There are plenty of smoked salmon recipes that you can try. The smokey flavor and its flaky pink meat can be made into toppings for cold salad or it can be a replacement for bacon bits for carbonara.

Used maple syrup instead of honey! Top notch recipe thanks for sharing :)

GSB on August 04, 2010:

Made this tonight. It was really wonderful. I made no substitutions, except that I didn't use honey.

Because I'm confident in my grilling, I elected to lay the salmon directly on the grill, skin side down at first, then flipped for the second half of the cooking phase. A good spray on the grill kept it from sticking and it came out perfect with good grill marks.

The marinade makes this extremely flavorful. Served with rice and steamed cauliflower and broccoli, the latter finished as a pan-seared sauté in garlic and olive oil. I'll happily make this again.

I'm so glad that everyone is enjoying my grilled salmon recipe. I'm not a huge salmon fan, but this recipe made a believer out of me.

Jam Jam, yes, you grill the salmon in the foil. The reason I oil the grates is simply for protection in case the foil rips. It makes it easier to clean. But I guess it's not really necessary to oil the grate. A green salad, cucumbers and tomatoes salad, rice pilaf, grilled veggies, risotto, and creamed spinach are all delicious paired with salmon. And asparagus is a classic combo!

Jam Jam on April 22, 2010:

do you grill the salmon while it's still in the foil? I'm confused as to the purpose of spraying both the aluminum foil as well as the grill grates. And any good side ideas? I love asparagus with salmon but I usually just grill some with a soy sauce marinade. Any other ideas?

This is the first time I ever grilled and made salmon as a matter of fact and I have to say it was goooooooooooooooooooooood beyond my capacities! Though i did adjust a few ingredients but used most of them :) absolutely Loveddddd it! ps I added chilli powder to make it hot and it worked like a charm :)

You know something? I've been trying to find a really good recipe to make salmon, unsuccessfully of course. Until now! My husband was like "Mmmmmm.... that's gooood." But what was really rewarding, was the face that he made. He didn't expect that it would be that tatsty, as the other poor salmon attempts were in the past. I'm glad that's passed. ;-)

Ann Martin on May 29, 2008:

Hi! I just published a hub on salmon recipes. And I am glad when I saw a list of related hubs about salmon. I like to eat any fish--grilled and broiled, especially salmon because I'm an eternal diet-watcher. Lean meat and high-protein stuff is important... By the way, come and visit my salmon :-)

Grill'n Guy, you made my day. Thanks so much for the compliment. I actually am not a salmon fan, as it is too strong for me. But my husband loves it. That is how this grilled salmon recipe came about- so I wouldn't have to cook separate entrees. ;)

grill'n guy from San Diego on February 25, 2008:

My wife is not much of a fish fan and since I love it, I am always looking for recipes she might like that I can do on my Weber Genesis grill. Wow, did she love this one. Great flavors, spice and we get our Omega-3's as well. Thanks for sharing a super recipe. I think I'll link it on one of my Hubs.
