Cupcake Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Place paper liners in wells of muffin pan. Whisk flour and baking powder in small mixing bowl. Combine milk and vanilla in (1-cup) measuring cup. In a 2-qt mixing bowl, beat egg whites on high speed of electric mixer until stiff peaks form. In Stainless (4-qt.) Mixing Bowl beat butter and granulated sugar on medium-high speed until fluffy; beat in sour cream until smooth. On medium speed, add flour mixture in three additions, alternating with milk mixture in two additions, mixing until smooth. Whisk in one-third of the egg whites with whisk. Fold in remaining egg whites using whisk. Divide batter evenly among liners.
  2. Bake 17-20 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Remove pan from oven to cooling rack. Immediately snip a 1/2-inch-deep “x” into top of each cupcake using scissors. Press one truffle into each cupcake until flush with top of cupcake. Remove cupcakes from pan. Cool 30 minutes or to room temperature. (Truffles will melt into cupcakes.)
  3. Meanwhile, for frosting, place white chocolate in small microwave safe bowl. Microwave, uncovered, on HIGH 1-1 1/2 minutes or until chocolate is mostly melted, stirring every 30 seconds. Let stand 3 minutes or until slightly cooled. In clean mixng bowl, combine melted chocolate, cream cheese, butter and vanilla; using clean beaters, beat on medium speed until well blended. Slowly add powdered sugar; beat well.
  4. Frost cupcakes and garnish with white chocolate shavings.

I made these for a work dessert contest. I decorated differently (I did use the frosting). Although they did not win best taste, those who did have them said they were great! I let mine cool before serving so the truffle was able to re-hardened & not goey inside when eating them.

Vickie on February 15, 2017:

I made these and the Lindor truffles became hard as a rock. I even put them in as suggested. But once melted and cooled the hard outer shell mixed with the gooie inside and was hard. So I used a mallow cream/white chocolate/heavy whip cream/with vanilla and unsalted butter.

I loved your frosting though and we are using that! So much better than any other frosting I have ever tasted.

Julie-I have never tried to freeze these cupcakes. Cheryl- Yes, vanilla extract. Brandy- Yes, you can wait until they cool, the inside of these truffles are already pretty soft and melty.

Cheryl on November 20, 2016:

What do you mean double vanilla is that vanilla extract?

Edwin B Lowry from PA on October 19, 2016:

Lindor is really good, and I would really like to bite into that cupcake in the picture above!

Julie on June 04, 2016:

Can we freeze these cupcakes in order to make them in advance for an event?

Brandy on October 01, 2015:

Can I place the truffle inside after the cupcakes cool if I don't want the truffle to melt? Have you tried that?

Dannell (author) on December 09, 2013:

Yes, they could be served warm if you want the truffle very melted. The inside of these truffles are already very soft and smooth, so they could be served cool and still be very soft.

Jessica on December 08, 2013:

Would I have to serve them quickly so the lindor truffles are still melted

Dannell (author) on November 20, 2013:

Yes, Yes it does! Oh wow! That was a typo and I will fix that! lol 12 cups of sugar...

Lexie on November 19, 2013:

Does this really say 12 cups sugar???

Beth37 on March 19, 2013:

Haha, I just left a comment on Vespawoolf's hub and here she is again.

Dannell, I wrote to tell you this is my favorite candy. I fear if I tasted this cupcake I would be in serious trouble. It looks *too good. (I bet they'd taste good with lemon frosting too.)

Dannell (author) on February 01, 2013:

Thank you

Vespa Woolf from Peru, South America on February 01, 2013:

This sounds delicious and your photo is beautiful. I also love Lindor truffles so I'm sure they'd be great inside a cupcake. Thanks!
