classmates who if my information is correct are just into their twenty's... Anyone else see a collapse coming?

CAH has already missed their biggest opportunity to catapult their little company to the next level , e.g they received great response from the Kickstarter Crowd and Buzz for the game was soaring straight up heading into the "2012", holiday season, next everyone was talking about the $70,000 or so dollars they gave to wikimedia and the announcement that they were doing something big with

From a business point of view what a catastrophe, they went into their debut season out of product, they continued into the first quarter of the next year with no product and for some reason they gave away $70,000, which will probably be needed in the second quarter to cover expenses. I thought hey had it all together and assumed they were being mentored by someone that new the ropes. Hopefully I'm all wrong (just like the game) and there is a master plan at work. I would hate to have to see them prematurely sell off their company, but that's what I'm smelling.

02/04/2013 The timeline has been updated by and we should see the starter edition cards available sometime during the the first week of February.

02/02/2013 The Game Plummets In Google Trends Is it because because the game is seemingly perpetually out of stock, while a free online version has popped up at Where oh where did they go wrong? Between October and December the card game was trending straight up and becoming a new sensation. It's still getting quite a bit of buzz, but mostly from the online marketing community who came in late to jump on the bandwagon. It seems there must be a production or logistics issue with getting the product restocked at Amazon. We're into February and the last official announcement at the CAH website stated the product would be available for sale late in January. Even though that did not happen you can still get a copy of the game from one of the other sources listed on this page. You will just have to pay a little more.

01/25/2013 Still no current release at Amazon. The last official word was we'd see the cards sets available by the end of the month. Yikes! We're running out of month and what's more the first expansion pack is apparently also out of stock. Hey! "People" here's an idea... have the card game sets manufactured in the U.S. or Canada instead of off shoring the project.

01/22/2013 Where Are You? After a robust holiday season the CAH franchise seems to have taken a hit. Searches and purchases are way down.

Another question is: Has this happened completely organically now that everyone's back to school and family vacations are over, or has it been exasperated by the fact that CAH has let their market get away from them? By allowing themselves to run out of inventory a shortage has turned this product into a commodity that has been controlled by rogue arbitragers selling the game on Amazon an e-Bay for up to four times the retail cost.

01/16/2013 When will the next release of be available? It's still early, but no sign of the CAH cards on Amazon (yet). You can still find plenty of card sets available from the arbitragers who are selling the card sets for 2-3 times the regular retail price, however if you want to pay the lowest possible ($25.00) for the starter set, you'll have to wait a bit. I wonder if this next go around CAH will make a larger quantity of the game available? If they flood the market so-to-speak, it may even force the online gougers to sell their existing stock of card games at below retail... wouldn't that be a happy day.

12/23/2012 Out Of Stock Until January "2013" - Again? - Interesting, very interesting. One would believe that after a year in production the group at CAH could stock enough product to satisfy orders. Makes you wonder if the availability of this game is being purposefully managed to increase demand by creating a product shortage. If this is true our hat's should be off to the geniuses at CAH. If it isn't and it's just unbelievable dumb luck, maybe playing the game will allow it to rub off on us.

It's quite possible that the development and the release of Cards Against Humanity has been played like a fine fiddle from day one. If so, I wonder which of the members is the master mind? Give us a name. Brilliant, absolutely, brilliant!

But of course it may have all been nothing more than a happy little accident. (((Wink)))

You can still order the card game through Amazon and e-bay arbitrager's. You will just have to pay a more than you would if you can wait until the game is back in stock and available at the regular price. But check back frequently, up to now these sell out within days.

Card Boxes For Cards Against Humanity Decks

As you expand your "Cards Against Humanity" decks you may find that they don't fit as easily into the original card card boxes or that those original cardboard boxes wear out. Ultra has several good quality card boxes available for sale and you will find that some are pre-printed for other games such as "Magic The Gathering" that work nicely for housing the CAH decks. You may need more than one plastic box as you build your set. Consider separate boxes for black cards and white cards. This will make it easier when setting up the game than to have all cards mixed into the same box.

Cards Against Humanity Expansion PDF

As of now, there is still no Cards against Humanity Expansion PDF for free download.

My question is : Did the group at

CAH plan for this all along? Whether their continuously being out of stock was a clever business plan from the beginning, or just dumb luck that causes a stir around the game every time a new batch becomes available. It's clear the game is growing a following.

According to the CAH web site: "Our first expansion pack comes with 20 new black cards, 80 new white cards, and 12 customizable blank cards. Now with 40% more brand synergy!"

Make Money with Cards against Humanity?

CAH Arbitrage

Did you know some people are actually making money from buy buying and selling Cards sets?

If you have followed the history of this start up company you will know that they are prone to selling out the pre-made versions of their card sets shortly after they become available.

This shortage has caused an ideal situation for a few online entrepreneurs who will purchase the card sets through at the normal price when available, and then immediately list them for sale on e-bay at a higher price, knowing that some buyers either won't wait until the game is available from the manufacturer or are just want to buy the game now and are willing to pay the listed price.

