Let the Colors Flow: A SWTOR Dye Modules Guide
Time To Go Color Crazy
With the introduction of patch 2.1 there are several new custom features that have been introduced. One of these is Dye Modules. These destructible modules are put into your current armor pieces and can change the Primary, Secondary, or both Primary and Secondary colors of a piece of armor. Currently the dye module slot is not available on every piece of armor, nor is it available for weapons.
The Easy Dye Modules
There are three different ways that you can acquire the dye modules. The first is to buy them outright. There are only a handful of colors available however, and they are not colors that a lot of people seem to prefer. They are available at the Collector’s Edition vendor or the Security Key vendor.
If you’re looking to spend credits on colors, you can also go directly to the GTN. Although the prices vary wildly, if you have enough credits you can skip over the hunting phase and get exactly what you want directly.
Careful, Dye Can Stain Your Hands
The second way to get your hands on dye modules is to make them through Artifice. There are a range of colors that are available, and they are restricted by the level of Artifice you currently have, although an Artifice level of 400 will allow you to make all current colors. These colors may be learned directly from the Artifice trainer, and if you have a reputation high enough with select groups, also purchasable from reputation vendors throughout the galaxy. These require purple grade Treasure Hunting materials, so be price aware when buying or selling these.
Time To Hit The Market
The third way is to buy them through the Cartel Market. By purchasing the color crates for 200 cartel coins each you get the chance to receive random colors. The amount of colors you can get through this method is much greater then with the other sources, but there is a much greater chance that you won't get the one you would like.
Although these colors change the major colors on a piece, it does not necessarily change everything. You should preview your armor and make sure it will look good with the dye pack you've chosen.
In the table below I've listed all of the different colors available, as well as their source. This table is sortable to make it easy to find the information you’re looking for.
