League of Legends 10 Hardest Champions to Play

Every champion is different and there is no debate that some champions are a lot harder to play than others. In this guide we will examine the champions with the highest skill cap and what makes them so hard to play and learn.

Lee Sin

Lee sin can be one of the most fun champions in the game but he can also be one of the hardest to learn. He has 6 abilities and his Q can be a very difficult skill to land. When I first started playing lee it was very confusing and he took a long time to learn.

With is extremely diverse kit, Shaco has the options of escaping, ganking, and just outplaying your enemy. Jungling with him is not easy because you have to make all of his ganks extremely effective in order to be successful. He is also very squishy so it make him very vulnerable to counter ganks and dying if you do not play smart.

In my opinion one of the strongest mages in the game. That being said she does come with a very high skill cap. If you cannot land her stun you are in big trouble early game. She relies on landing her stun to set up her combo and missing it can be an easy way to win lane. The key with Anivia is waiting for the right moments to trade, farming well, and using your wall effectively.

Ahri is an assassin type champion that excells at getting in and getting auto and hopefully killing a carry. The thing that makes her difficult to play is her abilities are somewhat hard to land, and her ultimate can be confusing to use.

Well nearly all of her skills are skill shots and if that isn't bad enough you have to land her skill shots to make her combo any bit effective. Missing a Q on Cass can be very unforgiving, but it also can be very rewarding.

Cho Gath

Cho gath is a very powerful champion, but he relies on a lot of skill shots and missing them can make the difference between winning and losing lane. Other than that he is very strong and has a lot of damage.

Those hooks. They might seem like they are pretty easy to land but they can be really tricky. There is a lot of pressure to land hooks and if you miss them it makes you extremely less effective. Although it is hard to land these hooks, hitting one can result in an easy kill.

Janna is extremely powerful if you can play her correctly. The problem is that most people do not know how to play her and it results in her being sub par. If you didn't know already, Janna has a shield that can block incoming damage which is great. However, if you do not land this shield you do not have sustain or anything else to negate incoming damage.

Just like Blitzcrank, Leona has an ability that is hard to land that makes the difference between setting up kills or losing lane. If you miss Leona's dive move it makes it really easy for the enemy lane to get really aggressive and you not have an response for it. The problem for Leona is her pre-six, but after that she is really strong.

Kog Maw

The reason Kog is so hard to play is because he does not have heavy damage from his abilities. Instead, Kog relies on his bio arcane barrage which can be difficult to master using. To be and effective Kog, you must use this ability to poke and do it safely.

In all honesty, Vanye was the hardest champion that I ever played and it took me a long time to get any bit good with her. I played Vayne her and there but never became really effective until I master the role of ranged carry. Using tumble and an auto attack to trade can be really hard if you do not have great mechanics.

For u its hard to use those champions for me its hard to use twisted fate

Anitha on January 09, 2015:

With all these silly weseitbs, such a great page keeps my internet hope alive.

Samuel Franklin on January 03, 2015:

Anivia took me ages to get my head around, you really have to think about where you place that ultimate otherwise you'll be useless in a fight. Her movement speed doesn't help matters either, I think it's one of the lowest in the game.

Anup on December 27, 2014:

The whole idea about doing a long tutorial while only half of it is aallctuy informative, you should cover jungling if you so desire if you have time over, item buying etc. I just find other guides better and more deep going. Also i dislike that you ranking on tryndamere was kinda mediocre since you didn't even pick up w at level 4.

ZXc on October 09, 2014:

sona isn't on this list wtf? her skills are so hard to aim

Game Gamut on September 19, 2014:

I think the argument for Janna is a little weak. Her shield isn't a skill shot and the only skill shot she has is a Q, but that is normally used when she's up in your face or to help your team escape. Most players are pretty good at the basics with her. I also don't agree with Leona. Compared to most supports, I'd like to think her 2-5 is stronger than a lot of other supports. The hit box on her E is also a little OP at the moment. I landed countless E's that I thought didn't have a chance.

To be fair, having a "top ten" really limits honorable mentions. I think Jayce has a huge skill cap and requires every action you make to be on point because of his cool downs. When it comes to ADC's the hardest champs I've played are Urgot and Twitch.

ashizar on August 16, 2014:

Ehm Zed?

Magic Johnson on August 03, 2014:

No Zed? He pretty hard IMO because he plays really different from the champs I've played.

