Sweet Potato Tuna Cakes with Moringa, Turmeric and Bell Pepper

Are you having a last minute gathering in your place? Then, fret not. This recipe is easy to prepare. You can even make big batches if you bake them.
This recipe uses sweet potato which makes your cakes or croquettes filling and more nutritious. Adding bell pepper and turmeric amp up the flavor of your cakes. Moreover both turmeric and bell pepper improve the aesthetics of your cakes which makes them good for parties.


  • 185 grams tuna, minced
  • 1 medium sweet potato, mashed
  • 1 small bell pepper, minced
  • 3 teaspoons moringa flakes
  • 4 teaspoons chia seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 medium egg, lightly beaten
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, for frying


  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Form small cakes.
  3. If frying: Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil on a hot pan and fry the cakes.
  4. Place cakes on a paper towel to soak up excess oil.
  5. If baking: Line a pan with baking paper, arrange the cakes and bake in a pre heated 350F oven for 20 minutes or until done.
