And so it begins....
When Popcap Games released Plants VS Zombies so many years ago I don't think even they anticipated the following it would gather. Since it's release colonies of human players have banded together to face the marauding hordes of zombies hell bent on eating the brains of people who only want to beautify their lawns with nice plants. This game is an interesting take on the classic tower defense genre. It is very entertaining and has great replay value. The basic concept is to collect sun energy points so you can plant a variety of plants that each have a special ability that will assist you in protecting your brain from the grips of crazed zombies. Each plant has it's own unique personality. Not only do the plants have attributes and personalities but the zombies do as well. Some zombies are wearing road cones and buckets on their heads. Others carry screen door shields or zombie dolphins. You will encounter zombie little people, a zombie yeti and even zombie Micheal Jackson who comes along and stirs up an entire dance crew set to thriller. Despite the cool and rather dangerous zombies one is sure to catch your attention. Dr. Zomboss.
Tip 1 Anticipate before you react
Patience flower san. You want to get that first plant out there in a hurry but wait for it. Let him place his first zombie that way you know where your plant should go. You never want to jump the gun because than you will leave a row of pots unprotected and a clear shot to brains for our little zombie friends. At first this zombie giant is going to be slow but it does not take him long to speed his attacks up.
Tip 2 Save those powerhouses!
The red pepper and the blue freeze mushroom are going to be key elements in beating Zomboss. The urge to send them out to take out the bucket head zombie or zombie football player might drive you nuts but remember you need to always have 1 of each in your inventory at the top. Zomboss will lower his goofy head every so often like a child who got caught in the cookie jar. When he raises up he will unleash a devastating fireball or a freezing ball of ice. These will easily work their way through your pots and plants. Use the red pepper to take out the ice. Be warned it must be placed in front of the ice ball to take any effect. Use the freeze mushroom to eliminate the fire ball. The freeze mushroom can be placed in any pot on screen so that is a plus. Remember to always have one of each on head or else you will regret it real fast.
Tip 3 Wide open spaces
This tip works hand in hand with the last one. Always leave at least one pot in each row open. That way if you need to place a pepper you can do just that. I recommend the first pot be the one you leave open. That way you have speed on your side.
Tip 4 Pots, Pots, and More Pots
It is so tempting to stretch pots right up to the big meanie but that is a quick way to fail. He will simply smash them plus those spare pots have a use. I suggest building out until each row has four to 5 pots. Now start saving the rest in your inventory. Why, you ask? After every appearance by Zomboss there is a chance he will unleash an ambulance, yes, 911 call gone very bad, on you. This attack will smash 6 of your pots, and kill the plants they contain. If you have stock piled pots than you will be able to rebuild your attack front quicker and lower the risk of brain consumption. Remember gaps in the ranks are just what zombies need to eat the guy whose roof you are playing on.
Tip 5 Damned hanging zombies!!!!
Nothing is as annoying as a watermelon launching plant surviving the ambulance just to get taken by a stupid hanging zombie. These are the most annoying of the zombies in the boss battle. There are several ways to deal with them. If you can spare a pepper or a freeze plant that will allow for easy disposal of these menaces. Otherwise just be ready to fill the occupied spot that is now vacant in the pots.
Tip 6 Major Damage at a Cost
There is a simple yet effective way to deal massive damage to Zomboss when he lowers his head. If you have several freeze mushrooms stocked up use them. This will freeze the giant freak long enough for you to make a serious attack on him. If you have three freezers stocked use two on him. This will give you a good deal of time to pelt him with garden goodies and make him think twice about getting all up on your roof.
Tip 7 The most important tip of all
Have fun!!! This game is such an entertaining ride I think you will enjoy it greatly. If you are fighting the boss in normal game play mode than enjoy your music video of Sunflower singing. If this battle is on the mini game mode you will be rewarded with a sac of money and really who doesn't want a sac of money. I hope this little guide has helped you in some way and by all means go out there and show those zombies that we want to keep our brains.
This is me taking on whole hateful britches.
