Tropical Guava & Coconut Mojito Recipe


My mother and I love inventing new cocktails. Living in Hawaii, we love the tropical flavors of guava juice and coconut. This drink is one of our late-night inventions that tastes tropical and can be served on the rocks or blended.

When making this drink, don't be afraid to get creative! Tropical fruits seem to all taste good together. Add banana, citrus, strawberries, mango, pineapple, or any fruit you would like to experience. Remember that the best fruit punches have more fruit than you would ever think to put together!

I have given instructions for how to create this drink on the rocks or blended below. If you like your drink sweet, consider adding sugar to the rim of your glass to take it to the next level.

Mojitos are known for their use of mint leaves. This cocktail can be made with or without them.

This recipe is great for parties and it is so easy to make! I love to cut a slice of lime (as in the top photo) or pineapple to make it look especially tropical and enticing. You can also top this drink with the edible flower, orchid, which looks beautiful when floating in your glass.



  • 2 Part Guava Juice
  • 2 Parts Malibu Rum, Coconut Flavored
  • 1 Part Club Soda
  • A Squirt of Lime Juice, (Optional)
  • 1 Banana, (If Blending)
  • Mint Leaves, (If Desired)

Instructions (On the Rocks)

  1. Fill a cup 1/5 full of club soda.
  2. Add Malibu Coconut Flavored Rum until the glass is about 3/5 full.
  3. Add guava juice until the drink is almost full.
  4. Stir until mixed.
  5. Add a squirt of lime juice or mint leaves if desired.
  6. Serve with sugar instead of salt on the rim of the glass.

Instructions (Blended, Makes 5 Drinks)

  1. Put one 24 fluid onces of guava juice into a blender.
  2. Add 4 cups of ice.
  3. Add 24 fluid onces of Malibu Coconut Flavored Rum.
  4. Add 1 banana and a squirt of lime juice if desired.
  5. Blend until smooth.
  6. Serve with sugar instead of salt on the rim of the glass.

The blended version of this drink is more of an alcoholic smoothie than a cocktail, but depending on your mood and environment, you may want to try this tasty, yet, filling beverage.

This recipe calls for Malibu Coconut Flavored Rum, which makes the coconut taste natural and helps to mask the rum flavor. If you try to use coconut milk or coconut water to make this drink, you may lose some of the rich, fruity flavors, therefore watering down the drink.

  • Mango, Coconut Rum, Club Soda, Mint Leaves

Strawberry Banana Mojito

  • Strawberries, Banana, Coconut Rum, Club Soda, Mint Leaves

Papaya Mango Mojito

  • Papaya, Mango, Coconut Rum, Club Soda, Mint Leaves

Guava Banana Mojito

  • Guava, Banana, Coconut Rum, Club Soda, Mint Leaves
