Intro

Also upon request I have created a Twitter account for Johnrr's Hubs which can be found here https://twitter.com/Johnrr631992

ALSO!!! - I am starting a new clan. If you are reading this feel free to message me on Xbox Live, or on Twitter. As of now I am only open to people on Xbox, but will be moving multi-platform in December/January. So please feel free to contact me with questions. Also I will have a Website specifically for the clan, and it will be pretty big. My Gamertag is MKS JohnR

This Hub, will go through a short strategy for every map. This is designed for when you are playing SOLO Survival mode. I will go through each map with a short description of the strategy for that map. Before reading this hub completely you should read my hub on general info for survival mode so you can learn all the tricks of this game mode, and which weapons are best, and equipment. I will not refer to anything that you should wield, or equip in the strategy sections as it will be the same for all, and i have a guide written specifically for that. I will post the link to that guide directly below this. Also i will post a legend which can be applied to all maps which will show the ORANGE X's are turret placement, RED X's are going to be player placement, and blue lines will be where the enemy is coming from.

Also keep in mind this is only for playing by yourself, and i was asked to make this guide, if you do not agree with any strategy please feel free to comment below with map, and your strategy. If it works better than mine, i will change it and give you credit, but these strategies worked for me which is why i am sharing them with you. Please also note that i don't typically play solo survival mode, but was asked to make this guide, on my other guides. At the very bottom I will include a link which will show you how to do survival mode on all the other maps. Every map has its own guide for the team survival, but i am only doing one LARGE hub for the solo survival mode. As i said before please feel free to ask questions, comments or concerns, and i usually respond within a few hours. Please keep the comments clean, this is not youtube, this is to help players get to high levels using my strategy. Thanks in advance.

The Legend for all the Map pictures

The basics for all the maps

Ok so here i will talk about some basic things you should remember to do, and that you should follow, and can apply to every map below. Keep in mind the drawings i put below, worked for me, and allowed me to get to high levels by myself. Also note that on some maps, the turret placement, and player placement can be swapped, just that was my preference when i played ( for instance on the map Resistance, if you want to swap the turrets, and player placement that is fine). Remember that LMG's are good, Self revive is 100% key when playing alone, that you should keep all your equipment well stocked, and be prepared. Remember that if you want to know anything more about what you should buy, or anything please refer to my survival mode guide that i posted a link to above.

Also keep in mind that there will be times when you need to run, especially on juggernaut levels, when you will face more than 1 juggernaut at a time. If so, i would suggest running early in rounds, so that the enemy does not destroy your turret, and making your way back to your camping spot at the end of the round. Also if you do get a good enough distance it is typically advised that you should restock up on ammo, and equipment while you are making your way around the map, especially if you need to restock self revive.

Also your main goal for my strategies is that you should be forcing the enemy into a controlled group setting, and killing them while they are a whole unit. All of my strategies are made to group the enemy together to make your life simple. While there are other strategies that may work better, mine are more for the simple approach to each map that will allow you to get far in the game.

Please note that this hub has all the maps in alphabetical order, arkaden first, village last etc.....

Also if you scroll down to the bottom, i posted the links to the maps for team survival mode, each map has its own guide.

Arkaden

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Arkaden

Ok so lets get this started. On this map i chose the outer area as your camping spot. Although inside you will be safe from choppers at most locations, i found this area outside to be the perfect spot for someone to go, and be able to escape quickly, with minimal routes up to them. So i placed the turrets themselves by the big staircase, but far enough back so that they can't get hit from people halfway up the stair case, so you can defend them if need be. Also your main goal will be watching any people coming up the middle. You should be safe from gunfire if you stay prone, sometimes crouched, and if you do get shot from someone coming out the main doors, just hit them a couple times and they'll start to come after you. Your main goal here is to stay hidden from gunfire but, hold down this area. If you need to move on juggernaut rounds, luckily you can jump off at any point on the side rails that best suit you.

Bakaara

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Bakaara

So this is going to be a similar strategy to that of my team survival mode hub that is for Bakaara, meaning that you will be in the same spot, the only difference is this time your viewpoint. You should set your turrets up looking down the street that way the majority of the enemy troops that come at you, will run into the turret gunfire and you will only have to stress about the people who come from the left side. Keep in mind some can go around the turrets, and come on your right, so you should be watching for them as well, but as far as your main point of view, you should be looking down the left hand side of the map towards the enemy waiting for them to come at you. Obviously this being the hardest map, you should be moving on juggernaut rounds, as you can get trapped if you don't, but your main goal is that you should watch the left, and let the turret's watch the right hand side.

