Funnel Cake (Jalebi) most popular Pakistani desserts

Funnel Cake is a popular and traditional dessert, often served at all Pakistani festivals, or special events. It is like a funnel cake dipped in rich, sugary syrup. These delicate, watery, mouth-watering delicacies may seem difficult to prepare, but they are very easy to make. Nothing strange at all. I have memories of eating a hot new funnel cake in the morning almost every weekend. Growing up, the weekend blocks contained a warm cake bought in the store as delicious. Jalebis is like a funnel cake but these eggless ones are made with a few basic ingredients such as flour, yogurt, salt, and a little baking soda.

There’s a nice treat that keeps it well and designed for maintenance. Then there is the dessert that you need to enjoy. The fun cake falls into a new fun phase! The main funnel cake is served warm. These delicious little sticky foods are the stuff of dreams. It is concentrated circles or whatever shape you like, these are fried and then dipped in delicious sugar syrup. It’s deliciously sweet and full of sweet-smelling syrup this taste is just right coming out of the pan even the old day.

Ingredients

For Sugar Syrup:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 2-3 green cardamom
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice

For Funnel Cake:

  • 2-3 teaspoons lukewarm water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon yeast
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon orange food color, or as required
  • 1 tablespoon butter, (melted)
  • 1 tablespoon gram flour
  • Water as required

For Frying:

  • Oil as required

Instructions

  1. For sugar syrup: In a pot, add water, green cardamom, and sugar, mix it and cook until syrup thickens.
  2. Now add lemon juice, stir well, and set aside.
  3. Sugar syrup is ready.
  4. For funnel cake: In lukewarm water, add instant yeast and sugar, mix and let it sit for 15 minutes.
  5. In a bowl add flour, melted butter, orange food color, yeast mixture, gram flour, water and make a batter of desired consistency. Rest for 10 minutes and eat immediately (within 10-15 minutes).
  6. Now pour this batter into a sneeze bottle.
  7. In a frying pan, oil and squeeze the bottle and make centric rings with the batter.
  8. When one side is cooked, turn and fry the other side.
  9. After frying, immediately put the fried funnel cake in the sugar syrup. The sugar syrup should be slightly warmed when you put a funnel cake in it.
  10. Turn around for a minute so that both sides are wrapped in syrup.
  11. Keep the sugar syrup for about 2-3 minutes.
  12. Remove the funnel cake with the help of a tong and stir slightly to allow the excess sugar syrup.
  13. The funnel cake is ready to serve.

Urwa, your recipe sounds delicious. I have tried making Jalebi many times. I am always bad at spiraling. But taste was always good. Thanks for sharing it dear sister

One thing I want to ask you, should I call you or Urwa or Iqra? Both of the names are beautiful.

Blessings to you and yours
