Gathering the First Four Ingredients
Crumbs, to Clarify
Hereto, crumbs refers to what you plan to use as binder. The choices are varied: cracker crumbs, stuffing mix, croutons, sauteed buttered bread cubes. I used 1/4 cup Stovetop stuffing, chopped fine in a mini chopper.
Stuffing Chopped Fine
At this point, I'm looking at my pictures, and thinking, hmmm, where am I. So, I have mixed the cocktail sauce, sat it aside.
I have mixed the egg, onion, seasoned salt, pepper, burger, crumbs. Now, I have to mix the cocktail sauce mixture into the ground beef mixture.
Okay. Mixed in. It looks sloppy, but surprisingly enough, I am able to take an ice cream scoop and make balls, which I am setting on an aluminum foil lined baking pan.
Okay. I made the balls. Spaced them out. Put them in oven. Center rack.
Now, in the event you were lazy and had just made a meatloaf, cook for at least an hour. But, since you worked so hard on making all these teeny, tiny little meatballs, cook for about 20 minutes.
They need to be 160 degrees. Minimum. I used a temperature probe.
The flavor of these balls is amazing. They are sweet, tangy, and quite delicious. We couldn't taste the horseradish.
My hubby said that he wished he would have thought of the recipe about forty years sooner, so he could have eaten them on a regular basis. He also got heartburn. I didn't.

Very interesting Char. We need a similar type of recipe but we make the balls out of vegetables and soya chunks . This is very interesting and very succinctly explained by you.THanks

I sometimes make a similar kind of meal but not sweet and sour. Sounds like I have to try this recipe. Thank you