Bootleg

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Bootleg

This map in my opinion is very tough, for both single, and multiple players, hence why i haven't gotten around to writing a guide for this map for team survival yet. But anyway, when i tried this by myself i found that if you camp upstairs in the building where i have shown you, you will be able to stay fairly well protected, and be able to fight off the troops effectively. Also this will allow you to make the enemy file into 1 route on each side, and the turrets will do a lot of work on 1 angle, and on the other angle you will do a good amount of work as well, just remember to watch your back and help your turrets out once ina while if need be. At later points when you need to move, i jumped over the railing, and made my way to other sides of the map, and eventually made my way back to the starting point.

Carbon

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Carbon

On this map, i find that this strategy was my favorite of all of them. I found that this strategy was extremely efficient in taking out enemy troops and staying well hidden and protected, while you are far from the equipment box, you are right beside the ammo crate which is very beneficial to you.

Scroll to Continue

With this strategy i have set up your main goal should be to have your turrets facing the bottom of the hill. You should also be facing the other way while the enemy troops are coming towards you and your turret. Your turret should be facing one way, while you watch the other direction, and kill the enemy, while looking behind you protecting your turret every once in a while. Your main goal here is to take the enemy out as they file virtually into a single line and come at you. And at later rounds when you must escape, simply go through the crate and jump over the edge, this will allow you to have an easy escape route that the other team will not be able to defend against.

Dome

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Dome

This is an interesting map. Although Resistance seems to be the most popular since its the first one, this map has a lot of popularity, and this is where people originally suggested me making the solo player guide. So i put a lot of effort finding the best strategy that suited me for 1 person playing.

On this map, you should be inside the dome if by yourself. This is by far the best strategy for you to follow as there are only two entrances, ammo box inside, and you can easily crouch, and stand behind object to avoid getting hit by bullets. On this map the best thing to start with is placing the turrets facing one of the exits. It does not matter which way they face, just remember that if that's your getaway strategy that the grenade turrets can put you down if you walk in from of a grenade(trust me i know). It does not matter which way they face, but you should have two turrets that are facing one of the exits, while you watch the other exits. On juggernaut rounds, i honestly suggest you move, unless you have the fire power, equipment, and riot team to hold down this area, in that case just lay into them and take them out fast, but from personal experience, i usually just ran and had everyone chase me, while i made my way to predator missiles, and circled the map taking troops out slowly, but steadily. You should spend 90% of your game in this dome, crouched, or prone, and the other 10% running on juggernaut rounds, or refilling ammo/equipment/kill streaks

Downturn

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Downturn

This is another map that i find is pretty tough when playing by yourself. I tried a couple of strategies that i had hoped would work, and what i had ended up finding out was that the best way to group the enemy together was by camping on the stairway, so this is my strategy for Downturn.

You should start off by setting your turrets up down stairs, now if you use this as our escape route, obviously you have to be very careful, as this can easily hurt you. This strategy could easily set you up to fail, but overall you should be fine if you do this right. After your initial setup of the turrets, your main goal will be, to watch the other way, and take out the enemy as they begin to file down the stairs to come get you. If done right you should have no problem making it to higher rounds. When you do need to move at later rounds, either go up or down, and cycle around the map, overall making it back to your initial spot to re-defend yourself at your spot. As i have said before, if you leave early enough before your turrets hit a juggernaut, typically they will not fight the turrets and will come straight after you.

Fallen

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Fallen

The strategy on this map is fairly simple. If you follow this right you should be able to make it to high rounds, as it is very easy to kill enemy troops on this map. First off. Set you turrets up on the outside balcony, This can be quite tough, but there are a couple spots that allow you to do this. Your next goal is to pretty much just watch behind you, or inside the building. This will allow you to cover yourself, while taking the enemy out as they one by one come up the stairs, and walk inside the building. When you do need an escape route, i found the best way is to go out the window. If you go out the window try to land on the ledge right outside so you don't fall all the way to the ground, but then just start circling the map until you make your way back to the start. This should easily protect you until the later rounds of the game.

Hardhat

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Hardhat

So this strategy is not all that far off from my other hardhat strategy for when you are playing with a team. My reasoning for choosing this spot, is i felt that it held a good overall area, near the ammo box, that allows you to make the enemy all file into 1 area, group together, and make life easier for you to take them out.

