Highlighter: An Essential in School and Office
For most students and business people, a handy highlighter is essential. You'll never know when you need a highlighter whether it is for school notes, marking random words, totals in budgets or statistics for a business. They play an important role in a students or business persons life. Student use them every day during lectures, summaries and notes.
When you go to buy highlighters in the shop or on Amazon, you are faced with hundreds of brands all claiming that they are going to do the best job. Whilst they probably will be good highlighters, it is always worth knowing which highlighter is suited best for you. You are also faced with so many colours: pink, green, yellow, orange, blue or purple. Aargh? Which one do you choose? Well, that's what I am here for. I have tried and tested many brands and I will be picking out the best brands of highlighter that you will most definitely like. All highlighters mentioned can be easily bought on Amazon.
I think everyone has heard of this one. It is the more traditional kind, suited to every person or aspect. They are chunky so if you are a student and you have a small pencil case, don't buy a 5 pack of these as they will not fit! Even one or two highlighters should fit OK. The ink is shiny, extra fluorescent and lasts very long. These highlighters are suited to everybody, home, business, student or office, these are perfect. You can also buy these in a variety of colours.
In addition to the regular sized Stabilo Boss highlighters there are 'mini' Boss highlighters too. These highlighters have the same characteristics of the regular Boss series but are smaller with a mini size. They would be the size of your thumb, if that would put it in simple context. These highlighters would be suited to a student with a smaller pencil case and want to have a variety of colours.
Perhaps the second most common highlighter to the Boss series, this highlighter is one of the most famous highlighters on this planet to date. It has the same size as Boss. The cap is hard to pull off, if you don't know how, you have to twist it. Not exactly handy if you want to speed write and highlight during a lecture! The highlighter has a very yellow colour, and is not fluorescent at all. That means it is more of a yellow marker than a highlighter! Other than that, it lasts very long, over a year or so, depending on how long you use it and if you mind it well, it will produce good quality results every time. Great value for money, too. This highlighter would be more suited towards the home and business.
Stabilo Swing Cool
This highlighter is much more different towards the more traditional highlighter. It is much slimmer in design and has a metallic finish and gleam. The great thing about this highlighter is that you can many various colours of this highlighter in the same pencil case or pencil pot without it getting too crammed. The pack you can buy on Amazon comes in a variety of colours. Regarding ink flow, it is quite good, shiny and extra-fluorescent but leaves a little residue at the end. Also, this highlighter has a clip at the end so you can clip this onto your coat, folder, pencil case or zip. Special edition packs can also be bought including a special edition pack with tropical designs on the cover. A great buy.
Star Buy: Pentel Handyline
The most unheard about of all, but definitely the best highlighter made. Slim, compact in design and engineered to accuracy, these highlighters are in a word, amazing. None of the other highlighters above impressed me enough. Whilst they were good, I wanted something better. I tried a sample of the Pentel Handyline and I was hooked. I found a pack of five on Amazon ad Ebay, a six pack is also available. When they arrived, they were exactly how I expected them to be. They are super slim and you can easily fit five of them in a pencil pot or pencil case. Another great feature is that they have a click mechanism at the end. Click the pen, the nib comes out, click it again it goes back in! The ink is superb. It is super vivid, super fluorescent and shiny and lasts very long. This is a must-have for any person looking for a highlighter.

Thanks so much for giving your thoughts on this hub, hi-five, I get excited going into a stationery shop too, I thought I was the only one! I just love anything 'stationery' and I'm probably a stationery geek. The problem with the streaks coming across a freshly printed page when highlighting text is very annoying. Hmm... I recommend the brands above or if you want to be more specialised I recommend buying any of the Sharpie highlighters, most of them leave no smudges or stains when highlighting fresh ink or text. It usually says on the box if it is smudge-free or not.

I love office supplies. I'm one of those people who gets excited walking in to a Staples or Office Max! LOL The cheap highlighters always leave black streaks across the paper. Whenever I print something and have to highlight notes, it leaves streaks which is most annoying. I'll have to check out some of these brands you recommend.
