Gamers Cocktail, How to Make a Nuka Cola Quantum From Fallout

Alcohol entusiast since age of 18 (my countrys legal age) and self-educated mixologist.

Nuka Cola is the only choice for drinks in the post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Nuka Cola Quantum if you desire the pinnacle of taste sensation.

Now you can enjoy it with vodka.

First, some words about the Nuka Cola.

Nuka Cola is a soft drink, featured in the fictional Fallout universe. In 2044, John-Caleb Bradberton founded the Nuka-Cola Corporation by inventing the Nuka Cola. When released, the soft drink quickly gained fame and became the go-to drink nationwide. 23 years later, in 2067, a vending machine that didn't sell Nuka Cola was hard to find. What gives the Nuka Cola the signature taste is the taste of seventeen fruits blended in just the right proportion.

2077, the Quantum hit the shelves. According to the advertisement, it had: "twice the calories, twice the carbohydrates, twice the caffeine and twice the taste". What made it literally stand out with its blue glow was the adding of a mild strontium. Pomegranate was also added to the taste.

What you got was a glowing drink that gave you a real energy boost.

Unfortunatly, 2077 was the year when the bombs rained from the sky. Due to this, there is a great shortages of the Nuka Cola Quantum in the wasteland.

And that rarity, makes it more delicious.

Storytime aside

It's not hard to find out how to make the Nuka Cola Quantum at home with Cool-Aid and such. But it's next to impossible to find an alcoholic drink based on the Nuka Cola Quantum. And I know there is some nerds and Fallout/post-apocalyptic entusiasts out there. I am one of them.

The criteria are the following: many fruit flavors at once, one of them should be pomegranate, and a toxic blue color. But you can't just go bananas with juices, food coloring and liquor.

A gentlemen or lady with such good taste in video-game should never mix together some random things and call it a drink. But don't sweat it, I have done the dirty-work for you.

  • 1 ounce / 3 cl blueberry vodka
  • 1 ounce / 3 cl (blue) orange vodka
  • 1 ounce / 3 cl blue curacao
  • 1 dash grenadine
  • 1 dash blue food coloring
  • 1 dash absinthe (optional)

To top it of:

  • Sprite™
  • Mountain Dew™
  • icecubes
  • (optional) tonic water

  1. Fill up a shaker with ice. If you don't have a shaker, use a glas with no ice.
  2. Pour the liquor, grenadine and food coloring in the shaker/glas. If you want the drink softer or stronger, go for it. Just remember to ad equal parts to the mix. Use rather more than less food color to fade out the deep red from the grenadine. Too mush and it will get dark, but rather that than the violet shade with too less.
  3. Shake the shaker. Or if you go for the glass option, stir well with a spoon.
  4. Take your good highball glas and 2-3 icecubes. Pour over the mix and strain out the cubes from the mixer.
  5. Pop open a can of Sprite and Mountain Dew each. Pour equal amount into the glas until it's filled. If you have access to UV-light. Fill the glas 3/4 with Sprite and Mountain Dew. Fill the rest with tonic water. (Because tonic water contains quinine, it glows in UV-light).
  6. Enjoy!

Want some food for the drink?

Maybe try: BlamCo Mac & Cheese, Insta-Mash, Fancy Lads Snack Cakes

Fallout is packed to the brim with interesting consumable food. And some of them is fairly easy obtainable and loved even by non-Fallout-lover.

For your next party or gaming session, whipe out som instant mac & cheese for the "BlamCo Mac & Cheese", instant mashed potato for the "Insta-Mash" or some factory-baked cookies for the "Fancy Lads Snack Cakes".

Let your imagination free and think och how you can bring the food from the games to life. But if you intend to bring your friends over, make sure they are all in for "Squirrel on a stick". Otherwise you might get some funny looks from them.

Tonic water and absinthe

As Milo, the shipping foreman says about Nuka Cola Quantum: "With its new Strontium additive, it's got that unique kick to keep you on your toes", you need that something in the mix that also can ad "that unique kick". How about the green fairy, absinthe? The high percentage and the rumor about absinthe contains hallucinogenic herbs might give the drinker "that unique kick". Or maybe try an energy drink.

Tonic water is a carbonated soft drink flavored with quinine. The formula was first invented as a medicine for malaria, but later evolved to be a beloved part of the everyday bartenders cabinet. Quinine under UV-light fluoresces.

Cuba Vodka from Denmark

If you can get your hands on it, I recommend this fine danish vodka "Cuba Vodka".

It's a vodka distilled for the fun people that likes to party. A great ingredient in drinks and cocktails.

Unfortunatly, I don't think they export. So globaly, the bottles are rare (like the Nuka Cola Quantum in the wasteland).
