Tips and strategy for Carbon on survival mode in spec ops, on Call Of Duty Modern warfare 3 , how to get far MW3

The map carbon is a fairly simple map to play survival mode on by yourself or with friends. This guide will teach even a very basic beginner how to get to at least level 30+ with little effort. This map is obviously easier if two people are playing but you can do it alone.

Right below is a link to my other hub teaching the basics and going over which weapons should be used in survival mode, and the strategies that can be applied to ALL the maps.

The strategy for two

Ok guys, so the strategy is fairly simple on this map. And that is camp, and let the enemy come to you. Please look at the photo below as i will reference it A LOT throughout this guide, and will reference those x's a lot.

Ok, so for the first 5 or so rounds, just run around, have fun, build up money, and get ready for the later rounds. There is no need for you to initially start the game off by camping, as this will drag out the first few levels. Also note that whoever is going to play the part of the RED X must have a LMG. It is suggested that person should have 2 LMG's, but one will be enough for the first few camping rounds. The BLUE X can use any weapon, but it is still suggested that the BLUE X uses a LMG as well. (once again please pay attention to the X's at the bottom to realize who I am referring to).

So now lets jump ahead to say round 10. You and your friend should both have at least 1 LMG, and you should be ready to start camping. Please note how far the kill streaks are from your area, so save this for last guy each round, or hustle as soon as a round is over. I do suggest having a riot shield team from each player to assist you in killing.

So now lets jump to the actually game style. The RED X will have most of the action, and Each person can take turns going to the RED X position. What you want to do is lay prone, and look up the staircase in the building directly ahead of you. At the beginning of each round all of the enemy players will come through the doorway and try to run down the stairs. Your main goal is to just shoot them as they come down.

The BLUE X's job is a little different. You are going to be watching everything that is not at the doorway where the RED X is. Every once in a while a couple enemy players will run around, or a different route, so your goal is to help your buddy who is watching the staircase and take them out. Luckily you will also have the help of the riot shield team as they will stay outside, and i think one of the best plans as well is facing turrets in various directions( you will see which direction best fits you depending where the enemy will leak through).

When the juggernaut rounds come....... This is a little trickier. In the area behind where the BLUE X is, should be the grenade box, and where you should hide on helicopter rounds, or juggernaut rounds. Now remember this map is a llittle trickier than the easiest rounds, so you WILL go down at some point. It is almost impossible to be perfect and not go down at some point on this map. This is why the area where you are camping is another good area. Because you can easily get another self revive after you go down. Also you will be able to continue replenishing flash grenades, grenades, claymores, and c-4 for the juggernaut.

Following this strategy is fairly simple, and although it may have gotten confusing with the "BLUE X", and "RED X", once you're in a game you will understand fully how to do this strategy which can be very simple. This strategy can also be a lot harder is you make it that way.

Things to remember. Try not to put any sentries looking at the staircase/doorway as the person watching it. This will either hurt your teammate or just be a waste. You want to make both your lives easier so that you can get as far as possible so just try placements of this to make your own life easy.

The strategy for 1.

This is obviously going to be tougher for a person trying to get to high levels especially using my strategy above. My strategy above works best with 2, but you can still try it with 1. Just remember to plant all sentries facing outward away from you, and to have a riot squad, and you should not have a problem using this strategy for the first 20 rounds. After that you will start to face problems and this is when i suggest you either move to another area, like maybe the grenade room. The grenade box room will allow you to pick up the lethal assists, like grenades C-4 etc. and also allow you to get self revive if you do go down. At high levels i do not suggest camping to far away from the grenade box, in case you do go down.

So there you have it. A basic guide that will get you through the level carbon on survival mode. If you have any comments or questions please feel free to ask. Also I would like to add, that this guide has worked for me, and my friends, but will not work for everybody as everyone plays differently...

Single Player mode: if you go up to the right side of the map to the top of the crates there is an open crate that you can walk through. The enemies cannot climb up crates to come at you from the back but you can use this as an escape route. The only time this spot is not worth a pennies is during the helicopter waves, but you can utilize this even with the juggernauts. Just pluck off as many of the easy guys as they come to the opening before the juggernaut(s) get to it. then jump off the escape route and do whatever you need to do. It will take them about 5-10 seconds to turn around and catch up with you(depending on which direction you are running) as they cannot jump from the escape route themselves. Its an advantage if you need to get more bullets, flashbangs, etc. I'm still kinda new to MW3 but I have reached 36 using this trick. Now if I can come up with a new strategy for the helicopter waves then I will be great

Well, a minor update about the sentry killing a helicopter. I haven't managed to pull it off on Mission again yet, but it is easy as HELL to do on Terminal. (I love setting up camp in the security section XD)

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on July 13, 2012:

Thanks that would be extremely helpful, I would also like a video of someone dropping care package crate on a jugg.. maybe in time will show.

Wraith on July 12, 2012:

If I ever manage to pull it off again, I'll try to record a video. The only problem is that I change my sentry setup before and after helicopter waves.