The overall strategy goes as follows. you should set up both your turrets facing one of the directions, while you face the other, every once in a while turning around to protect the well being of your turret. You should be focused solely on getting the enemy grouped together so you can take them out as efficiently as possible. For later rounds when the juggernauts come in, i consider this one of the hardest maps to kill the juggernauts, as they typically come in with enemy troops, and a helicopter, and it is very hard to focus on taking the juggernauts out right away, when there is so many other things happening on the map. Although you should be fully capable of being able to move around this map, while taking out the juggernauts as they come at you, and allowing yourself to make your way to get more predator missiles. Remember when running that movement is key, and that the more turns and corners that you maneuver around the better you will survive on a run strategy. At the end of the round, just make your way back to the camping spot to survive.

Interchange

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Interchange

Ok, so here I chose to camp at a corner of the map. On my team strategy i virtually threw you in the middle of the map, and told you how to survive high rounds, but if you are playing by yourself no strategy really works where the enemy can come from more than 1 angle. So i chose this section of the map, and although it may be fairly far away from everything, this area will allow you to best hold down a good stretch of land, and disable the enemy from coming from any angle. This will allow them to only come from those two set paths i have showed you, and will make it extremely simple for your turrets to take the enemy out. The only downfall to this strategy is the fact that you have to go so far for the turrets, but overall i like this strategy is best to help you get as far as need be in the map.

Lockdown

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Lockdown

This strategy is a fun strategy to run, with a couple of exit points, and gives you an easy way to take out the enemy. Overall your main goal is to aim the turrets at one doorway, and shoot the enemy as they come in the other doorway. They should file in 1 by 1, making this an easy massacre for you to take out the enemy as they rush in to come get you. As later rounds come on, you should be prepared to move when juggernauts come, as they can take you out fast, what i suggest you doing, is that you should jump out the window before they get to your turrets, as if the turrets hit them once they will kill the turret before coming after you. So if you jump out the window early enough, you should be able to save yourself some $$$$ by not having to buy new turrets later on in the higher rounds. Also this will give you a good chance to start making your getaway, to go buy new equipment if needed, and to get your predator missiles to take out the juggernauts ( remember juggernaut killing strategies are in the how to make it to high levels guide above). And overall you should be able to make it to high rounds using this survival strategy as it will allow you to stay hidden from helicopters ( unless in front of a window), and take out the enemy as they file in to come get you.

Mission

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Mission

This strategy is similar to most strategies for Mission, although i have changed the main aspect a bit to fit the Solo Survival setting. Your main goal here should be that you are looking to group the enemy and have the coming towards you in 1 route. So where i have set up, allows all the enemy to file in towards your turrets, and any extra enemy troops will come from the other angle towards you. This is also set up for a quick escape off the edge if need be, and will allow you to make a safe run for it once you are off the side of the cliff. This strategy really works well, on juggernaut rounds to easily get away from enemy troops.

Outpost

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Outpost

The strategy for this map is fairly simple, and will allow you to get to high rounds. initially i was going to have the strategy along the path where B would be on domination, but when i tried that strategy i got cornered way to easily and i could not escape. So i decided to chagne things up a bit, and switch things around.

When you camp back here, you should have your turrets facing one direction while you look the other direction and take out the enemy troops as they come at you, and this will allow you to efficiently destroy the enemy from both directions as they group up. This will also allow you to successfully escape when the need be, and allow you to go to great lengths in order to ensure the overall survival of yourself. this strategy is the the best way i found to make it to high levels when playing by yourself, and would be very simple to follow.

Resistance

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Resistance

Ok, so on resistance this is also similar to my team play guide. You will be camping in the same spot. This spot gives you a good amount of protection from fire, and allows you to easily take out enemy troops. You can switch the turrets with player placement if you like, but you do not have to. personally i like the way i set this up because its tough for the enemy to attack the turrets, and by the time they start getting in abundance by the turrets you can turn around and shoot them. Keep in mind where you are playing solo, there will come a time when you need to move, when this happens, there are many exit points you can take, and circle the map, eventually coming back to the original spot. This will allow you to take cover accurately and stay hidden from the enemy troops. Overall you main goal on this section is to stay hidden and take out enemy troops as best as you can.

Seatown

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Seatown

This map is fairly simple to get very far. And i chose this strategy because it will allow you to get to high levels with fairly small effort. Also the escape route is fairly simple, as all you must do is jump out the window in order to get yourself away in case of juggernaut rounds.

Now as far your actual strategy goes, you should set your turrets up in one direction, and you on the other. As far as where they go, you can switch the locations up, just make sure the two entrances are covered, and also remember that you are letting the enemy come to you, and fie into a single line, or group, and then taking them out as they form a large group in front of you. When you do need to move, it is very simple for you to move out a window in order to get away. Ans make sure that when you are using another route to get away, you eventually make your way back to the spot to camp.

