In this guide you will learn the tips and strategy to get you to high levels in survival mode on Hardhat in call of duty modern warfare 3.
The link below is a general strategy guide that i suggest reading that will teach you the technique to be applied to any survival mode map, and will go in depth about all the weapons and things you should use.
First off take a look at the picture i have attached and let me describe everything in it, because i will reference this a lot more throughout the guide.
The blue arrows with lines will show the routes of all of the players, also when juggernauts come in the will tend to follow these routes and land in those about areas.
The red X's are where you + your partner will stand. If by yourself stand closer to the tunnel and watch both ways, but each person should watch each way when playing with 2.
The two Orange X's represent the turrets you will place. I suggest 1 explosive turret and 1 machine gun turret. This will allow the enemies to come into the tunnel and get taken out fast and easy. You should have absolutely no worries from behind you with those turrets there, and only have to watch the other two directions.
So basically i wrote above the beginning strategy. As you will also note there is the kill streak box right where you will be camping. Some find using constant predator missiles is a good strategy but i find just using 2 Light Machine guns does the trick fine.
You should also make sure that you both have a riot shield squad. They will have you + and you partners back, and will make the amount of work you have to do at lower rounds minuscule, and even at higher rounds takes a lot of stress of your life.
When juggernauts come in you will most likely have to move around. It is hard to camp anywhere on this map and defend against 3 juggernauts without moving, so if you are forced to move, just remember that you can re-set everything up at the end of the round. If you are able to take the juggernaut out easy this is the best way, for the one who comes through the tunnel, hit him with a flash bang, and let the turrets take him out. Then the other two, just gang up on them with your riot shield team, and you will take him out effectively and quickly.
This strategy is fairly simple, and basic, but will allow you to survive for long rounds, and have a good edge on the opponents. Also note that you should shoot the helicopters down first, before anything else. They are fast to kill with an LMG and tend to come at the beginnings of rounds. If on the move, still try to take out the helicopter first.
Also, Always keep self revives.. I cannot stress this enough, you will go down occasionally and you do not want to lose accidentally simply because you did not have a self revive.
So there you have it. A basic guide for Hardhat that will allow you to get to high levels. I will also below include guides to my other hubs. Please feel free to comment or ask questions, and i can help you.

Wow, this is a great strategy you set up Johnr, I got to wave 29 on Ps3, while originally my best was like 17, Lol. Although I did use quite a few ajustments that i would like you to maybee test and see if it's a good strategy. Well, the first time i tried i only got to about 22. I noticed that once i got to the commando troops, my sentry guns were taken down easily by a group of 4 or 5 of them. So me and my partner (cavementony) came up with a new strategy. So where the two red Xs were we replaced those with a grenade launcher and sentry turret. As we played around with this strategy, we noticed very few troops would spawn into the pipe/tube thing, only about 4 or 5 a round. So as we put claymores down in the pipe, this became a very successful strategy! We got all the way to wave 36. As for the Juggs, we would both go at them one at a time him at the same time and unload a clip of our LMGs into his face.. LOL. This took him down within about 30 seconds. Combined with acouple flashbangs, we were set! As for supplies we both had riot shield troops, and we both kept 10 c4s and claymores, and a predator at all times. The other thing I realized is you definitely don't need 2 LMGs. Me and Tony both had L8r6 (I think that is what its called.) And a P90 smg. This worked very effectively, especially for the early and middle rounds. Thank you for all your help creating this strategy, and I hope this helped anybody out there looking for a good strtegy!

Sorry Wraith... Xboxer here... LOL
Wraith on September 29, 2012:
Dick, do you play on the PC? I only really play FPS games on the PC.
Dick on September 19, 2012:
Still stuck at level 22... damn dogs still... and choppers. Hard to run around with all the Jugs closing in on us....will try airstike at the entrance of the pipe once we jump off from where we are.... get a few dogs first them throw the strike... then run back out of the pipe and into the room near the air support... put c4s at the entrace and wait for remainig jugs, while a team member shoots down a chopper -- preferably with a predator missile.

Well.. May be a few days.. Gotta wait for the university technology department to install a private router in my room.. As of now no internet.
Dick on September 17, 2012:
Wraith! Did I tell you you are a genius? LOL. You have all these original discoveries... i want to play with you someday... look for stickyDHT. Johnrr6..., tell us how you did if you try this latest tip from wraith.
John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on September 17, 2012:
Definitely going to try this method out later.. I did not know about this..
Dick on September 17, 2012:
Thank you for the tip... My teammate and I were able to find it.... At first we were jumping across from one pipe to the other (which was hit and miss, because it took several tries when speed most mattered LOL) But we found a better way -- jump down from the the top... beautiful. On Jug rounds one needs to definitely run around... we got to round 22 so far, but we hope to excel at this LOL. Cheers, later.

Dick, you know the pipe in the center of the map? You can jump on top of any segment of it (the 2 parts closer to the killstreak box as well as the 2 at the other end). The pipe segment FURTHEST from the killstreak box is where you want to go for non-juggernaut waves. Hide in the back corner, up against the big drum-like construction cones. You can either climb over the wall next to it or jump up onto the pipe (or jersey barriers) from right next to it. The enemies can climb up ONLY from the gap in the re-bar stick up from the wall next to the pipe. Dogs can climb up it, but if they don't fall off when you shoot them, you can just go to the jersey barriers to avoid the blasts. Oddly enough, the only enemy AI (ground forces-wise, not helicopters) that will go for you immediately are the juggernauts and attack dogs. The regular soldiers, suicide bombers, chemical troops, and explosives experts will tend to gather around the jeep, the corner you can jump down from, or in the half-built building to the left. So if you put 5 C4 packets in the right spots on regular waves and wait until you've finished the dogs, you can clear out most of a wave in 1 blast.
Also, the easiest way (IMHO) to kill the dogs on juggernaut waves is to put claymores facing backwards (the way you were coming) while running away.
Dick on June 16, 2012:
Wraith, your speaking in tongues again? LOL What the *ell do you mean... this is a very hard map... I keep dying on wave 5... JUGS and Dogs and Choppers... I'll keep trying.
Wraith on May 01, 2012:
I found a really cheap way that works as long as you manage to run fast enough and avoid claymores/gas mines well enough on juggernaut rounds! I'll give you a hint: part of the pipe in the center (not saying where) causes the enemies to have.... I guess "issues" is the best way to put it... finding their way to a spot where they can shoot you. :D
I'll give you another hint (since the first one wasn't much of a hint TBH): it's a section of the pipe where there are only 2 ways to get to it (and a single SEPARATE way for the enemies to reach it).
I got to wave 19 using this strategy, which actually puts me in the top 1500 scores on the PC! As long as you have ammo, it shouldn't really matter what gun you use... my primary was whatever the most recent main enemy weapon was and my secondary was an FMG-9. If you can pull it off right, you can actually kill a juggernaut with ONE clip from an MP5! (well, for the first 1 or 2 juggernaut waves at least...)
John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on February 06, 2012:
This can be done a lot of ways, but the most effective is at the tunnel, because a lot of enemies come that way, and 1 of each turret completely ruins them.
Anonymous on February 06, 2012:
This could be done in the same area but with multiple ways with the turrets in different places.
John Reid-Roberts (author) from Boston, Massachusetts on February 01, 2012:
The box where the riot shield team, predator missile, and all that is in, is right there where you camp, and is referred to as the kill streak box.
Max on February 01, 2012:
What do you mean when you say there is a kill streak box right where you suggest camping?
