The Greatest Gin Cocktail Recipes: Indulge This Christmas...
I won't keep you from reading the best part below, however I just wanted to say that gin is one of the best alcoholic bases for cocktails and there are so many to choose from, so best get started. Go grab your cocktail shaker and start mixing!
Dinner Party Tipples
THE WHITE LADY COCKTAIL
Serve this cocktail in a flute or martini glass.
Ingredients:
- 100 ml gin
- 100 ml cointreau
- fresh lemon juice
- ice
Method:
Put all the ingredients in your shaker. Shake well and strain into your glass.
Bartender's Tip:
Be posh and add a curl of lemon peel. Run your potato peeler over a lemon, peeling away a strip of skin without the pith. Tie the peel in a little loose knot. Presto, you have a curl.
A Little Gin History:
Gin was and still is, quoted as mothers ruin. The horrible fact: gin was associated with self and back street abortions. Hence the ruin of the mother, as of course so many died. The thought behind it, believe it or not, was that juniper (the berry) was supposed to bring on a miscarriage. To day thank all our gods for choices and education.
THE BLUE LADY COCKTAIL
Serve this drink in a champagne style (flute) glass or a martini glass.
Ingredients:
- 50 ml gin (use your favorite brand)
- 100 ml blue curaçao
- juice of one lemon
- a teaspoon of egg white
Method:
Shake all the ingredients together and strain into your glass. This cocktail has the wow factor.

A Little Gin History:
Unbelievably, between 1750 and 1850 gin was seen as a very crude drink. Gin was a cheap spirit and readily available. Drunk to degrees by the poor. To the extent, that those with a particular lifestyle who overindulged in what was then known, as a rather vulgar drink were said to be living in gin lane. Seedy shops advertised...
- Drunk for one penny
- Dead drunk for two
- Clean straw for nothing
Thank goodness for the 20th century. It was at this time that gin became the very trendy drink that it is today. With many different brands and popular cocktails to choose from. Lucky for us, we don't need to go anywhere near gin lane, clean straw or otherwise to indulge in a drink of gin.
Invest in a Cocktail Shaker: you can't shake cocktails without a cocktail shaker and the Mixology Bartender Kit is an excellent choice and comes with a few hand

There is nothing better than a cocktail or two with friends. I always seem to get to the third and forth cocktail with very little difficulty which is why I keep adding gin cocktails to this hub.
