Step 6 through step 7

Put the pudding shots in little containers. Depending on how much you put in the container (and how much you sample) will determine how many shots you get. out of one batch.

Put the pudding shots in little containers. Depending on how much you put in the container (and how much you sample) will determine how many shots you get. out of one batch.

  1. Get out your medium sized mixing bowl. Pour in the pudding mix. For the one I am doing in the pictures, I used Chocolate pudding.
  2. Add 3/4 cup of milk and whisk together until it is at a soft stage (where the pudding is starting to set). This will take 1 to 2 minutes of whisking.
  3. Once the pudding and the milk have been mixed together, add the alcohol and the cream liquor. For my pudding shots, I used UV Cake Vodka and O'Dowd's Irish Cream. When mixed together, I call this my Chocolate Cake Pudding Shots. Whisk all ingredients together.
  4. Once the alcohol has been mixed in, fold in the cool whip. This is easiest done with a rubber spatula, but that isn't necessary. Just be sure to mix well so all parts are equal. If you don't mix well there will be some shots that are really strong and others that taste like nothing more than cool whip. However, don't overmix otherwise the cool whip starts to break down.
  5. Optional - Put the bowl in the fridge. This will make the substance easier to work with otherwise it gets watery if it is hot in the house or been mixed too much.
  6. Add spoonfuls to the multi-purpose mini cups with lids. I found these at Wal-mart and prefer to use them because they have the covers. This means I don't have to worry about them spilling. However, I have seen others use small Dixie Cups or disposable shot glasses. The ones with the lids transfer better.
  7. Once put in the containers, I usually freeze the batch. This keeps them nice and cold. They can be taken out of the freezer and enjoyed immediately or you can keep them out on the counter for a little bit for guests to enjoy.
  8. Lick out of container and enjoy!

Go Ahead and enjoy a Shot!

This isn't your typical shot... you can't just knock them back. So go ahead, and try to get it out of the cup!

I've never been known to have just one LOL.......:-}

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on October 03, 2012:

@ahorseback - Sure, come on over... but I am warning you... it is hard to have just one! :)

ahorseback on September 27, 2012:

Oh my God , can I come to the party !......awesome girl !

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on August 09, 2012:

@Brett.Tesol - Ah - no worries about the mess... if you put them in the freezer they are just like a fudge popsicle... yummy. I almost want to make another batch!

Brett C from Asia on August 08, 2012:

Now I have made jelly shots, and that was really popular. However, these look like they would be really fun (and messy lol) too. I like your idea.

Shared, up and fun (useful)

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on August 03, 2012:

@GoForTheJuggler - Glad you enjoyed this. I think they are pretty awesome too. Hope you get a chance to try them soon. :)

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on August 03, 2012:

@b. Malin - Oh darn - you caught me when I was flat out of pudding shots. I guess I am going to have to go ahead and make some more ;) These are super fun for any party! And super tasty as well! So I guess I should get to making those warning labels!

Joshua Patrick from Texas on August 03, 2012:

Haha, this is awesome! Thanks for sharing, barbergirl28 - voted up and across!

b. Malin on August 01, 2012:

So now we'll have to start putting Warning Labels on the Pudding Shots, ha, ha! Seriously, they sounds like Party Fun. Thanks for sharing, and I'll take a Pudding Shot Now Please!

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 25, 2012:

@SweetiePie - They are mighty tasty as well :)

SweetiePie from Southern California, USA on July 25, 2012:

This is definitely a cute idea for a party.

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 20, 2012:

@drbj - They certainly do liven up a party.... partially because suddenly you find yourself in a happier drunk mood, without even realizing it. I guess because you don't really taste the alcohol which makes them very dangerous! :)

drbj and sherry from south Florida on July 19, 2012:

Thank you, Stacy, for enlarging my sphere of knowledge. Pudding shots were news to me but they do appear to be the clue to livening up a party. And if they are made with chocolate, how could one go wrong?

