Introduction...

The title says it all, as Gearbox's conference was a whole lot of nothing. And to think I expected something from them too. Anything of substance like numerous gameplay trailers or some behind the scenes rehearsals of the Borderlands film. None of that, zilch, nadda. But let's get into the assessment, and break it down.

Man I hope Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is as cool as this trailer looks.

This game looked sick. But that's because I'm a sucker for Norse Mythology

The Assessment...

After Randy Pitchford rambled about the Borderlands movie, which in currently in production, Gearbox showcased their Borderlands spin off “Tiny Tina's Wonderland.” It’s a fantasy spin off involving Tiny Tina and Handsome Jack’s horse “Butt Stallion. And Wonderlands, like the Borderlands movie is also in production. All we got was an animated trailer, while neat told us next to nothing about Tiny Tina's Wonderland. Underwhelming really... Oh and it'll be out early 2022. Hopefully we'll get more info until then.

After that was a top down action game called “Tribes of Midgard.” You play in a team of human warriors protecting the Earth(Midgard) and the seed of Yggdrasil from giants who want to destroy it. Also too, there’s an aspect where you can construct your village and forge weapons, which reminds me of the first three Warcraft games. It will be available on PS4, PS5, and Steam, which is good for me because I’m gonna want to play this.

Afterwards was a trailer for God Fall. Or rather the fact that will be available on PS4, which feels weird. I wasn’t aware of GodFall because I missed last year’s non-E3 gaming conferences, but it’s already out on PS5 and Windows. GodFall originally released November 12 2020. So why would they made a PS4 version? And with more crap than in the original game like more enemies, items, weapons, and loot skins.
Or at least that's what I thought, until I watched the trailer again. They will thankfully be making the same updates for the existing versions of God Fall. Which is good, because it’d be a gip for PS4 owners to only get the new updates coming in 2021. I’mma just look into this merely for the Hack ’n Slash gameplay alone. Also the Fire and Darkness DLC with be available August 10th of this year.

Following that was the announcement that GearBox’s next project “Homeworld 3” is in production.

And lastly we ended on the underwhelming note I’ve seen in any E3 conference:”Pitchfork talking to Kevin Hart about playing Roland in the Borderlands film.” They said nothing and showed nothing of substance in this interview. It was bitterly disappointing...

The Sad Conclusion...

And that was GearBox’s conference. And it was underwhelming… Aside from Tribes of Midgard and an animated Trailer for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, there wasn’t anything of note to write home about. I’ll be looking to play GodFall and Tribes of Midgard, and I’m excited for Tiny Tina’s Wonderland. But there was no gameplay for Wonderlands, or HomeWorld 3. Nothing to show for the Borderlands film except a filming location, the cast and crew.

As a result I’ll keep an eye out for updates on HomeWorld 3, the film, and Tina’s Wonderland. But this conference was a lot of nothing. A real big disappointment for anyone watching.
