Brief Intro to the Infinite Flight App
The Infinite Flight app is one of the best flight simulator on mobile platforms which has even outperformed some older brands such as Flight-X simulator. With its highly realistic aircraft models and airports that comes with the purchase of the app (and more available under in-app purchase), players who fly a plane on Infinite Flight would feel as if they are flying a real plane. Its recent update has even added the long-awaited multiplayer feature which allow multiple real players to fly planes in the same airspace using internet connection.

The Boeing company has so far (as of the end of 2nd quarter 2014) produced and delivered more than 8,100 B737 aircraft, more than any other aircraft model ever produced in the aviation industry.
Why should you read this?
This hub will explain to beginners how to take off with a Boeing 737-700 aircraft, a free aircraft model, from Amsterdam’s Schiphol International Airport (ICAO code: EHAM), a free airport region. We want to takeoff in the most professional manner possible, so I will be giving you a list of procedure to go through in order to perform a proper takeoff.
Welcome On Board, Captain. Lets' Begin!
Pick a Boeing 737-700 aircraft of your preferred livery under the aircraft section (see pic 1, indicated in green circle) of the main menu. After that, go to the airport section (see pic 1, indicated in yellow circle) tap Amsterdam as your preferred city under which you will see a list of airport codes and names. Tap on EHAM, now, in the bar on the right hand side, you should see a number of available runways and their lengths (see pic 2 indications). Since a B737-700 aircraft needs a minimum runway length of 5250ft to take off in reality, we will pick Runway 04 (6620×174 ft) for our take off. Tap OK as indicated in pic 2 after picking your runway and you are now back in the main menu interface; then tap FLY (pic 1, indicated in white circle) near the lower right corner of the interface to load the simulation.
As soon as you enter the simulation, the system will ask you to tap on the screen to calibrate (see pic 3). simply hold your device on a flat surface, and tap on the screen. Now you are all set to begin your take off procedure.

1. Weather Conditions
Weather conditions can be set entirely according to your own preference. Simply tap on “Menu” on the lower right corner of the simulation interface and you will see a list of options which include “Weather”. As a beginner, you may want to practice taking-off under a flawless weather condition. In that case, you can set visibility to its highest (50km), zero wind velocity, zero wind gusts, no turbulence and lastly, a reasonable temperature of around 30°C
2. Weight and Balance
Again, under the same “Menu” interface, you can also alter the weight of the aircraft via the “Weight and Balance” option. You will encounter two abbreviations, namely “>MLW” and “>MTOW”. “>MLW” means the load of your aircraft has exceeded the Maximum Landing Weight (a plane landing with excessive landing weight can cause damage to the runway in real life). “>MTOW”, on the other hand means your aircraft has exceeded the Maximum Takeoff Weight, which will make it very difficult for the aircraft to be lifted from the ground during takeoff. In the event of taking-off, you will only need to make sure that the total weight of your aircraft does not exceed the Maximum Take Off Weight (MTOW); it is absolutely okay for your aircraft to exceed the maximum landing weight (MLW) during takeoff.
3. Flaps' Degree
The function of the flaps (a device located on the both wings of an aircraft) is to aid climb during take off and aid stall during landing. In reality, however, aircraft manufacturers will recommend how much the flaps on each model of aircraft should be extended during take off and landing. In B737-700, the recommended flap extension during take off is between 1° and 25°. Normally, the heavier the aircraft is, the more the flaps should be extended. Apart form weight, the extension of flaps also depend on other factors such as the length of the runway, fuel efficiency and so on. Since the runway that we have picked is a relatively log runway for a B737, set your flaps to 5 degree will do. Tap and hold on to the "Flaps" button and scroll your finger down, you will see a number of degrees to chose from (see pic 4, enclosed within yellow outline). Note that 30° and 40° are used during landings only.
4. Seatbelt sign
I am somewhat a person with obsessive compulsive disorder so I will activate the seatbelt sign every time even though I know this is just a game. Well, anyway, to make this as professional as possible, I think this step is extremely crucial. In order to remind your passengers to fasten their seat belts, simply tap the "Page" button (near the lower left corner) twice and you will see the "Seatbelt" button on your right hand side (see pic 5, indicated in red circle). Non-smoking sign is also available for activation right next to the Seatbelt button.
Tap on the HDG button (see pic 6, indicated in red circle) to activate fixed heading (which will simultaneously engage the autopilot, known as A/P button in the simulator). Doing this will ensure that your aircraft always aligns in the middle of the runway when you are accelerating to take off. This is not a necessary step BUT it should come in handy when there is a strong wind coming from the sides, avoiding your aircraft from being steered off course by the wind, and allowing you to perform a smooth take-off under extreme weather.
Calibrate your device one more time by tapping the Calibrate button under Menu before taking off.
Now you are all set to roll. Push throttle to 100% (see pic 7, indicated in green outline) and watch your speed, once your speed reaches 150 kts (see pic 7, indicated in blue outline), slightly pull the yoke (by pulling your device towards you) to lift the nose of the aircraft. Maintain until a circle appears under the horizon arrow (see pic 8, indicated in red), which signifies that your all your gears are now off the ground.
8. Vertical Speed
Activate your vertical speed as soon as your aircraft reach about 1000ft above sea level in altitude. This can be done by tapping the VS button on your right. Doing this will maintain the climb rate without you pulling or pushing the yoke. You may adjust the climb rate by pressing the VS button and scroll your finger up to increase climb rate, and scroll down to decrease.
9. Landing Gears
Recall your landing gears by tapping the Gear button on your right. This is usually done as soon as the aircraft is out of the runway area, or approximately 10 seconds after the aircraft was entirely lifted from the ground.
Have a safe flight, Captain!
Congratulations for your successful and hopefully smooth take off. Now fly around on autopilot by adjusting the headings, speed and altitude of your preference. In fact, we have yet to learn about flight planning (a computerised plan to fly from your origin airport to a destination airport via waypoints), but given its complexity, i will need some time to prepare (since i am also a beginner ;-)) before i can explain in detail in my next article.
