PS2 Vertical Stand Review
My Thoughts On The PS2 Vertical Stand
When I finally got my PS5, it came with its own vertical stand which I found was very unique given that it was part of the PS5 set. But, what this did was motivate me to find vertical stands for my other consoles as well. My Nintendo Switch came with its own stand and I never take the handheld part of it with me anywhere.
Having said that, I got curious to see if I could find a vertical stand for my PS2. As good luck would have it, I managed to find one brand new on eBay. The only thing that killed me about said stand is that ordering it from Canada or places within the GBP realm, it takes a bit but worth the wait.
Alright, so I'm going to talk about the PS2 Vertical Stand. I'm sort of amazed that there was a vertical stand made for the PS2 slim, I didn't know there was but make no mistake, if you still jam on the PS2 then you'll definitely want to have this. I don't regret the money I spent on this. Not in the least.
So, the product, the PS2 Vertical Stand is easily installed in the open hole located on the side of the console, left side I believe. I mean, I've always known about certain products that came out for the PS2 when it was at the height of its power.
However, I didn't know they made a vertical stand because I would've gotten one long ago. The Vertical Stand is sturdy and screw right in. No longer do you have to worry about trying to put your console down, standing it up vertically is where its at. Also, if you look closer, you'll want to have a PS2 slim that is a 70000 series console; it won't work with no other.
Alright, I'm not going to blow this up to gigantic proportions making it the best thing since sliced bread. What I will say is that having this accessory for your PS2 is definitely worth the money, if you're one of those who are looking to give your PS2 an extra leg to stand on then this is definitely for you.
I got the stand because I wanted to give me my PS2, another look I guess and I felt like I wanted to still be able to get my hands on PS2 era accessories for my console. Surprising that this little bobble was around for pickup.
Now, one of the biggest concerns for us gamers is the console heat or heat generation of the console. The vertical stand, I feel, redirects some of that heat to be blown out the back.
I mean, I sort of got the idea from the fact that if the PS5's Vertical Stand can be seen to ensure that it doesn't overheat, I have to imagine that the Vertical Stand for the PS2 is there for the same purpose. I turned on my console with the stand attached and boy, what a difference, my console didn't feel hot at all nor did it feel remotely warm.
So with this being an accessory, I told you that I got it off eBay. I do find it surprising that I was able to get my hands on this great find. Personally, when I look back on my earlier days when I was just playing my PS2 alone, I can't believe how I didn't have this accessory. Ultimately, if you have a PS2, you have to add this to your repertoire.
I was always content with laying my console down while I was playing whatever game I was playing, but this baby was a godsend. Now, I can stand it up to my heart's delight.
Now, as many of us gamers well know, our consoles don't last forever and will eventually have to replace them. When the time comes when that happens if you have a PS2 70000 series, make sure your next PS2 is as well.
As I mentioned above, the vertical stand will not work with any other PS2 console which means that if you're getting a PS2 slim, you'll want to make sure that you check the number on it first because it would suck having to have a vertical stand for a console you can't use.
