Yummy Custard Buns You Should Make

the dough:

  • 300g bread flour, sifted
  • 4g instant dry yeast
  • 30g sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 130ml milk
  • 1 egg
  • 40g unsalted butter
  • vanilla extract, optional

the custard cream:

  • 3 egg yolks
  • 50g sugar
  • 20g corn starch
  • 250g milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teapoons vanilla


  1. First, you need to make the custard cream by mixing the yolks and sugar until you have a smooth cream, and add corn starch. Then, heat up the milk and add it to the mixture bit by bit on low heat. Stir until it thickens and add butter and vanilla. Leave your custard aside to cool.
  2. Prepare your dough by mixing all the ingredients above, and knead it for 5min. Leave it to rise for 1 hour.
  3. After that time, bring the dough in and extract it from air. Then, make small round pieces and leave them to rest for 10 min.
  4. Start spreading your small buns and filling them with custard until you done. When you finish let them rest again for 5 min.
  5. Then,heat up a pan and cook them on low heat until they brownish from both sides.
  6. Serve your delicious custard buns and enjoy the vanilla in them.
