I've played Dead by Daylight for 3 years now and knowing that this game has a small player base compared to many other games makes me sad.

About the game

"Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer (4v1) horror game where one player takes on the role of the savage Killer, and other four player play as Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught, tortured and killed.
Survivors play in the third-person and have the advantage of better situtation awarness. The Killer plays in the first-person and is more focused on their prey.
The Survivors' goal in each encounter is to escape the Killing Ground without getting caught by the Killer - sometimes that sounds easier than it is, especially when the environment changes every time you play."

-Behaviour Interactive Inc.

Behaviour explained the basics of the game really well themselves so I don't feel the need to explain it over, but I will add that the survivors main way of escape is to repair generators on the map and then open the exit gate, having small or even close to none communication with each other.

Playable killers and survivors

The game consists of 20 playable killers:
The Trapper
Shape also known as Myers
Cannibal is also known as Leatherface
Nightmare also known as Freddy Kruger
The Pig from the movie Saw
Ghost Face from Scream
Demogorgon from Stranger Things

And the newest killer Executioner also known as Pyramid Head from Silent Hill

Each killer has a unique power that only they can use and power up with one time use add-ons that they get for leveling up. Many of the killers listed above have to be bought by ingame currency but also with real money. Licenced killers like Ghost Face, Myers and so on are only playable if you buy them with real money. Each DLC costs about 5 euros and contains a killer and a survior so you get a bang for your buck with the content the DLC gives you. But if you don't want to buy the DLC that's is completly fine because the game itself gives you a good amount of base characters.

As for survivors we have a total of 22. The survivor list consists of:

Laurie Strode
William "Bill" Overbeck
Quentin Smith
David Tapp
Ashley "Ash" Williams
Nancy Wheeler
Steve Harrington
Cheryl Mason

The same things that I pointed out with getting new playable killers are the same here.

Where the game is at now

Dead by Daylight at the time of writing this has a peak player count of 40 000 players on steam. The game costs 20 euros and that combined with DLC turns into a much bigger price. The game has had its ups and downs and has a past of being broken and buggy, but the devs have not given up on this game and have managed to fix a lot of problems and have even open dedicated servers and are pumping out tons of content. I agree that the price of 20 euros is a bit too much knowing that a lot of content is hidden behind a pay wall, but you can still experience playing against DLC killers and with DLC surviors even without owning the DLC. But if that is still a turn off for you just wait until a Steam sale and pick up for as cheap as 5-10 euros and buy one or two DLC every month what would make for about 5-14 euros a month. Dead by Daylight also hosts tons of DLC sales where you can almost buy all killers and survivors for 20 euros. The games player count is slowly rising and now is the best time to hop onto steam and pick this gem up.

First time writing

Thanks for reading my article on Dead by Daylight. This is the first time I've ever done something like this and I would really like feedback on what to do better and what types of subtitles I should go into more detail about. I really enjoy games I thought why not give my opinion on them a bit so please give me time to start getting a hang of this. Anyways I hope you enjoyed the read. Now stay safe and healthy and have a nice summer 2020 summer!
