Easy Fruit Sorbet Perfect summer treat and the best way to take advantage of the summer fruit bounty plus it’s an easy, healthy dessert/snack idea for kids.

There is a very simple idea behind this easy fruit sorbet. An embarrassingly simple idea. A sorbet is a blended fruit that’s sweetened and then frozen. Though I call these recipes here, they are more like an idea, a how-to sort of guide for perfect, easy fruit sorbets.

1. Jaggery Sorbet

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup water or as required
  • 3-4 tablespoons basil seeds
  • 250 grams jiggery crushed
  • 1 liter water
  • 4 tablespoons basil seeds soaked
  • 3-4 tablespoons lemon juice
  • ice cubes

Preparation:

  1. In water, add basil seeds, mix & soak for 10-15 minutes and set aside.
  2. In a jug, add jaggery and water, mix well and let it sit until jaggery dissolved, add soaked basil seeds, lemon juice, and mix well.
  3. In serving glass, add ice cubes and jaggery sorbet & serve.

2. Milk Soda

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup water or as required
  • 1-2 tablespoons basil seeds
  • 4 tablespoons sugar or to taste
  • ½ liter milk
  • Ice cubes
  • Soft drink/club soda

Preparation:

  1. In water, add basil seeds, mix & soak for 10-15 minutes and set aside.
  2. In a jug, add sugar, milk and mix well until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Now add soaked basil seeds, mix well and refrigerate until chilled.
  4. In serving glass, add ice cubes, soft drink/club soda, prepared milk & serve chilled.

3. Fresh Watermelon Drink

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups watermelon
  • ½ cup lemon juice
  • 2 cups water
  • ½ cup sugar

Preparation:

  1. Deseed watermelon.
  2. In a blender add watermelon, lemon juice, sugar and blend well.
  3. Delicious watermelon juice is ready to serve.

4. Cold Coffee

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons Instant coffee
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or to taste
  • 2 Cups milk chilled
  • 2 tablespoons cream (optional)
  • Ice cubes
  • 2 scoops of ice cream

Preparation:

  1. In a bowl, add instant coffee, water and mix well.
  2. In a blender, add sugar, dissolves coffee, milk, cream, ice cubes and blend until smooth.
  3. Add ice cream and blitz 1-2 times.
  4. In serving glass, add ice cubes, pour prepared cold coffee, add ice cream scoop, and drizzle chocolate syrup & serve.

5. Healthy Grewia asiatica Juice

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups Grewia asiatica
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • Ice cubes
  • Black salt to taste

Preparation:

  1. Wash Grewia asiatica properly.
  2. In a blender add Grewia asiatica, sugar, and ice cubes and blend well
  3. Take a bowl and strain the mixture and add black salt and mix well.
  4. Delicious Grewia asiatica juice is ready to serve

6. Dried plums & Tamarind pulp sorbet

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of dried plums (soaked overnight & deseeded)
  • 250 grams tamarind pulp
  • 1 kg Sugar
  • 1 liter Water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon prepared syrup or to taste
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 cup Water (chilled)

Preparation:

  1. In a grinder, add dried plums, tamarind pulp, and grind well then strain with strainer & set aside.
  2. In a wok, add sugar and water, mix well and cook until sugar is dissolved, and continue to cook until syrup is thickened.
  3. Now add prepared pulp, mix well and cook on medium-low flame for 5 minutes.
  4. Add salt, mix and bring it to boil, and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Let it cool down.
  6. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a month (yields 1.25 liters).
  7. In serving glass, add dried plums & tamarind pulp sorbet, ice cubes, and water.
  8. Stir & serve.

7. Melon Juice

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Melon
  • ¼ cup Water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar or to taste
  • Ice cubes

Preparation:

  1. In a blender, add white melon, water, sugar, and blend until well combined.
  2. Add ice cubes and blend again & serve.

8. Plums Juice

  • 1 cup (plums) deseeded
  • 3 tablespoons sugar or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black salt
  • 1 cup water
  • Ice cubes

Preparation:

  1. In a blender, add plums, sugar, black salt, water and blend until well combined.
  2. In the glass, add ice cubes, pour juice, and serve.

9. Mint Margarita Juice

Ingredients:

  • Ice cubes
  • 18-20 mint leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon black salt
  • 500 ml Soda water (chilled)lemonade
  • 2-3 tablespoons prepared lemon squash or to taste
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds roasted & crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder

Preparation:

  1. In a blender, add ice cubes, mint leaves, black salt, prepared lemon squash, soda water and blend well then strain & serve

10. Lemonade Juice

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 lemon slices
  • 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1 ½ cups lemon juice

Preparation:

  1. In a wok, add sugar and water, mix well and cook until sugar is dissolved (approx.5-6 minutes). Add lemon slices, mix and cook on low flame for 12-15 minutes.
  2. Add salt and mix well.
  3. Add lemon juice, mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Let it cool down.

Tip

  1. You can be stored for 6 months in a refrigerator.

Hi Urwa, when I was in Pakistan, I used to drink these drinks as my routine. Here, I just take lemonade or sometimes Mojito without alcohol. I miss Pakistan
