Necron Grand Cruisers

With the release of Patch 3, the Necrons were given 4 new ships to bolster their navy's ranks, one of which was the Scourge vessel of the Grand Cruiser class, being the first and only ship of it's size for that faction. Given that the Imperial Navy and Chaos factions were the only two to have any ships of the Grand Cruiser size at all, this makes the Necrons the third faction to have one, and the only one outside of those main two. Finally, it is the only faction to gain a new ship in a weight class where it previously had none.

Patch Status: Current for Patch 7 [v.11218]

Terms Used

This section briefly covers the advanced weapon data you will find for each ship. These values are calculated based off the base weapons stats and are explained as follows:

DPS - Damage Per Second - The total damage output per weapon type (all guns combined) per second, assuming 100% of shots land, before considering armor penalties.

Crits Pm - Critical Hits Per Minute - Assuming all shots land, this will be the average number of critical hit's the guns will cause every minute before modifiers. (all guns combined)

Salvos PM - Salvos Per Minute - The total number of combined waves of fire, not including multiple rounds fired from the same weapon.

Rounds PM - The actual number of shots or individual projectiles fired each minute from all guns combined.

Necron Grand Cruiser Stats

The Scourge gets a fairly standard stats load out relative to the other Necron ships. The massive number of hitpoints for a ship of its class means the enemy will need to spend a lot of time burning down your hull to stop it from healing the rest of your fleet.

The Scourge is a unique ship compared to the rest of the post-launch ships added to the Chaos and Necron fleets. The standard weapons are nice and all, albeit lacking any front firing arcs, but the ship benefits from being the only true carrier in it's fleet.

The Scourge is the only Necron vessel to have legit launch bays, and a set of 4 at that. Now it can only launch the same hull damaging Doom Scythe fighters that the other Necron line ships can, but can actually launch large groups of them instead of single squads only. On top of that, since it still posses the Doom Scythe Transfer ability the other Necrons use to launch their fighters, you actually have a whole 5th squadron you can launch separately, with it's own set of 3 charges. This makes the scourge the only vessel in the game to be able to launch two separate squadrons at two separate targets at the same time.

Note: Previously this article mentioned Pyramidal Reconstruction as a special ability unique to the Scourge. This was my error from being gone from the game for a while and first messing with the new Necron ships only recently. While the Scourge can be equipped with this ability, it is worth pointing out that this is actually just automatically granted to whichever ship is the Flagship of the fleet, thus is not unique to the Scourge.