Underground

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Underground

Undergrounds strategy is very very straight forward. Your main goal is to set up your one direction, and you should face the other, and you should use the tunnel i have mapped out as your escape route as well when you get in trouble. If On the team survival, i have you camping at the top of the stairs but this is not effective on this map solely because of the many routes the enemy can take. Now if your experienced that may be a better option, but these guides are made to make things very simple, and allow you the best advantage. So if you camp where the X's are then you will be able to force the enemy into a group setting where you can easily take them out, and take the game to high levels.

Village

guide-for-all-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-spec-ops-survival-mode-maps-for-solo-players-includes-all-maps

Village

This map's strategy is fairly simple to follow. First let me explain that, the majority of tis map you will spend underneath the bridge. That tis whole strategy takes place under the bride, and not on top of the bridge, and also the turret, and player placement can change, and move a little bit, i just had to put each on spots where you would mistake this as a on top of bridge strategy. Your main goal here should be taking the enemy out as they group up and letting you turret do the majority of the work, while you cover yourself on the other side. On later rounds, leave yourself an escape route, and rush through the enemy troops to escape, keep in mind, that you can get trapped on this strategy, but if you kill the enemy , and set up your turrets right, you should be fine making it to high rounds using this strategy.

So there are the strategies for the SOLO maps for survival mode. Below i Will include links to my other survival mode maps, these are all for team survival mode, and each map will get its own map.

I don't know better : Sleight of Hands or Extreme Conditioning?

Well, I used EC for flee from jugs when it comes, or trying to reach a safe place to use Predator before I'm injured.

I think on underground you can place 2 grenade turrets at air support box and you take cover behind the bus. Don't forget to place some claymores at the entrance of the tunnel, or hostiles can take your turrets quickly.

Pardon me if any misspell or error in english :D

Tyrone on June 03, 2016:

In Resistance you should camp in the small house in the middle,,as for the juggernaut their is a way of making sure that they can't hit you!

Rich Davis on January 02, 2016:

If you look out the rear of the canopy (behind the air drop box) you will see the helicopters spawn on the roof of a nearby building. You will have several seconds to light'em up and possibly destroy at least one of them before they even take off.

shadowfireBFG on August 31, 2015:

cannot pass wave 13 on bootleg your plan gets me killed at the first jug because the turrets do absolutely nothing no matter which kind or where you put them around the ramp i tried to get another player to help but everyone wants to only play dome and will leave if any other map is selected my psn is the name i posted this as if anyone wants to try

Wraith on February 16, 2014:

Okay, I recently got my Steam account banned on MW3 multiplayer for something stupid (If you want to me to talk about it, feel free to ask. The story is kind of convoluted.), so I got the game again on a second account (not getting the DLC this time). I've been working through the survival stuff, and I have found that, for lower level players (primarily those who don't have Sleight of Hand yet), pretty much the best thing you can do is keep an AK-47. Much faster reload than the LMGs, very high damage. My current strategy is to buy an FMG-9 (and give it a red dot sight) once my starting weapon(s) (and the Model 1887, if the map has it) and MP5 run out of ammo, then, once THAT runs out of ammo, I just hold onto the AK-47 and ACR. The AK-47 can (and will) kill one of the helicopters in ~25 bullets (if most of them hit the cockpit, it seems to do more damage that way). The ACR and FAD both take more than one magazine to kill helos.

Since I'm only trying to get to wave 15 (to get the "Unstoppable" title), I dont' really use a camping strategy (since those are typically much longer term tactics). As for the juggernauts and helicopters, I have a few tactics I regularly use. For helicopters, I'll usually just kill them with whatever guns I have on me, or I'll use a predator missile if I feel like it. In later waves, I'll just run away until the the first one arrives, then hose it with an AK. Repeat for any other helos in the wave. As for juggernauts, sometimes I'll use the traditional C4 stacks, other times I'll use airstrikes to kill multiple juggernauts (I almost got a 3-for-1 the other day).

Jsjxchd on December 04, 2013:

This is great and all but what about the juggernauts on resistance

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on May 24, 2013:

Yah waiting to long will mess you up in the long run, but I think it is still a safer strategy to wait as long as possible before you spend any money.

Wraith on May 22, 2013:

I agree. Unfortunately, I tend to end up waiting a *little* too long quite often... things get VERY "not pretty" rather quickly when that happens...

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on April 30, 2013:

WOW Wraith.. Not gonna lie.. I was laughing at the beginning of that post, and thought it was funny.. I comment on a lot of people.. but some deserve to be ignored so I don't personally write that, but I couldn't have said anything better myself. AND it's been a looonnnggg time since I've played survival, but I would have to agree with what you have posted. I try not to spend ANY money until I really have to.. It is sooooo much better to wait as long as you possibly can..

