Get Your Apron On For Some Home Cooking
With a selection of my favorite recipes
Many years ago as I began the adventure of setting up my own home, I was given a recipe book. It was only small, but had many blank pages with different sections. Over the next 32 years I filled these pages with favorite recipes that I had tried and tested, after cutting them out of magazines, off boxes and packets of ingredients or writing them down from family and friends. As you can guess, I loved home cooking and trying new recipes! After a time it became so full that favorite recipes were spilling out into the bag in which it was housed. Many times they were re-stuck and some became too faded to read anymore. Fortunately I knew them mostly off-by-heart by this time. My resolution is to trust myself and cook without them, but somehow this feels like desertion, as if I am being unfaithful to my favorite book. This little book went with me each time we packed up our house and moved, even one time to a different country. Each time it would be lovingly placed at pride of place on a shelf in a handy place to be pulled out and thumbed through time and again for yet another idea for a well-loved dish, whether it was a homemade family meal, a cake or an old family recipe. This book is now falling to pieces and some of them have been shared on my hubs. This hub is my new recipe box- the well-deserved new home for my favorite recipes.
