Counter: Side is a mobile game where you are the CEO of a company that fights creatures known as corruptions after an alternate dimension was revealed to the world by the previous administration. You, the player, take control of the company called The Coffin Company. Your job as the new Boss is to hire mercenaries to fight Corrupted Objects from the Counter Side.
It's An Interesting Concept
This is a Korean RPG beat-‘em-up game with a fun premise and interesting characters. I have been focusing more on the story than PVP and I’ve been enjoying the story so far. I’m reviewing the global release and it’s been good so far. There have been a lot of additions that they put in for the global launch so many of the game bugs have been fixed.
I like the concept of the game and the story is interesting. The characters are also entertaining so it is a fun story to read.

The Voice Acting Is Good!
I know that the Korean voice cast is very famous and I liked their voice acting. It did take me a little while to get used to it because I play so many mobile games with a Japanese voice cast. However, the game does have a Japanese voice cast if that's what you want to listen to so you'll enjoy it either way.
They both have top-notch voice acting that you'll enjoy so pick a track and enjoy the game.

The Music Is Nice
I like the music in Counter: Side. It fits the game very well and it sounds very nice. I couldn’t find the name of the composer to give them credit but they did an excellent job for the music in this game.
There's a Big Learning Curve
There’s a lot of content in the game, but if you get hooked you’ll probably blow right through it. But there is also a lot to manage in the game and that can feel very overwhelming.
There's a lot to learn and it can feel like you have to learn a ton of game mechanics and systems.
Fortunately, there are a lot of YouTube videos and people that have played on the Korean and Southeast Asia servers so they can give you a lot of tips for how you want to play the game and what you should do in order to get the most out of your account whether you pay for microtransactions in the game or if you’re a free-to-play player.
You Can Run Out of Things to Do
Since I started playing at launch I have had a lot of fun, but if you go through the game too fast you will run out of things to do in the game. Then you’ll be stuck at endgame either doing PVP or farming. However, the game is giving out a lot of rewards for people that go through the main story so the game pushes you to get as much content done as you can.
Unfortunately, if you go too fast you’ll limit your activities in the game. I’ve gone at a pretty fast pace but I’ll end up slowing down and going back to other games, but I have enjoyed the game so far.
There's a Lot of Microtransactions
There’s a lot of microtransactions in this game. There’s the Quartz currency, that can be used to buy decorations or roll on character banners, you can also use it to buy premium banner currency.
There’s also administration currency, that is premium currency. You can use it to buy skins and roll on the Premium Classified banner.
There are so many packages the game tries to sell you that it’ll make your head spin. Fortunately, this is all optional and you can just ignore the premium store.
What I can see fans purchasing are packages for the Admin Coins, because while you can use them to roll on the Premium Classified banners, I see more fans using the Admin Coins to buy premium skins for the characters they rolled from the gacha instead of using it to roll.
The thing is the skins are very nice looking so it’s very tempting to buy a skin for a character you like, which is understandable, but if you’re gonna buy that, at least make a budget for it.
To get one skin for a character you like costs about 2,000 Admin Coins which is $20.00-$25.00 in paid currency, which in my opinion is a bit much for a character skin since you can’t farm out Admin Coins in the game.
You don’t need to pay anything to be competitive, just look up good gear setups and try to get good characters and you’ll do fine in the game.
I won’t say that this is the most free-to-play friendly gacha game, but you can be very lucky if you can pull the characters that the community says are really great to pull.
Try the Game, but Don't Spend Money
I recommend trying Counter: Side before deciding if you want to spend money on this mobile game. It’s a fun and enjoyable game. The story is fun, and the voice acting and music are nice to listen to.
The gameplay is fun and I like what I’ve played so far. I’m busy working on leveling my character and participating in events, but you can do a lot of things in this game.
It’s fun and since I’ve gotten into the game within the first month, I’ve taken advantage of all the free rolls they’re giving out.
After launch, it might not be as fun when it comes to rolling, but I do enjoy the story and gameplay a lot.
|What Works:||What Doesn't Work:|
Great story, characters, and world-building
There's a big learning curve
Great voice acting in multiple languages
There's a lot of microtransactions in the shop
My Grade: A-
Counter: Side is fun and it is worth trying if it sounds like a mobile game that interests you. I like the premise and it’s a fun story. It’s not too hard to play and people have many reasons to enjoy the movie. Whether it’s the story, the characters, the events, or the PVP, there’s something everyone can enjoy about the game.
You don’t have to buy anything to get the most enjoyment out of the game. I enjoyed the game a lot. But I will warn people that you might not get as much out of it if you start after all the launch bonuses are finished.
It’s still a very fun game and worth giving a try, even if you don’t buy anything. I enjoy playing it and it’s a nice game to do when you just want something fun and really quick to play.
Counter: Side is worth your time, but don’t spend your money unless you enjoy the game a lot. I won’t be spending any money on this game, I enjoy it but not that much.
It’s a fun and entertaining game with a good story and fun characters. I recommend trying the game and seeing if it’s something you’ll like. As long as you don’t spend money if you don’t want to.
It’s an entertaining game with a lot to offer players and no matter what you focus on, you’ll find something to enjoy.
