Gifts in a Jar - Tea Mixes

Every year for the past 20 years or so I have made gift to give for the holidays. Gifts in a jar are my favorite. People love them.

The Beauty of Giving Gifts in a Jar

I love to give the special people in my life the gift of a gift in a jar. The beauty of giving them as gifts is that you can make them special for each and every person. Each jar can be made to reflect the receivers likes and interests. For example, if you know someone that is into their pets, you can make a Gift in a Jar full of treats for them to make for their animal. Or, someone who likes wholesome, healthy muffins will love receiving their own jar containing muffin mix. There are so many different ways that you can personalize this gift. The best part is people love to receive them.

Of course, putting together the contents of the jar is just one part. One the jar is filled with a mix, you need to decorate. Use your imagination. You can apply lace, ribbon, fabric, flowers, little ornaments, and so many more things. The sky is the limit. For tea and coffee mixes I frequently attach a silver tablespoon to the jar. I also like to cross stitch a tea or coffee cup design to cover the lid of the jar.

But wait, you're not done yet. You still need to give directions to finish making the gift. You only put dry ingredients inside the jar. Now you need to write up a little decorative tag to let your friend know what they need to do. The ingredients and steps they need to follow should always be simple and to the point. Once you are finished with this all that is left is to wrap your gift.

I have included recipes sure to please any tea lover. These teas can all be enjoyed either hot or cold.

Now that you know what to do it's time to get busy and plan what type of gift in a jar you will be making. Get together those supplies and start creating.

Tea Time

Tea Time

The very act of preparing and serving tea encourages conversation. The little spaces in time created by teatime rituals call out to be filled with conversation. Even the tea itself - warm and comforting-inspires a feeling of relaxation and trust that fosters shared confidences.

— Emilie Barnes

Strange how a teapot can represent at the same time the comforts of solitude and the pleasures of company.

Tea is drunk to forget the din of the world.
