Confidence is Main Ingredient
There's a little shortening. A little sugar. There's some flour. Depending how "soupy" your mix is, makes the difference on when you quit adding flour.
Mom said she added 2 cups of flour.
You are still on your own.
Sour milk is made by putting milk in a cup and adding vinegar to it.
Cookie Cutters
Those sharp, animal shaped cutters are what she used. She just happened to have a bunny shape.
Rollable Dough
The dough needs to be firm enough to flatten with a rolling pin. You can roll the dough on flour. Flour your pin as well. Steer clear of sticky.
The frosting is melted butter, powdered sugar, food coloring, and a minute amount of milk.
So. Mix dough. Flatten. Cut shape. Throw excess back in bowl. Squish back together.
This takes a while. Bake at 375 degrees. Watch them. They don't take long to bake. Minutes. Your goal is lightly golden brown.
