Magic The Gathering: The Best Rares of Kaldheim

I have been playing Magic: The Gathering since 1994 and have won a few draft tournaments in MTGO and MTG Arena.

Kaldheim has some quality rares that have mechanics such as Boast and Foretell. These mechanics enhance your arsenal and give you more gameplay options.

Egon, God of Death / Throne of Death

This flip card lets you play the spell of your choice.

You can either play Egon, God of Death or Throne of Death

Egon, God of Death is a black creature that costs two colorless and one black mana to play.

It has six power and six toughness

Egon also has deathtouch.

The drawback though is you have to feed Egon 2 cards at the beginning of your upkeep or Egon gets sacrificed and you draw a card.

Throne of Death is a black artifact that costs one black mana to play.

This card serves to fill your library by milling a card at the beginning of your upkeep.

The graveyard can be used as a resource for mechanics like dredge, delve, threshold and the like.

You can also use it to drzw cards by exiling creatures in your graveyard.

Tergrid, God of Fright / Tegrid's Lantern

This flip card lets you play the spell of your choice.

You can either play Tergrid, God of Fright or Tegrid's Lantern.

Tergrid, God of Fright is a black creature that costs three colorless and two black mana to play.

It has four power and five toughness.

Tergrid also has menace.

Tergrid lets you steal permanents your opponent discards or non-token permanents he sacrifices.

Tegrid's Lantern is a black artifact that costs three colorless and one black mana to play.

You can tap it to force an opponent to discard a card or sacrifice a nonland permanent.

You can also pay three colorless and one black mana to untap it.

Varragoth, Bloodsky Sire

Varragoth, Bloodsky Sire is a black creature that costs two colorless and two black mana to play.

Varragoth also has deathtouch.

It has two power and three toughness.

You can pay one colorless and one black mana to use its Boast ability which functions like a Vampiric Tutor.

Ascendant Spirit

Ascendant Spirit is a blue creature that costs one blue mana to play.

It has one power and one toughness.

It is a snow version of Figure of Destiny from the Eventide expansion.

Two snow mana will yield you a two power and three toughness vanilla creature.

Three snow mana will yield you a four power and four toughness creature with flying.

Four snow mana will yield you a six power and six toughness creature with flying that lets you draw a card if it deals combat damage to a player.

Cosima, God of the Voyage / The Omenkeel

Cosima, God of the Voyage is a blue creature that costs two colorless and one blue mana to play.

It has two power and four toughness.

Cosima is essentially a card drawing engine or a possible finisher once it gets large enough.

The Omenkeel is a blue artifact that costs one colorless and one blue mana to play.

It is an engine that helps you steal your opponent's lands.

Jorn, God of Winter / Kaldring, the Rimestaff

You can either play Jorn, God of Winter or Kaldring, the Rimestaff.

Jorn, God of Winter is a green creature that costs two colorless and one green mana to play.

It has three power and three toughness.

Jorn untaps your snow permanents when it attacks.

Kaldring, the Rimestaff is a blue and black artifact that costs one colorless, one blue and one black mana to play.

It allows you to resurrect your snow permanents from your graveyard.

Kolvori, God of Kinship / The Ringhart Crest

Kolvori, God of Kinship is a green creature that costs two colorless and two green mana to play.

It has two power and four toughness.

Kolvori becomes a six power and six toughness creature with vigilance if you control three or more legendary creatures.

It also lets you fish your library for more legendary creatures to help it reach its power and toughness bonus.

The Ringhart Crest is a green artifact that costs one colorless and one green mana to play.

It produces one green mana that you can use to spend to creatures of a chosen type or legendary creatures.

Toski, Bearer of Secrets

Toski, Bearer of Secrets is a green creature that costs three colorless and one green mana to play.

It has one power and one toughness.

Toski cannot be countered and is indestructible.

It also makes every creature you own into a Thieving Magpie and enables you to draw a lot of cards.

Birgi, God of Storytelling / Harnfel Horn of Bounty

This flip card lets you play the spell of your choice.

You can either play Birgi, God of Storytelling or Harnfel Horn of Bounty.

Birgi, God of Storytelling is a red creature that costs two colorless and one red mana to play.

It has three power and three toughness.

It enables you to generate free red mana when you cast spells as well as use the Boast ability twice on creatures you control.

Harnfel, Horn of Bounty is a red artifact that costs four colorless and one red mana to play.

It enables you to play the top two cards in your library for the cost of discarding a card.

Doomskar

Doomskar is a white sorcery that cost three colorless and two white mana.

Doomskar is Day of Judgment but with an installment plan. You can choose to pay its five mana casting cost in one go or pay two colorless mana to stash Doomskar then one colorless mana and two white mana to trigger it.

Rally the Ranks

Rally the Ranks is a white enchantment that cost one colorless and one white mana.

It gives creatures of a chosen type plus one power and plus one toughness.

Righteous Valkyrie

Righteous Valkyrie is a white creature that costs two colorless and one white mana to play.

It has two power and four toughness.

The angel is perfect for white lifegain decks as it is not legendary so you can put down up to four of them and the lifegain effect can easily be multiplied.

Once you reach seven life above your starting total, all your creatures get a plus two power and plus two toughness boost.

Barkchannel Pathway / Tidechannel Pathway

You can either play Barkchannel Pathway or Tidechannel Pathway.

Barkchannel Pathway produces green mana while Tidechannel Pathway produces blue mana.

You can either play Darkbore Pathway or Slitherbore Pathway.

Darkbore Pathway produces black mana while Slitherbore Pathway produces green mana.

Hengegate Pathway / Mistgate Pathway

You can either play Hengegate Pathway or Mistgate Pathway.