Wraith on April 29, 2013:

. . . Then you should've re-typed it with caps lock off. Apologizing, in the same post, like that just makes you look a little stupid. (I spent almost half a minute trying to figure out some way to put it nicely. Sorry, but I'm a lot more comfortable with being blunt.)

In any case, if you're going to try to toss C4 at a Juggernaut to kill him, BE CAREFUL!!!! They CAN shoot them out of the air!

Also, I find the best way to save/conserve money/resources up to wave 5 (I usually do this to wave 10, but it's really your choice) is to use your pistol (pick up the weapons dropped by the first wave of enemies (for the sake of simplicity, the Model 1887, and I'm not going to do a Juggernaut/Helicopter wave strategy in here), but don't use them yet) until it runs out of ammo. By this time, the second tier enemies (the ones with the MP5) should have arrived, so switch the empty pistol out for one of those, and use the Model until you run out of ammo. I would advise staying away from the USAS when the suicide soldiers arrive. It just doesn't seem to do as much damage as the Model (same goes for the PP90M1 from the chemical agents and the PM-9 from the claymore experts, compared to the assault rifles).

Then the AK-47 users arrive. The AK-47 is a good survival mode weapon, I believe it does more damage with its 30-round clip than the FAD does with its 40-round clip. Don't use the AK-47s yet, buy an LMG (or your choice of other weapon) from the weapons crate. Use the ACR used by the next tier enemies, with your LMG for backup/anti-Juggernaut/anti-helicopter. After the ACR ammo runs out (including ammo on the ground), switch it out for an AK-47 and collect as much dropped ammo as you can (if possible, try to get a bunch of AKs with full ammo stored up in some area so you can pick up a lot of spare ammo when you run low). When the AK-47 runs out, don't bother with the FAD (see above note), but buy another LMG (or whatever you want) from the weapons crate.

General note: Buy Sleight of Hand the INSTANT you finish a wave and you have more than $5000 total. You can get longer distances by sprinting, jumping, and repeating than Extreme Conditioning will give you. Stalker shouldn't really make much of a difference. Same goes for Quickdraw, unless you're practicing quickscoping or something. And Steady Aim won't make a difference once the enemies REALLY start swarming. . . Trust me. Go with Sleight of Hand. Your weapons will REALLY thank you.

To sum it all up: Use the starting pistol until you run out of ammo, use the Model 1887 dropped by enemies until you run out of ammo, use the MP5 dropped by enemies until you run out of ammo, buy a gun (LMG preferrably), use the ACR dropped by enemies until you run out ammo, use the AK-47 dropped by the enemies before the ones with the ACRs until you run out of ammo, then buy another gun (LMG, preferrably).

If you don't like the starting pistol, feel free to buy another one (I don't like the MP412 at all...). The 'best' LMGs to buy are the MG36 and the L86 (both are clip-fed, not belt-fed, so they have the fastest reloads of the category). ALWAYS buy sleight of hand. And one last thing: If you can work out a system, 5 C4 packets can let you take out almost an entire wave in one go (I've cleared wave 21 on Seatown in 21 seconds :D), 5 C4 are enough to kill regular Juggernauts and Riot Shield Juggernauts, and 10 C4 are more than enough to kill one Armored Juggernaut (the ones with the red and yellow armor).

. . . Holy crap. That has to be the single longest thing I've EVER posted ANYWHERE. XD

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on March 12, 2013:

WOW, never thought of that, and that is not bad. I know that the bottom left point assists can really boost your earnings in a round, but i never thought of using them to my advantage in the first couple rounds...

John from Tennessee on March 11, 2013:

Hey I have a tip on how to get lots of money but first i want to say that these guides that Johnrr makes are really helpful and ive been reading a lot of them and watching a few of his videos. Thanks for helping

On the very first wave, my record is getting 4000 dollars. keep restarting the mission until it says headshots and rampage in the bottom left corner. get as many headshots as you can as fast as you can. I can usually get an LMG on wave 2 by doing it, and close to a striker the next

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on March 07, 2013:

My biggest tip is that you just keep with it. I have seen followers say its impossible to beat level 25, and now hit 50+... Umm I usually wait until round 5 before I start spending money, but overall it is mainly up to your level. If you check out my resistance guides, and other survival maps I give strategies for each particular map for two people but can be used on solo as well.. I suggest just focusing on taking you time, and practicing. As your aim gets better, and you learn, you will find the best method for you to use, and on top of my methods I know my resistance guide has hundreds of comments from people and a lot of other strategies to try.