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 19, 2012:

@jblais1122- Scotch and butterscotch... oh that would be a wonderful combination. I am going to keep trying other combinations to see what I come up with. So far, out of all the ones I have made, the chocolate cake one seems to be the favorite. Glad you enjoyed them! :)

jblais1122@aol from Kansas City, Missouri, USA on July 17, 2012:

Awesome, I just came back from a family reunion where one of my cousins provided pudding shots of various flavors, very good. Some of my kids gave me a late birthday bottle of scotch. My cousin and I invented "double scotch, butterscotch, floats" using the butter scotch pudding shots and real scotch. Awesome, I say again.

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 17, 2012:

@Mhatter99 - Glad you enjoyed it. Hope you get to try them soon! :)

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 17, 2012:

@carol7777 - The great thing is... these can probably be made without the alcohol and taste just as good. Imagine adding them to a pie crust and freezing them. They will be like yummy fudgsicles! Thanks for stopping by. Maybe you will get a chance to try the virgin Pudding shots one day!

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 17, 2012:

@mythicalstorm273 - Well at least you tried... and if that is the case, I will never ask you to try them again! :) You can have the child version with Abby and Bella and Max! :)

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 17, 2012:

@twinstimes2 - Thanks! I hope you enjoy :)

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 17, 2012:

@Ruchira - Here's hoping that you get invited to a party soon... or tell someone that you will make these if they throw a party... or... heck, just make them and call it dessert! :)

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 17, 2012:

@Nell Rose - Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the photos. We had lots of fun taking them... with the help of the pudding shots of course! :)

Martin Kloess from San Francisco on July 17, 2012:

Thank you for sharing this adventure into pudding

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 17, 2012:

@LisaKoski - These are delicious. Hope you enjoy them! :)

carol stanley from Arizona on July 17, 2012:

I like the chocolate idea. Not sure about slurping alcoholic beverage. However why knock it if I have never tried it. It is a creative idea.

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 17, 2012:

@TToombs08 - I am a big fan of fudgesicles so these are outstanding. I think you can taste the alcohol in the Jello shots a little bit more. Funny I just made some Jello Shots last weekend. Sadly - I did not take any pictures! I don't know where my head was. I guess I am going to need to make them again! :)

mythicalstorm273 on July 17, 2012:

Barbergirl: I have tried them and believe it or not... I can taste the alcohol. Everybody kept telling me I couldn't so they made me try a few different flavors. Still didn't like them! I could do kid shots though :-) Abby and I will clink or kid glasses and eat them right up!

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 17, 2012:

@Jeannieinabottle - It is absolutely the greatest idea ever ;) I actually have some in my freezer. Might have one tonight! :) Hope you enjoy them!

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 17, 2012:

@RealHousewife - At my parties.... these are the main course! LOL And those are some good parties lol

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 17, 2012:

@mythicalstorm273 - You barely taste the alcohol in these... so I bet you would love them, until you fell over. Maybe I will make a kid version and let you try them. I know Abby would like one! :)

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 17, 2012:

Just Ask Susan - These are so amazing... but I have to say though, they will hit you fast so they are also dangerous. You don't really taste the alcohol in them and you can do one after another. Next thing you know - your drunk! Yikes! Enjoy!

Stacy Harris (author) from Hemet, Ca on July 17, 2012:

@moonlake - The Cake UV vodka is really good but I don't know if I have ever made them with regular vodka before... now that I am racking my brain. I really like them with amaretto though! Yummy! :)

Karen Lackey from Ohio on July 17, 2012:

Yummy idea!

Ruchira from United States on July 17, 2012:

awesome idea, Stacy.

Now, gotta get myself invited to a party and then make these pudding shots :)

Lisa from WA on July 17, 2012:

I'd never heard of pudding shots before. Definitely going to give it a try!

Terrye Toombs from Somewhere between Heaven and Hell without a road map. on July 17, 2012:

These look way better than jello shots! Chocolate, alcohol...it doesn't get much better than THAT! :) Awesome recipe and hub, barbergirl! :)

Jeannie Marie from Baltimore, MD on July 17, 2012:

This is only the greatest idea for shots EVER! I am so doing this. Thanks for the recipe!
