Pros and Cons of Organic Instant Coffee

Are You Making The Switch From Coffee Maker to Instant Organic Coffee?

Have you given up your old coffee pot and made the switch to drinking organic instant coffee? Maybe you have not switched yet but are considering doing so? Or maybe you are just looking for a good instant organic coffee recommendation. On this page, learn a bit more about the reasons to drink organic instant coffee and find a reputable online source for buying your own organic instant coffee.

I was given this page by online friend Darcie and set off to learn more about instant organic coffee. As with many food-related health issues, the answers are not always crystal clear. Please take this information as a guide to help you decide whether or not instant organic coffee is for you. And, if you are already sold on instant organic coffee, be sure to let us know about it.Please note that I am not in any sense a medical professional. As a matter of fact, I do not even drink coffee, but my husband does. I hate cleaning his coffee pot and often wonder about the health implications of his coffee ritual. (I drink tea, which has its own concerns.)img@ravenwalker36

The Cons Of Instant Organic Coffee?

  • When you are ready for a second cup, you will have to make it rather than pour it directly from your coffee pot.

  • Instant organic coffee costs more than regular instant coffee.

Mount Hagen Organic Freeze Dried Instant Coffee

Mount Hagen Organic Freeze Dried Instant Coffee is Darcie's favourite instant organic coffee. After reading the extremely favourable Amazon customer reviews I could understand why.

Amazon customer myoho guy had this to say about Mount Hagan organic instant coffee, "I like freshly-ground, brewed coffee, but sometimes I'm in a hurry and just want a reasonable facsimile that looks, smells, and tastes like it and delivers my morning cup of coffee."

Myoho guy performed a test between Mount Hagen and Nescafe Taster's Choice, his ordinary instant coffee brand. Summarizing, he gave the edge for aroma to Mt. Hagen. With regard to taste, he said the result was close but he gave the win to Mount Hagen for richer flavour and fuller body. Nescafe won the challenge for convenience and affordability. And, when it came down to ecofriendliness, he thought the organically-grown Mount Hagen product would be ahead until he factored in the fact that it travels to North America from Germany. In the end, he gave the win to Mount Hagen, because it had a "slightly richer flavour and it's organically grown."

I recommend you check out the rest of the Amazon customer reviews by clicking here. You might be surprised at what you can learn from reviews by the people who use a product.

Mount Hagen Organic Freeze Dried Instant Coffee is available in both regular and decaffeinated formats.

Excellent lens on coffee. Your research is very well organized and gave life to useful information. I am not into instant coffee as I prefer other "advance" grounds but organic instant sounds as the best choice but the price is definitely a negative factor.

othellos on April 28, 2013:

Excellent lens. I am a coffee lover and I just found some great information that I didn't know. Thanks for sharing:)

@anonymous: Good point, Chris. Thanks for commenting.

anonymous on February 04, 2013:

Thanks ~ I am planning to switch to instant coffee cuz I'm tired of cleaning my coffee maker and naturally I would prefer organic. One of your "Cons" is a "Pro" to me, btw: the fact that you have to make a new one when you're ready for your second cup ...that will help with not drinking too much coffee.

collectors-corner on November 24, 2011:

I do buy organic coffee and fair trade coffee but not the instant type. I prefer freshly brew (I have a neat system to brew only one cup at a time). Yes it cost more, but I think it's worth it.

Susan Deppner from Arkansas USA on November 21, 2011:

Interesting topic. I'm not a coffee drinker and my husband prefers to use his two-cup coffee maker, but having instant organic coffee on hand might be a really good idea since it does get such great reviews.

Joan4 on November 21, 2011:

I do use the convenient Nescafe instant coffee tubes for my afternoon coffee. I did not realize organic instant is available.

Dianne Loomos on November 20, 2011:

My husband is the coffee drinker and I don't know if he'd go for instant. The only way I drink coffee is if it has a lot of "stuff" in it, like at Starbucks. I'm sure organic instant coffee will appeal to a lot of people though.

Treasures By Brenda (author) from Canada on November 20, 2011:

I guess I should have known that there was such a thing as organic instant coffee. I will admit that I never thought of it before.

darciefrench lm on August 25, 2011:

@GabrielaFargasch: You're a brave girl - I bet you'll love it - let me know if you switch to instant coffee :))

darciefrench lm on August 25, 2011:

@anonymous: I'm an easy starter too, so long as I have that cup in my hand :) Thanks for coming by Susie :)

darciefrench lm on August 25, 2011:

@anonymous: I do like tea too, but coffee has always been my preference. Had a baby very young - have always needed the extra kick of coffee :)

darciefrench lm on August 25, 2011:

@ChrisDay LM: Not into decaf myself either - the more caffeine the better :)

darciefrench lm on August 25, 2011:

@Diana Wenzel: I also need a whole pot of coffee in the morning, and then the afternoon .. kettle's on all day in our house it seems :)

GabrielaFargasch on August 25, 2011:

Ok, I gotta admit, you got me curious now!!! I am definitely gonna try it.... (Just for the fun of it..... I don't think I'm ready to retire my coffee maker just yet..... Lol)

anonymous on July 14, 2011:

I've never tried organic instant coffee but would certainly be willing to give it a try. I know what you mean about that second cup being ready. Just give me my coffee in the morning with a little sugar and I'm ready to go!

anonymous on July 06, 2011:

I prefer Tea over Coffee. I drink lots of tea and a similar number of Coffee cups give me a headache. I do drink Coffee some times - Nescafe. Organic Coffee is not that popular in India.

ChrisDay LM on June 15, 2011:

Sadly, I can't cope with instant coffee in any form and decaffeinated is even worse! Don't you love personal variations and individuality?

Renaissance Woman from Colorado on March 24, 2011:

I did not know about the organic option you presented. I'm always open to trying new products. However, I need a whole pot of coffee in the morning.

Jackie Block from SE Michigan on February 03, 2011:

I've never tried the organic crystals. I'll look for them on my next shopping trip. Lens rolled to my Instant Coffee lens.

Howard from Michigan on February 02, 2011:

I'm a big coffee drinker and in moderation I feel it is ok. There are worse things to drink like energy drinks, etc. I can't give up my coffee and need 2 cups in the morning before I can even leave the house and function. Side note, I've never had instant, organic freeze dried coffee and am not for sure I've even seen it at my small local store. I'll look for it next time I'm in the store.

beerhead on February 01, 2011:

I know it's not healthy but can't get away from it.
