How to Make Macaroni and Cheese in the Crockpot (without pre-cooking)

Making Homemade Macaroni and Cheese

Who doesn't love homemade macaroni and cheese ! This crock-pot macaroni and cheese recipe is so easy and unlike many similar recipes, it doesn't require cooking the macaroni noodles first.


2 cups of whole milk (can use 2%, 1%, or skim if you prefer)

1 can of evaporated milk (12 oz.)

1 2/3 cups of cheddar cheese (sharp)

2 teaspoons of salt

1 egg

1/2 teaspoon of pepper

2 cups of elbow macaroni (uncooked)

1/4 cup softened butter

First you want to take the butter and spread it in your crock-pot on the bottom and sides. In a bowl mix together all ingredients except the elbows and cheese. Pour into the crock-pot, and add the cheese and elbows, stir gently.

Cook on low for 3 -4 hours, serve right away.

Goodness this looks delicious and so straight forward. I have such a weak spot for mac and cheese, but have never mastered a home made recipe. I will have to give this a try.

I'll have to give it a try. I loved my mom's mac & cheese. She did it in the oven and the cheese on top was crispy... my favorite part. That's the biggest concern I'd have with the crock pot - losing out on the crispy layer of cheese on top.
