How To Make Garlicky Oven Fries

You can make these delicious garlicky oven fries quickly and easily. I usually use large potatoes that I have scrubbed well with a kitchen brush under cold running water. This removes all the dirt.

I then cut them up into about eight wedges each and soak them in ice water where I have the potato wedges, water, and ice. I soak the potato wedges for an hour and then I drain them and dry them very well with paper towels. This removes a lot of the starch from the potatoes.

You'll want to adjust your oven rack to the lowest position possible and heat your oven up to 450 degrees.

Ingredients Needed For Your Garlicky Oven Fries.

1. Three large white potatoes cut into eight wedges each. You will want to cut about eight wedges from each potato.

2. Two tablespoons of fresh minced garlic.

3. Two tablespoons corn starch.

4. One tablespoon ground sea salt.

5. One teaspoon ground garlic powder.

6. One teaspoon ground black pepper.

7. Six tablespoons vegetable oil.

I line a baking pan with the new baking paper that has parchment paper on one side and tin foil on the other side. I put the parchment paper side up in the pan with the tin foil side down.

I put the well drained and dried potato wedges in a large bowl and then I mix in all the rest of the ingredients and stir very well to mix all the ingredients all over the potato wedges.

You want to put the coated potato wedges on the prepared pan in a single layer. Its okay if the potato wedges touch but you do want them to be in a single layer.

You'll want to bake your potatoes for 35 - 45 minutes turning them over once about half way through the baking time. Your going to have some of the most delicious oven fries that you have ever made in your life.

Try This Recipe With Sweet Potatoes

You can if you wish make this recipe with sweet potato wedges instead of regular white potatoes. A lot of people like these potatoes made with the sweet potatoes better than they like them made with regular white potatoes. You really need to make them both ways and see how you like them the best.

No matter how you make them if you like garlic and potatoes you'll love them. They are so delicious.

The first time you cook these be sure that your oven is truly at 450 degrees. Some ovens cook hotter than the dial says so keep a close eye on your potatoes the first time you cook them.

I almost always let my potatoes set for about 10 minutes after I take them out of the oven. I think their flavor and texture is really improved this way.

I make the potato wedges both ways and I serve them with a variety of sandwiches. When I'm serving pulled barbecue pork sandwiches I serve sweet potato wedges with the sandwiches and people just love them and I bet you would to. Try it and let me know what you think.

How To Make The Best Fries You Will Ever Eat

I've saw variations of this recipe at a lot of locations around the web and so I started working on a variation of the recipe that can easily be made and enjoyed by everyone. Let me tell you that these are the best homemade baked fries that you'll ever taste in your life. Yes I know that's saying a lot but these baked garlic fries are really that good.

Garlic Infused Olive Oil

I use minced fresh garlic and olive oil and I make my oil at least three days before I make my recipe for the baked fries so the oil will take on the flavor of the garlic. You can easily make a delicious garlic oil to keep on hand to cook with out of olive oil and minced fresh garlic. You can purchase a jar of minced fresh garlic and a bottle of olive oil at your local grocery store. But here were going to make just enough to coat your fries with.

But if you do want to make infused garlic oil you'll want a glass bottle with a stopper or a glass jar with a lid.

Here I'm going to suggest you take a half cup of olive oil and three tablespoons of minced fresh garlic and run it through your food processor or blender so that the garlic and the oil gets very well blended together. I run the blender or food processor until the oil and the garlic are pureed smooth. I then pour my garlic and oil out into a glass container and put the lid on and allow it to set for at least three days before I use it in the recipe below.

Ingredients Needed For The Best Fries You'll Ever Eat

1. One Half Cup Olive Oil.

2. Three Tablespoons Minced Fresh Garlic.

3. Four Large Potatoes Washed Well And Cut Up Into About Sixteen Wedges.

4. Four Tablespoons Cornstarch.

5. Two Tablespoons Sea Salt.

6. Two Tablespoons Freshly Ground Black Pepper.

7. One Teaspoon Garlic Powder.

8. One Level Teaspoon Ground Cayenne Pepper.

Instructions For Making The Best Fries Ever.

