The kiondo. What is it?
Kiondo is an African bag made from sisal and is originally from Kenya. The name "kiondo" is a Kenyan word from the Kikuyu tribe. It is a bag that was often used by the older generation in the olden days to go to the market. The kiondo is still available today though the younger generation don't use it because they find it outdated but there are currently modern designs of the kiondo which are suitable for the modern woman. It is generally used by the much older generation and it's common in most rural places.Though the younger generation hardly use it, it is however appreciated by tourists and some tourists do buy it when they come to visit Kenya because it has that rich African culture and it is unique. They are also exported to western countries where they are increasingly becoming quite popular.
