Super Bowl is literally around the corner and if you're like me, you've waited last minute to figure out what to make for that party. However, do not fear I have a good handful of recipe ideas that are simple and easy!
My first recipe can be used in several ways. You all know how to make rice krispy treats right?
If not here is the recipe:
- 6 cups Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® cereal
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 package (10 oz., about 40) JET-PUFFED Marshmallows
- 4 cups JET-PUFFED Miniature Marshmallows
In a large saucepan melt butter on low heat. Add marshmallows, stir until melted. Quickly add rice krispies and stir until well blended. Next comes the fun part!
So for parties in the past I have done a few different things. One year I brought rice krispy balls that were colored in both competing teams colors. In example this year(2017) the Patriots and the Falcons are playing one another. So for the Patriots use red and dark blue food coloring and for the Falcons use black and red food coloring. To get the colors you want split the mellow mix into separate bowls and add the food coloring. Do this before adding the Rice Krispies cereal.
Another way I have used rice krispy treats is by creating little footballs and jerseys. For this you will need brown food coloring and colors for the jerseys.
Now going along with the football theme... one year at a party this lady brought brownies that were in the shape of footballs. She had drawn the lines on the with frosting. They were super simple, yet super delicious! And also super cute!!
Another fun, yet simple idea is by creating a football out of cupcakes. (see picture provided.) You can also create a goal post as well. Or maybe even a jersey of the team that you are supporting!
So we have a few simple desserts that you can make in short notice but what about side dishes??? Here is a list of a few recipe ideas for you to try!
Cheesy bacon tots: All you need is a bag of tots from the frozen isle of a grocery store, multiple kinds of shredded cheese and some bacon bits. lay the tots on the bottom of a deep pan and cover completely with cheese and bacon. Then bake in the oven at 375 degrees until the cheese is nice and gooey. (If you don't let the tots thaw before doing this, then cook the tots for a little while in the oven before covering with cheese and bacon.
Coleslaw, potato salad, stuffed jalapenos, cilantro lime rice, broccoli salad and a homemade bean dip are all super easy to make in a short amount of time.
And if all else fails bring some good alcohol and no one will notice your missing side dish or dessert :D. Have a safe and fun Super Bowl everyone!
