Ingredients

Cake Base:

  • 133gm Oreo cookies, remove cream and crushed
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Cake Body:

  • 200gm Tatura cream cheese
  • 150gm Beryl dark chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon condensed milk

Ganache:

  • 20gm Beryl dark chocolate
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon Emborg whipping cream

Prepping Instructions

  1. Firstly, remove the cream from the Oreo cookies and save it up for the body of the cake.
  2. Place the Oreo cookies into a Ziploc bag and smash it using a rolling pin until it is reduced into fine crumbs. Transfer the Oreo crumbs into a bowl.
  3. Melt the butter and pour it into the bowl of Oreo crumbs and mix well.
  4. Prepare a cake mold of about 9" tall and 16" wide and layer it with a sheet of baking paper moistened with melted butter. Pour the Oreo crumbs and layer them uniformly.
  5. Put the Oreo crumbs into the oven heated to 302 F and bake for 10 minutes.
  6. While the Oreo crumbs are baking, get your cake body ready. Start with a clean bowl, put the cream cheese, Oreo cookie cream, and condensed milk together and mix well.
  7. On a stove, prepare a pot with water and put it to a boil. Get a bowl that will fit just snugly on top of the pot and place the chocolate bar into the bowl to melt it.
  8. Once the chocolate melts, allow it to cool slightly before pouring into the cream cheese mixture. Mix until the chocolate combines with the cream cheese without any lumpy texture.
  9. Retrieve the cake base from the oven and let it cool. Once the mold is not hot to the touch, pour the chocolate cream cheese mixture into the mold and shape it using a spatula.
  10. Cling wrap the mold and put it into the refrigerator for about an hour to solidify.
  11. On the final 10 minute mark before removing the cake from the refrigerator, prepare your ganache by melting dark chocolate with whipping cream.
  12. Bring the cake out and remove it from the mold onto a plate. Pour the ganache over it. Swirl the plate and let the ganache coat the entire cake nicely
  13. Pop the cake back into the fridge for another 10 – 20 minutes until the ganache solidifies.
  14. Retrieve the cake, slice, and serve. Enjoy!

Additional serving suggestions

For the chocoholics who want to up the intensity, you may sprinkle some unsweetened cocoa powder on top of the cake, which helps to tone down the sweetness at the same time

This dessert may be made of simple ingredients but do not be fooled by its appearance. One slice will get you hooked and asking for seconds and maybe even more. Hence, do proceed with caution as you might get addicted to this sinfully rich and luxurious treat. It is not just the richness of the chocolate but the experience of having a plethora of textures just playing inside your mouth. The simple base of baked Oreo cookies with butter offers a solid crunch, whilst the thick chocolate and cream cheese combination just melt in your mouth. The ganache seals the deal by giving a hint of a luscious silky mouthful in every bite.

This chocolate Oreo cheesecake is not just a dessert to us. It bears a significance of a life full of promises; it reminds both my wife and me to appreciate life and to take our time relishing the different phases in life just like how we would enjoy the slice of cake and note the rich flavor and varied textures. We realize that when a good thing comes, we ought to take the time to relish it. Nonetheless, when we feel the need for a pick-me-up at the end of the week, we find comfort in taking our time with the dessert and enjoying each other's company while savoring a generous portion of chocolate Oreo cheesecake. You can try it out for yourselves and see if it works!