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on July 06, 2012:

I may have to try that out. Nothing worse than when helicopters take them out. And being able to take a helicopter out without getting shot would be GREAT.

Wraith on July 05, 2012:

Well, I managed to get the sentry in JUST the right spot under an overhand so the sentry could see the back end of the helicopter but the helicopters gun couldn't spot the sentry. I haven't managed to find that spot since.

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on July 05, 2012:

I never have luck with sentries on helicopters. It seems like as soon as 1 shoots the helicopter it takes the helicopters attention away from me, and they take out the turrets instantly. Which is why I am such a firm believer in shooting helicopters at the beginning BEFORE anything else.

Wraith on July 05, 2012:

Yeah, I've actually had a grenade sentry take out a helicopter on its own on Mission before.

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on July 03, 2012:

Yes Sentries will shoot helicopters, Thanks for the comment!

SEAL on July 03, 2012:

hey great guide. i just hav one question. will sentries shot at helecopters.

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on June 27, 2012:

Jordan the only thing I have against making videos is that I would post them on youtube, and youtube pays about 1/10 what I get paid on here. Plus I try my best to explain the maps completely and thoroughly. Not to mention AliA has pretty much cornered the market with youtube videos for survival. I WILL SAY THIS, I will probably be making some youtube videos for black Ops 2 for zombies, and will definitely make the guides. But for here, it would be WAY to much work to make survival videos, especially when I have already gone back to black ops to get ready for BO2.. Either way, thanks for reading, and stay tuned as more guides will come out for MW3, but will be going strong into BO2 as soon as the game comes out.

jordan on June 27, 2012:

you should really make some videos about the strategy you made

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on June 01, 2012:

Yah the cheating is pretty annoying, we have that a bit on 360, and honestly haven't checked lately to see if they fixed it, I just know that it was very screwed up last time i checked.

Wraith on May 31, 2012:

I just remembered how I do this map...

Along the right side of the map, about 2/3 of the way up, there's a container set up like a tunnel to a ledge overlooking the center area of the map. If you set up sentries IN the dumpster at JUST the right spot, I don't think the helicopters can shoot them (not too sure about that though...). When juggernauts come, just start leading them in a loop that avoids the path in front of the 'container tunnel' entrance. To get out to stock up, just jump out over the ledge. To get back in (since you can't pick up sentries from the front, and getting the placement right is TOUGH), you need to do a little jumping on top of barrels and the big containers right beneath the ledge. (It may take time to get the jumps down, but they aren't that difficult (for me, at least))

Also, Hardwire? I honestly wish the anti-cheat software for the PC was better... there are people on the top of the scoreboards for ALL the maps ("BaconAddict" (or something like that) holds 1st place on most of them) with scores of MORE than 1,000,000,000 on waves 1, 0, and even -1 (seriously, WTF???) and times less than 15 seconds. You'd think the people running the anti-cheat stuff would at least CHECK to make sure things were working... If I were to be completely honest... I wish IW had used PunkBuster... (tried and true from CoD4 and W@W)

Hell, I think VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat) would be better than what they're using right now. (Additionally, I think the multiplayer should still be in the beta stages...)

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on February 23, 2012:

Well to be honest, when people tell me that they have better strategies that involve hacks, i disregard them. I am 100% against all hacks, and cheats, and feel that they ruin the game. I am also very glad that they seem to patch glitches fairly well.

Hardwire from United States on February 23, 2012:

Hey John, So you're an author of a guide/s ? Cool, I'm curious what your take is on all the hacks and cheats that are being used in MW3. I've actually lessoned the time I play on this game because of all the hacking going on. Any thoughts ?

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on February 21, 2012:

Haha well.. Technically i am on here, where i do monetize this site.. But who knows. I personally have about 25 guides in the making, but haven't found the initiative to really put in the effort.. That's my biggest problem with writing.

Anonymous 2 on February 21, 2012:

It sure did help. Round 27 solo on my first try. I think you should become a published guide author

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on February 21, 2012:

Thank you, and hope it helps..

Anonymous 2 on February 21, 2012:

In response to Codfather: you'll just be picked off by choppers if you don't pay attention while camping on stuff...

and Johnrr631992 this is a great strategy. Thank you c:

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on February 06, 2012:

Works EXTREMELY well as long as blue guy has at least a slight bit of skill and can shoot people as they walk in a doorway and file down stairs.

Anonymous on February 06, 2012:

I this'll work well and I'm going 2 try it.

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on December 28, 2011:

I assume you mean armored troops, they simply are like weak juggernauts, you can kill them but they are much stronger than your average person.

Joffy thomas on December 28, 2011:

Who are those guys who appear after wave 20 are they juggernaut's bros

John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on December 10, 2011:

I have tried the whole cmaping on top of things on survival but the problem with this is that you typically get picked off, now if you mean the crates at the top o the map that might work, but from my experience being near the grenade box makes life easy in case you need a fast self revive in the middle of a round

Codfather on December 10, 2011:

What about goong on top of the containers cause surely your method will eventually go wrong when you can hold them all of??? :/
