This is a complete guide to life as a criminal in "The Sims 4."

Welcome to the Sims 4 Dark Side

You vile fiend. You’ve decided to wander your wicked way into the Criminal career. Home to deviants the world over, Criminal is the career path for anyone who has a nasty temperament, a dislike of people in general, and a love of money, money, money. (Though only if you don’t mind not making a whole lot at first. Man, oh man, do Criminals start out cheap.) Your sim won’t be well-liked by the community, but, eh, who cares. That’s what good sims are for.

Sims who want to specialize in the Criminal career path should take on either side of the Deviance Aspiration, giving more power to Mean interactions. You’ll need a fair number of people to despise your sim. As far as Traits go, you’ll want your sim to be various combinations of Active, Goofball, Hot-Headed, Evil, Hates Children, and/or Mean. In short, the things you don’t usually want to make a highly-successful sim.

Below is a listing of the tiers of the Criminal career path. Note that your sim cannot change which branch they pursue once one has been chosen, and even if your sim stops being a Criminal, they won’t be able to go back and take the other branch on a second trip through.

Criminal

  • Ideal Mood: Energized
  • Daily Task: Mischief interactions with other sims (Criminal), Mean interactions with other sims (Boss), Hacking (Oracle)

Level 1 - Tough Gal

  • Wage: $9/hour
  • Time: 5:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
  • Days: Every day
  • Bonus: None

Welcome to the dark side. For your sim to reach level two, they must brush up on their Mischief skill with other sims, also raising it to level two. After level two, your sim can also raise Mischief on the computer with Troll The Forums, which is better for relationships.

Level 2 - Petty Thief

  • Wage: $13/hour
  • Time: 8:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m.
  • Days: Monday – Saturday
  • Bonus: $465, Emblems of Espionage

You like to steal trinkets. Your sim will have to reach level two in either Fitness or Programming to get your next promotion, depending on which direction your sim wants to go late in their career. Fitness can be done by Jogging or using workout equipment, while Programming requires a computer.

Level 3 - Ringleader

  • Wage: $17/hour
  • Time: 8:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m.
  • Days: Tuesday – Saturday
  • Bonus: $558, Duffle o’ Cash, Pickpocket interaction

The best of the low. To reach your sim’s next level of achievement, you’ll have to raise their Charisma skill to level two. You can do this by having your sim interact with mirrors and Practicing a Speech. One other sim also has to despise your sim, which you can easily achieve with a slew of Mischief or Mean interactions.

Level 4 - Felonious Monk

  • Wage: $23/hour
  • Time: 7:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.
  • Days: Tuesday – Saturday
  • Bonus: $670, Vintage Baseball Bat Sculpture

And you thought monks were nice. To reach the next level of Criminal, your sim must level Mischief to four, as well as successfully Pickpocket sims five times. Pickpocket is found under the Mischief conversation category. Sims will be quite upset if your thief gets caught, so do this to strangers.

Level 5 - Minor Crimelord

  • Wage: $32/hour
  • Time: 8:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.
  • Days: Tuesday – Saturday
  • Bonus: $804, new CAS parts

The top of the local crime scene. To reach the next tier in your Criminal quest, you’ll have to get your sim to level six in Mischief and level four in either Fitness or Programming. Pretty straightforward.

Past level five, your sim will branch off into one of two alternate careers. This is where your hard work begins to pay off. (Being a Criminal up ’til this point hasn’t been too impressive, after all.)