SINGEED on July 29, 2014:

singed?? where is singed? try to master that welll..:##

Jack-o-Dope on June 01, 2014:

Urgot maybe? Sejuani? Either they are in despirate need for a buff, or they are absolute beasgs who need the right player :/

a on May 26, 2014:

where is master yi?

mickey on May 16, 2014:

only ones i agree with are cass anivia and vayne

FREEZERD on April 24, 2014:

no1 ever thinks of cassiopeia but shes actually really hard to master try putting yourself in the a good position and you cannot mess up any of your abilities and she has no escape either

that guy on April 17, 2014:

Twisted Fate is so hard to play and cho gath is really easy to play

Darkiron on March 30, 2014:

Neh, bad top, i don't know why people think that vayne is hard, im lvl 30 and killed a lot un my first game with her.

The only hard champions in this list are anivia and shaco.

Where is syndra, orianna, twisted fate, zed, yasuo?

privategosuchallenger on March 25, 2014:

syndra zed yasuo leblanc

dawg011 on March 05, 2014:

Who makes this crappy lists? Where is Riven, Orianna, Syndra, Draven?

passthejelly (author) from Lakewood Colorado on February 12, 2014:

I agree. I use to not be able to play vayne that well but once I got her mechanics down and using the tumble to dodge abilities she is really fun. Hard champions tend to be really good if you can play them well.

Sarah Forester from Australia on February 11, 2014:

I definitely agree with placing Vayne on this list, playing her well is a huge learning curve (but a rewarding one). Anivia is also pretty brutal just because she plays so differently, has that low movement speed and relies a lot on a slow moving skillshot.

Jardis on December 10, 2013:

Where the hell is Riven?

Shacobeast on November 27, 2013:

I just bought Shaco, and he's extremely fun to play with. I got a 4/1/8 record on my first attempt with him. Had lots of fun.

jard on November 20, 2013:

Lmao i own them all but 4 i can use them all very beastly except eve, anivia, and jana. Leona is my main sup

passthejelly (author) from Lakewood Colorado on October 29, 2013:

If you are a skilled player yes. Vayne is really hard to cs with which is why she is harder to play. Just because a champ is hard to play does not mean that you can't do will with them or win.

Too Good on October 29, 2013:

I've played vayne twice during free week and finally decide to buy her a month later. First game OK. Second game I go 20/4 legendary. Third game I 3v1'd a fizz, sivir, and some other champ.

Plus these champs are easy to play

XD on October 12, 2013:

all of these champs are one of the most easiest (at least for me)

lol on October 10, 2013:

zed's not in here? half these champs are just "hard" cause you need to have perfect timing

lol player on August 17, 2013:

So all the champions that have skillshots are "hard to play"?

What about syndra? Orianna? Or draven which is not that easy to play either, I'd say medium difficulty...

I'm an average lol player (hit 1k wins this month) and I think neither of the champs listed above are "hard to play" only anivia can be tricky but nothing special

Tski3 on August 15, 2013:

where's heimerdinger?

Lurvepöse on July 28, 2013:

Sentwi, how can you say that the wall SUCKS? It's like the best spell in the game... ofc I max my E for the amazing damage, but I max the wall second. Because the plays that you can make are just outstanding, specially in the jungle-area, in where you can lock carries/tanks out of fights.

Sentwi on June 03, 2013:

Anivia player here, anivia was my first champion thus making skillshots much easyier for me to hit, mastering anivia is hard because the here wall just sucks, I take my first point at lvl 13 simply because if you get it wrong ONCE you can lose an entire game for your team, I only use it for checking bushes and forcing flashes in lane by wall behind them into ulti and stun before finishing with the spear of death. Another note is that you have to explode your Q behind the target for double damage, also don't EVER towerdive even with your egg, act as if you never have it and carry a zhonyas so that just before you die you give your team a chance to save your life as an egg.

Four3al on May 17, 2013:

u fourgot about udyr he is verrrrrry hard to play

yop on April 28, 2013:

twisted fate no ?

Syndra2 on April 15, 2013:

syndra, kassadin, tf, and orianna need to be there.

syndra on March 26, 2013:

Wheres syndra at?

Aqua on March 06, 2013:

You need to try playing Orianna

Crummy Joker on January 23, 2013:

These are not even hard... You just need to predict well. Vayne is hard, though !
