My Mouthwatering Chili Recipe

Thanks to my father, I'm a big foodie who's been cooking and baking since I was a young girl. Cooking is a passion that brings me joy.

My Infamous Mouthwatering Chili

My Infamous Mouthwatering Chili

Mouthwatering Chili

This is my easy and delicious recipe for a meat chili. I've tried many chili recipe's in my time and this is my 'go to' choice. My family loves the combination of fresh vegetables, spices and beef. Try this tasty recipe for your family and you can be sure it will become one of their favorite meals. It's a great choice during the cold winter months, although anytime is a good excuse to make homemade chili.

Definition of Chili

Chili con Carne: commonly known in American English as simply "chili", is a spicy stew containing chili peppers, meat (usually beef), and often tomatoes and beans. Other seasonings may include garlic, onions, and cumin. Geographic and personal tastes involve different types of meat and ingredients. Recipes provoke disputes among aficionados, some of whom insist that the word "chili" applies only to the basic dish, without beans and tomatoes. Chili con Carne is a frequent dish for cook-offs and is used as an ingredient in other dishes.

My pleasure Lady E-It's easy and fun to make. Just a bit of chopping but I find that relaxing. I appreciate you coming by and checking out my recipe for Chili.

Beth37 on January 22, 2014:

Not at all. Especially not in chili. :)

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on January 22, 2014:

Never heard of it but I should try it sometime. I bet the kids wouldn't even notice the sub.

No, I like ground chix, but Ive never been fond of ground turkey. I use something called "meal starter" it's a ground beef sub.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on January 21, 2014:

Hi Beth-I've used substitutes too and it's just as nummy. Do you happen to use turkey? just wondering. Hope you have a great dinner my friend.

Beth37 on January 21, 2014:

Oh my gosh, I have to have chili tonight now, thanks to you. lol

I use a ground beef substitute, but it works just the same. :)

Hi CraftytotheCore-Wow, you are so blessed to have warm weather at this point-although not as hot and humid. In Minnesota we've had chilly weather and lots of rain. Today is the first day I've seen the sun in many days and I am so excited. I think it's gonna be in the 70's. Woo Hoo! I'm out in my convertible today and the top is down :-) Thanks so much for coming by and checking out my chili recipe. I really appreciate it. It's really delicious!

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on October 07, 2013:

Hi Gail-it's awesome to see you my friend. Thanks for checking out my chili recipe. I've been doing a lot of cooking lately because it's been so chilly in Minnesota. Thanks for all the votes and sharing. Your the best my friend.

CraftytotheCore on October 07, 2013:

That does look delicious! It's very similar to the way my grandmother made hers. I've made it a few times but can't seem to perfect hers. I used to look forward to fall for making chili. Now here it is October 7 and is so humid and hot outside. Normally around here this would at least be sweatshirt/lightweight coat weather. We're having salad tonight. Everyone is in short sleeves. The dogs don't even want to go out because they are so hot.

Gail Sobotkin from South Carolina on October 07, 2013:

Wow! Your chili looks so delicious that it got my taste buds watering.

Thanks for sharing this recipe. I love chili on cool days. We're still having a summer heat wave in fall, so I'll wait awhile before trying this recipe out.

Voted up across the board except for funny and shared.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on September 30, 2013:

Dianna Mendez on September 29, 2013:

It is that time of year again and I have already enjoyed a few cups of chili. Your photos make your recipe look very yummy. I can't wait to try it next time we hit a cold spell in Florida... heck, I can't wait that long -- I will probably just make it this weekend!

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on September 24, 2013:

Thanks Jackie-if you think about it, the chips make sense as it's kind of a form of taco's. I use to have french bread with it but honestly, my family likes this better. I really appreciate you coming by and thanks for the votes and sharing :-) Have a great week

Jackie Lynnley from the beautiful south on September 22, 2013:

This looks and sounds delicious. You know I have never thought to have scoop chips with chili, I know that would be so good and fun to eat. Not having to bake cornbread would be nice too, thanks! Up and sharing.

Aww, thanks Billy. I too love chili and stew during the fall and winter months. Something so soothing about it as well as tasty. Let me know when you try it-it's so good. Are you a veggie lover? If so, this is the perfect Chili recipe for you. Not everyone likes veggies or if they do, not in their chili. Big Hug right back to you my friend. Have a great week! The weather is going to be perfect in Minnesota. Sunny with a little bite in the air, just the way I like it. (and my dogs too ) :-)

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on September 22, 2013:

One look at it and I was sold. We just made stew today; that and chili are my favorite winter meals. You can bet I'll be trying this recipe. Thanks my friend.
