How to Make Lazy Lasagna?

Misbah loves to cook — she is a good cook — she cooks for her family on weekends and the family loves the taste of her cooked foods.

What is Lasagna?

Lasagna is a classic first course of Italian cuisine, now famous all over the world they can never be missed on the tables of Sundays spent with the family. Preparing lasagna is not difficult, but like all recipes, it needs a little attention, just enough not to make any mistakes that could ruin this very tasty first course, loved by everyone.

Mistakes not to make when making Lasagna

Choose the pasta carefully

Fresh pasta or dry pasta? To obtain a soft and compact lasagna, it is preferable to use fresh egg pasta sheets. If you do not have time to prepare them at home, you can remedy them with those you find in the supermarket refrigerated counter. In that case, the advice is to blanch each sheet for a minute in salted water: help yourself with a skimmer and, once the stamp is finished, immerse each sheet in cold water so as to stop the cooking process. Your sheets will be softer and will keep cooking in the oven better.

How many layers do I do?

In the kitchen, we know that the eye also wants its part and a tall and compact lasagna satisfies the sight and taste, but how high must the perfect lasagna be? How many layers do you need? There is no precise rule, but a self-respecting lasagna must have at least four layers — even better if 5.

Distribute the dressing evenly

For a self-respecting lasagna, be careful to distribute the filling evenly. Arrange the sauce evenly, both in the center and in the corners. In this way, the cooking will be uniform and your guests will not fight to grab the most seasoned piece of lasagna!

Let the lasagna rest before cooking it

In the kitchen, patience is an excellent ally. When you have finished composing your lasagna, let it rest for about 40 minutes before baking it. In this way, the pasta will absorb the flavors of the filling and the cooking will be more homogeneous and the taste richer.

Parchment paper yes, parchment paper no

Parchment paper is an excellent tool for oven preparations, but every rule has its exception. For lasagna, it is preferable not to use it. You risk it sticking to the first layer of pasta, thus ruining your dish. It will certainly be a little more tiring to clean the pan, but a layer of seasoning well-distributed on the bottom of the pan is preferable as a "base".

Butter the pan

Before starting to compose the layers of lasagna, butter the bottom of the pan and make the first layer of sauce: in this way you do not run the risk of the bottom sticking to the first layer of pasta.

Aluminum sheet

Who doesn't love the crispy crust that forms on top of lasagna? The trick is there and it's simpler than you think: cover the lasagna with aluminum foil for the first 20 minutes of cooking. In this way, the heat of the oven will cook your lasagna evenly. After this time, remove the aluminum foil and let it cook for another 10/15 minutes: the top will begin to brown and your crust will make the lasagna beautiful to look at and good to eat.

The aluminum paper is moldable and can withstand temperatures ranging from-30 ° to 220 ° C. It is, in fact, highly recommended for cooking in foil. You can then use it safely. The important thing is that it does not come into contact with the flame or with the electric resistances and it must not be used for storing acidic foods.

Wait before cutting

When the lasagna is ready, it is difficult to resist the temptation to taste them immediately, but be careful, because even in this case, you have to be a little patient. Wait for your lasagna to rest for about 20 minutes. Once it is cooked in this way, it will compact and will not fall apart when cut.

The process of baking

Give rest after layering for half an hour, at least so the pasta can absorb the flavors.

In the meantime, clean the kitchen and preheat the oven.

Bake in the oven at 200 ° C for 30- 40 minutes.

Useful tip:

Cover the lasagna with aluminum foil for the first 20 minutes of cooking; in this way, the heat of the oven will cook your lasagna evenly. After this time, remove the aluminum foil and let it cook for another 10/15 minutes: the top will begin to brown and your crust will make the lasagna beautiful and crisp.

Bredz, I actually love carrots in pastas. I love to eat pastas on Sunday as they don’t take much time and Sunday is my cheat day as well. I remember you once said to me that you like eating spicy food. I am a lover of spicy food and I eat spicy foods so, in pastas I love to add red and green chilies as well-along with Nando’s extra spicy sauce. You can call it a Punjabi lazy Lasagna then. Lol! Though, I didn’t mention it in the recipe. But it is for spice lovers like me so just telling you. ;) Do you have Nando’s or any peri peri chicken restaurant in US? If yes, buy that sauce from there according to your taste. You can get it from Amazon as well. I am sure you will love it. ;) Much Love!

Blessings and Hugs to you!

Misbah

This is certainly a different way to mske lasagna. I've never had one with carrots in it.

Nor have I had lasagna for Sunday dinner.

We are kinda a meat and potatoes dish for Sunday, if we do cook.

But lots of times it's a snack like table as we watch the football games.

Great recipe though.

Hugs,

Bredz

Misbah,

I love lasagna but it is one if those dishes that take awhile to cook.

Although your recipe is quite different.

You use fresh pasta or refrigerated pasta, where we use pasta from a box.

We also use ricotta cheese or cottage cheese mixed with ricotta.

No flour..or milk.

I can never get passed 3 layers...maybe I need a deeper pan.

Great write. I'm getting hungry.

Lasagna is not new to me. I tasted it at a friend's place while I was in Germany in 2005. I loved it then. But I wouldn't like to taste it now as it is too rich in calories. I loved your step by step instructions so that maybe I can pass it to someone who might be interested.

Yummy! I love lasagna. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

Liz Westwood from UK on February 25, 2021:

I am sometimes put off by the time it takes to prepare the mince mixture and the sauce. A shortcut is to use some mince that I have prepared earlier from the freezer and even some bechamel sauce too. If I have time, I like to serve with salad and garlic bread that I have semi-made.
