The passion of cooking

Cooking is an art and like any art, it takes heart, cooking and passion. For me, cooking is one of those passions that say a lot about who I am and the artist of culinary delights I have become.

Now, for me, a fancy looking dish is the least important part of a meal. Sure, you want your food to look appetizing but what really counts is a culmination of how full you get, how delicious the meal was and most importantly, were you able to share? (I have a hard time with sharing after being tortured with all the aroma circling me like buzzard. LOL).

With that thought in mind, I have decided to start sharing all of my tricks, tips and recipes in Youtube videos to help you make meals that are sure to put a smile in every belly you feed.

Make any recipe your own

Cooking should never be a duplication. Start with the recipe but make it your own by adding a different ingredient that says something about you. Think of cooking as a style of clothing. What you wear reflects who you are and cooking should not be any different. When you cook, create a flavor that says something about you.

Never be afraid to try something new. All of my recipes are tried and true after many, many, "not quite right", moments. So, play around and found out what works best for you and your family and don't be afraid to try a new seasoning or ingredient that works.

Sticking to a recipe is a great way to duplicate the taste but mixing up a recipe is a great way to get creative and art is all about creating. In my videos, I will do my best to start by sticking to the basics of cooking but I make no promises. Think of a recipe as a guideline but nothing that is set in stone.

Cooking for fun!

Cooking should always be fun. explore all the possibilities of creating new dishes and never be afraid of trying something. Although the picture is a bit blurry, I made this homemade oriental chicken and pepper entre with a stuffed portabella mushroom on the side.

It was my first attempt at trying a new recipe and my family was really glad I did. Ironically, while making this dish, I learned a new trick to frying that I later used for when I fried up some tilapia and shrimp. I enjoyed the light texture of the crust so muc, I really can't see myself frying any other way. The crust was so light and flavorful that just thinking about it is motivating me towards the kitchen. (Although, I'm under strict orders to take a day off from the kitchen...the temptation to ignore her is weighing heavily on my stomach. LOL).

Either way, learning to cook is a challenge that is fun, great for impressing the person you are dating and ultimately, the best way to control what goes in your food.

Eating healthy is very important and by learning to cook, you can stay on top of the ingredients you use to make the best healthy dishes while avoiding processed foods that can contain very unhealthy recipes. Eating fresh and cooking with wholesome ingredients will always be the best way for you to go.

As for the ingredients; I only use what is available in most grocery stores so you won't run across an ingredient that is not available for you locally. I like to keep my cooking simple yet, flavorful.
