Mrs Fields has the best recipes for COOKIES! I got this cookbook as a gift over 20 years ago. It was one of those gifts that was a hint, hint to learn to bake cookies for the hubby to keep him sweetened up. I remember when I unwrapped it; everyone was all around me telling which ones to make first. It was kinda funny. If I remember right I was supposed to make ones with chocolate chips, nuts, raisins. Of course I chimed in with chocolate mint to say something different. To be honest I made one with raisins first.
About The Cookie Book
This cookbook has five sections for easy searching for the kind of cookie you want to bake. The sections are drop, filled, fancy, bar and special treats. There are 130 recipes total in this book. Lots to choose from. The recipes are super easy to follow with a picture of the cookies you are making next to it. It even has some extra how-to photo's with some of the recipes. I really like the ease and simple recipes that this cookie book has to offer. I'm sure glad Mrs Fields shared her prize winning recipes in this book.
More Than Just Cookies
As I sit here and re-look at the special treats sections which is the last section of the book; I see a recipe for Creamy Mocha Ice Cream Shake. Now doesn't that sound good for dunking a cookie in. I know that cookies are best dunked in milk but its fun to try something different. It's nice that there are other shared dessert recipes other than cookies in this cookbook.
Even after so many years of owning this cookbook, I still love to look through it to find a cookie recipe I haven't tried yet. As the saying goes oldies are always goodies!
Best Cookie Book Ever by Mrs Fields
Oatmeal Raisin Chews
These cookies were some of the first ones I made from from Mrs Fields Best Cookie Book Ever! The cookbook was a gift over 20 years ago. It contains several really great cookie recipes to drool over.
- 2 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup instant oats
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups raisins
- 1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
- Preheat oven to 300
- In medium bowl combine flour, soda, salt and oat.
- Mix well with wire whisk and set aside.
- In a large bowl blend sugars with an electric mixer on medium speed.
- Add butter and mix to form a grainy paste.
- Add honey, vanilla and eggs.
- Mix at medium speed until light and fluffy.
- Add flour mixture, raisin and walnuts; blend at a low speed until combined. Do no over mix.
- Drop by rounded tablespoons onto greased cookie sheet about 1 1/2 apart.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes or until light golden brown.
- Transfer cookies with a spatula to a cool flat cookie sheet.

Of all the dessert cookbooks out there, 'cookies' has to be my favorite. This one looks like a really good one! A cookie recipe for every taste! My favorite is 'chocolate' with nuts. :) Thanks for sharing this cookbook on the 'Books on Squidoo' Pinterest board.
