I love to create and share nutritious recipes with the world.
- 300 g beef liver
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 tbsp chopped ginger
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp pepper powder
Wash the beef liver by immersing it in water mixed with turmeric. Drain the excess water.
Chop the beef liver into bite-sized pieces. Wash it once again in turmeric water. This not only cleanses away the impurities but also enhances the flavour of the beef when cooked.
Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped onions and saute. Add the ginger, garlic and green chilli. Stir it all in. Add salt to taste. Saute till the onions turn translucent. Now, add the red chilli powder and turmeric powder. Mix all the spices in with the onions.
Add the chopped beef liver and stir it into the contents of the pan. To this, add the coriander powder and pepper powder. Mix them all in. Let the beef liver cook completely. This usually takes 5-8 min in high flame. Once the beef liver is fully cooked, taste and adjust the salt and pepper if needed. Transfer the contents to a bowl and serve.
- I used the 4 peppercorn blend variety of pepper powder. This enhanced the flavour of the meal.
- Make fresh coriander powder at home to give this meal a fresh flavour. To do this, roast coriander seeds and powder them in a spice grind compatible blender.
- Heme-iron, the readily absorbable form of dietary iron is abundant in red meat, especially in the liver portion. This is greatly beneficial to prevent and treat iron-deficiency anaemia.
