Playing Card Insights

Use playing cards as a form of meditation...

This is a method of reading playing cards that I developed simultaneously with my Mexican Playing Card reading technique. Some of the individual card interpretations are similar or identical, but overall, the systems are a little different because American playing cards differ slightly in the court cards. Mexican playing cards have no distinctly feminine court cards, while American playing cards have a Queen.

There are many good books on playing card reading and I hope you will pursue this interest. Just as many people enjoy playing solitaire to pass the time, think and focus, using playing cards as a form of meditation and guided thought can be an enjoyable and interesting way to gain insight into your own ideas and solutions. My method of card reading is not intended to tell you what to do. The cards just provide you with time, focus and ideas for consideration. The Layout

You can use any standard layout with playing cards (found in many books on the topic of card reading) or you can create your own. The simple 3-card layout is amazingly flexible and suitable for any situation. Simply shuffle your cards while thinking of your question & cut the deck into three piles from right to left using your left hand. The three piles can represent whatever you want them to: eg. Past, Present, Future, or Love, Money, Work, or Morning, Afternoon, Evening…etc. You may also wish to add a topic card or significator. This is a 4th card drawn to represent the subject of the reading or the person being read for.

Thank you, Cogerson! Have a look at my Mexican Playing Cards HUB also. It is the counterpart for Mexican, Spanish or Italian playing cards.

Wow awesome hub, I really appreciate you breaking down the cards with their meanings....I am bookmarking this hub as a great reference point....voted up and useful.

Thank you, Dannette. Yes, I enjoy using the playing cards - especially since my method is not "fortune-telling". I use the cards to stimulate thinking and help me see things from a variety of perspectives, so the simplicity of the playing cards leaves more room for my own thoughts. Additionally, it is super easy to carry a deck of playing cards and a one page sheet of memory joggers! ;D

Years ago I saw a tarot reader who used a regular card deck for her readings. I was surprised at first because I had expected to see the Rider-Waite deck. Regardless, she gave me a good reading. I thought this was a very interesting hub; I have always been interested in the tarot. Voted up
