Bakers are often considered professionals in certain households; they're responsible for making delicious foods for everyone to enjoy. People have different interpretations of what 'baking' means. When they're in the process of learning how to bake, they'll use the term 'baking.' However, when they're actually making their goods, they'll use the term 'cooking.' This is due to how similar baking and cooking are- they're both processes that produce delicious foods.

Baking is an easy process that involves using dry or wet ingredients to produce various baked goods. There are several types of ingredients used in baking; these include flour, sugar, butter and eggs. Bakers will also use different liquids such as milk, water or non-dairy substitutes for milk. Baking can be done indoors or outdoors depending on the recipe and location of the home/business. Some commonly baked goods include breads (such as wheat bread), cookies, cakes and pastries- essentially anything that can be cooked in a pan or on a baking sheet.

Baking is done with the intention of creating a tasty food with various health benefits. For example, many baked goods have high protein content due to the use of eggs in most recipes. There are also plenty of healthy fats in most recipes that are baked with butter and oils. Baked goods are also quick and easy to make which makes them great for busy people's schedules. Are Baked Goods Healthy?

Most baked goods including those made with nuts and seeds contain refined flour and sugar and are low in fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals. The cooked food found in bars and restaurants is often far inferior to home-made food because it's made with lower quality ingredients and has more additives. But I know, sometimes when you are outside you just crave a sweet treat. When you are craving sweet you still can limit your calories and sugar intake by choosing a delicious and less heavy pastry or sweet treat.

What to Remember

In the end of the day. It's all about how many calories you consume and how many of them you burn. If you consume more then you burn, you gain weight over time, if you burn more calories then you consume, you will lose weight over time.

If you are like me and you can't stay without a nice mouthwatering pastry everyday, keep in mind to burn those extra calories you consume. A simple way to control your calorie intake is to replace a 'unhealthy' food you were planning to eat with your sweet treat, this way you limit your calorie intake while enjoying the pastry.