Now you'll want to start by heating your oven to 400 degrees.

Pour your prepared garlic infused oil out into a large bowl and stir well. Be sure that your garlic oil is at room temperature when you pour it out into the large bowl.

Now you'll want to toss your potato wedges in the garlic oil being sure that your potatoes get very well coated with the garlic oil.

Pour the potatoes into a large microwave safe bowl and cover tightly with plastic wrap. Microwave your potato wedges on high for six minutes to precook the potato wedges.

Meantime combine the cornstarch, cayenne pepper, sea salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.

Pour your potatoes out onto a large baking pan that you have lined with parchment paper and spread them out evenly. Sprinkle the potatoes with the corn starch, cayenne pepper, sea salt, and black pepper. Turn the potatoes over while your sprinkling the potatoes so the mixture gets sprinkled over all the potatoes. You want your potatoes to be in a single layer so they will cook evenly.

Now you'll want to bake your oven fries for 40 minutes turning the potatoes over about half way through the baking time to make sure your potatoes don't burn and so they will cook evenly. Your potato wedges should be crisp after cooking and be brown like in the photo above.

I guarantee you at this time that you'll have the best fries you'll ever eat in your life. I know that everyone I've ever made these for have absolutely loved them. I serve them with ketchup and sour creme on the side. They go wonderful with almost any meat, poultry, or seafood and as they are baked they are really healthy for you.

Over the years potatoes have gotten a really bad rap. Potatoes have been a dietery staple for centuries all over the world. Irelands diet once depended entirely on potatoes and during the great potato famine over one million people died of starvation when the potato crop was destroyed by disease and potato blight.

What most people don't know is that potatoes are packed with carbohydrates, nutrients, and dietery fiber. Some diets like the Adkins diet have declared potatoes a big no no but there is no reason for this. In moderation potatoes can and should be an a big part of your diet. Complex carbs like those found in potatoes should be a part of your diet.

Its not really the potatoes that people should avoid but all the wonderful things that people add to potatoes like butter, sour creme, cheese and various other delicious things. Why not have a large baked potato stuffed with steamed broccoli and a large tablespoon of low fat yogurt. You can if you wish also add salt and pepper to the mix.

You should keep in mind that boiled and baked potatoes are good for you while deep fried ones aren't. Try making the recipes above for oven baked fries and I think you'll find that yes they are delicious and they really are a healthy food choice.

You can try making mashed potatoes with low fat sour creme, broccolli, low fat milk, and chives. You can grow chives in a container on your patio and you won't believe how delicious fresh chives can be in a baked potato until you give them a try.

You can try serving boiled potatoes with salsa, or steamed broccolli and just a little cheese. Try using ground sea salt instead of regular table salt for a delightfully delicious and tasty treat.

Potatoes are a great source of vitamin C, calcium, potassium, folate, and magnesium. And all of those minerals and vitamins are really good for you.

A Great Baked Potato Recipe

You can have really great baked potatoes and keep them healthy for you.

You want to start out with two pounds of red or white potatoes and you will want to scrub the potatoes clean with a kitchen brush under cold running water. Then cut the potatoes up in small slices and leave the skins on the potatoes.

Put your sliced up potatoes in a large bowl and to the bowl add two tablespoons of olive oil, a tablespoon of minced fresh garlic and two tablespoons of fresh very finely chopped rosemary. Add salt and pepper to taste. Spray a large baking pan with vegetable cooking spray and then spread your prepared potatoes out on the baking pan and cook in a 375 degree hot oven on the middle rack for 30 - 35 minutes. About half way through the baking time flip your potatoes over. You'll end up with some of the most delicious potatoes you'll ever eat. Yes they really are that good.
