Interactive Baby Doll - Life Like Dolls

Lifelike Dolls - the Perfect Baby Doll

Searching for the perfect baby doll? If you have a little girl on your Christmas or birthday list, you’ll be bombarded with toys for girls. Girls toys run the gamut, from games to fashion dolls to tea sets. Of course, in today’s society, little girls play with practically everything little boys play with. There are, however, a few toys that girls seem drawn to, and one such toy is the baby doll. Just about every little girl loves baby dolls! Some of the best toy baby dolls available are interactive baby dolls.

What are Interactive Baby Dolls?

Interactive baby dolls are very life like dolls. These realistic dolls do all sorts of things, just like a real baby would do. Some laugh, some eat and drink, and some wave. Most of the realistic dolls talk or cry, too. Some even poop and pee! Now that’s a life like doll! My granddaughter has a life like baby doll that can actually swim. Lexi sometimes puts it in the pool with us, and the baby doll “swims” all around the pool, delighting the kids swimming with us.

Why a Realistic Baby Doll?

One reason to buy realistic dolls other than other types of dolls is that kids love them! Why do kids love realistic dolls so much? Think back to when you were a kid. Weren’t interactive toys a lot more fun? There’s only so much you can do with baby dolls or other types of dolls that just sit there or lie there. Sure, these baby dolls are snuggly and cute, but they’re not much like a real baby. And most little girls want a toy baby doll so that they can play “mommy.”

Life like dolls give children an excellent opportunity for role playing. They can assume the role of mommy, big sister, or a babysitter. The lifelike dolls really stimulate the imagination and can help increase creativity in young children.

Another advantage of lifelike dolls is that they’re a great teaching toy. An interactive baby doll helps instill a sense of responsibility in young children. Lifelike dolls also give kids a chance to practice nurturing. Many psychologists believe that playing with a toy baby doll is one reason girls usually grow up to be more nurturing than do little boys. I don’t know if that’s true – I’m not a psychologist. I am a retired teacher, however, and I do know that interactive baby dolls can be used as teaching tools.

Buy interactive baby dolls and realistic dolls

Where to buy life like dolls? You can find interactive baby dolls and realistic dolls at toy stores and in the toy department at Walmart, Kmart, Target, and other retail giants. The problem here is that you won't have a large choice of dolls. If you wait until December to shop for toy baby dolls, you'll often find the shelves bare. I know whereof I speak - I have three granddaughters and reared three girls of my own, and they all love and loved toy baby dolls.

The best place to shop for baby dolls, especially life like dolls, is online. You'll find a huge selection, and prices are often lower than you'd find in actual stores.

Below are some of the top choices for interactive baby dolls, realistic dolls, and lifelike dolls. The uber popular baby Corolle dolls are included! To see more baby dolls, click on any of the products below.

It may be strange to some that sees adults buying them but for lots of adults, they cannot have children nor afford to adopt a real one. So before anyone bashes how strange an adult having one is, imagine you being in their shoes. What would you do?

julie on October 02, 2015:

hi! I see nothing wrong with us ladies having these reborn babies! I have 1 as that's all I can afford. Im 51; with a disability and will never have children cause of medical probs! I carry my baby around and I don't care what people think or say! It makes me happy! It reminds me of childhood; a simpler time of life! I had mostly positive experiences taking baby out; but I let anyone who asks "How old" that its my collectable reborn and they are astounded! I love buying "kami Grace" clothes and dressing her up for different holidays! Its just fun! and fills my heart with happiness!:) oh Im 51 too!:)

My youngest daughter loves baby dolls. Thanks for all this information. There will be a baby doll or two on my Christmas list and this helped me decide which ones I would like to get her.

real baby dolls on September 15, 2010:

Little girls and their dolls will forever be connected. It seems like every girl in the world has had her favorite doll as a child. While many kids grew up playing with baby dolls, these days little girls are able to play with interactive dolls that actually talk back and do other things. These dolls are meant to make learning fun and help children with the early developmental skills such as talking and singing the alphabet.

Holle Abee (author) from Georgia on September 07, 2010:

Thanks for that info!

Reborn Babies on September 06, 2010:

Reborning is the art of transforming a vinyl doll (either whole doll or kit) into a realistic looking baby doll (usually of a human baby- but sometimes elves or chimpanzees may be made). The person who makes this transformation is called a 'reborner" or reborn artist. The more realistic looking the doll is the more successful the artist is considered. Once completed the doll is called a 'reborn', 'reborn doll', 'reborn baby"or 'fake baby'.

Holle Abee (author) from Georgia on August 24, 2010:

Ew, Eth. Some life like dolls are almost too real. but my granddaughters love 'em.