To verify that CAH cards are currently available and have an Amazon selling price of $25.00; The retail price for the original CAH card set and $10.00 for the first CAH Expansion Pack, follow any of the check price links to

Fortunately there is such a solid brand and following, that even if the card sets become available on a consistent basis at Amazon you should still be able to resell any new sets in your inventory on e-bay for the current retail price... Worst case scenario of getting most if not all of your investment back. Until then this still looks like an open opportunity.

Disclaimer: "There is no guarantee you can buy this game on Amazon and resell at a profit on e-bay. Business opportunities change daily and often have some risk associated with them. If you decide to give this form of arbitrage a try it's suggested you at least proceed with caution."

Cards Against Humanity Christmas Gift

It's no surprise Cards against Humanity will make a great Christmas Gift for that game playing friend or relative that has a rank sense of humor, but you may be surprised when you order to find the set is out of stock. If you are contemplating giving the card set as a gift you should probably plan ahead or you may run the risk of not being able to purchase a copy when you want to. The other issue is if you can find one you may end up paying a higher price.

CAH is produced by a small group of people that went to school together. It's actually a start up venture that was funded through Kickstarter. The problem has been that the game is not always available from the CAH website or through Amazon their online retail partner. If you buy it from the CAH site you pay the standard retail price of $25 for the starter game or $10 for the first expansion pack and the same goes for Amazon. If the cards are not currently available you do have another option, but it will cost more.

There are many listings on Ebay for the CAH cards. These listings have been submitted by people who have purchased the game at the regular price and then listed them on Ebay at a higher price, or put them up for auction. Many of the auctions or buy it now listings on Ebay go for double the regular price. Also, if you bid on an auction set of cards you will have to wait until the auction is over until you can expect shipment.

2012 Holiday Pack Profits Donated To Wikimedia

CAH offered a Holiday Expansion Pack at the end of "2012" . The twist was you could pay what you want for it or this pack of cards. About 10% of the card packs were shipped at no cost and the rest of them were actually sold for a fee. At the end of the day the project netted over $70,000.00 U.S. dollars in profit and the group donated the entire amount to Wikimedia.

Cards Against Humanity Funded By Donors

This horrible game was developed through funds made available at . Kickstarter bills their site as a "Funding Platform for Creative Projects".

These aren't loans, but you may get a first or limited edition of the project or some other incentive from the creative person or group for helping in funding the project. According to the Kickstarter site they have successfully launched more than 24,000 projects since "2009 and "2012"

If you're inclined to do so, don your Angel wings and head over to to get the skinny on what unique web site is all about.

Second Expansion

Cards Against Humanity: Second Expansion

Sweet! "The Second Expansion Pack has been released". Still No pdf download for the CAH expansion packs... It's like they say; "If you want to play, eventually you'll have to pay."

At present count we have the original CAH starter pack, which can also be downloaded and printed for free. The first expansion pack which has no free pdf download and now the second expansion pack which totally builds the deck of cards to an enormous set of, oh so wrong, but hilarious remarks. *note there was also a limited edition 2012 Holiday Pack.

I wonder if there will be a third expansion pack any time soon? Regardless it appears there will be no free pdf downloads for the expansion packs. ---- * There is now a third expansion pack.

So there's something planned with and us "Nerds" want to know what it is. CAH has been shrouded by secrecy (as always) but have let just enough out of the bag to taunt us. Here's a line from the CAH website:

Attn. nerds: Cards Against Humanity and Giant Bomb are combining like Devastator to make a limited-edition expansion to Cards Against Humanity.

You don't suppose that GiantBomb is going to help develop an official online version of the Game, do you? I'm all a tingle. That would be a thrilla'. If you have any inside scoop , do share... in the meantime awaiting the arrival of the next delivery of those "Precious" cards, slack-jawed as usual.

Oh and please don't use actual profanity when posting here (!@#$%^& # will do just fine). My Mother reads this and she'll delete it before it ever gets posted..

Yes I do! Interesting read. Thanks for the great lens!

Vikki from US on November 27, 2012:

I wondered what this game was; kept seeing it in the number one spot for games ---now I know!

anonymous on June 20, 2012:

Cards Against Humanity sounds like a lot of laughs for a break from all that political correctness we load our days down with...for those that can handle laughter with a bit of a rude edge at time...I was just going to say what scarlettohairy said...a few beers and you're on your way. The funny thing is that many are more rude being so called "politically correct".

Peggy Hazelwood from Desert Southwest, U.S.A. on June 16, 2012:

This looks like it'd be a lot of fun. A few beers and let the rude remarks fly!

julieannbrady on June 03, 2012:

Oh my, this is surely an unusual and interesting game. For the most part, I don't hang in "real" life with politically incorrect or rude people. I can see where online this should work for lots of people. ;)

Bob Zau (author) on May 26, 2012:

I have some rude friends. This game is hilarious to us.
