I like walking downtown with my husband on Sunday because most of the stores and restaurants closed. It is one of the best times to get away from a crowd. However, there are a few cafes and local eateries open for a Sunday brunch. One of them is Eva's Bakery. It serves some of the best french pastries, bread, muffins, and much more.
Warm and Cozy
As soon as we entered the cafe, the ambiance was still calm. We greeted by the server and she guided us to the table. Quickly she presented us with the menu. Whilst waiting for the server to take our orders, my eyes lingered studying the interior. I like the tables and seat setting. It has a Parisian expression. Then, my eyes moved to the paintings, drawings, and small decorations on the wall. All have a significant devotion to the city of light. Overall, this cafe is warm and cozy.
The Food Selection
The selection of food at the cafe is excellent. There are so many to choose from grilled cheese panini, croissant sandwich, eggs Benedict, French frittata, salads, soups, and many others. My palate was craving for something sweet. Therefore, I chose a stuffed french toast with lemon cream cheese filling and blueberries compote. In the meantime, my husband decided to try the sauteed spinach with baked eggs and potatoes. We also ordered a cappuccino and an espresso.
Fortunately, my husband and I were the earliest customers. So the food came fast. Guess what? The food was delicious! Take a look at the photo, don't say you didn't want that! The french toast bread was thick but surprisingly it was very light. The combination of the sweetness and the sourness from cream and blueberries compote were perfect. My husband also loved his food. By the way, the coffee was good too.
Before leaving the cafe, I can't stop to glimpse into the front counter. Oh, my God, they have a variety of fresh-baked pastries. The croissants, buns, loaves of bread, muffins, and cookies all look so pleasurable inside the food container. My husband was approaching me and said, "Which one you'd choose?" I smile. I picked a sticky bun with pecans on top.
Here is a tip. If you want to beat the crowd, try to come early. Eva's Bakery is a high-recommended boulangerie to go to downtown Salt Lake City.
Note: Eva's Bakery opens Monday through Saturday (7.00 P.M till 6.00 P.M)
Sunday Brunch (9.00 P.M till 3.00 P.M)
1. The Boulangerie's Interior
I love the interior. As soon as you step in, you will see beautiful decorative tiles. The furniture set in the cafe is perfect for a small cafe like Eva's. Apart from the small table (enough to accommodate two people), there is a larger and cozy seat to accommodate a larger group of customers. As I begin to sit, my eyes were studying the interior. The wall decorations are simple but, enough to make you feel you were in Paris.
2. The Menu
Eva's Bakery serves a great food selection for breakfast and lunch. I decided to try a stuffed french toast with lemon cream cheese filling and blueberry compote. My husband picked a delicious breakfast food; a sauteed spinach with baked eggs, and fried potatoes. The food was utterly delicious! In the meantime, we also have ordered a cappuccino, an espresso shot, and coffee with cream.
3. The Baked Goods
The baked goods look so tempting and inviting. Actually, you can see the french pastries such as croissant, macarons, pain au chocolat, and much more at the front counter. I decided that I can't lave this place with empty-handed. There are so many good-looking pastries in the food container. Honestly, I can't imagine myself working at this place. So, I chose a sticky bun with pecans on top. Look at that brown sticky bun! Oh my gosh, the bun was so soft and the sticky toffee was delicious.

I love Eva's Bakery. They have some tasty patisseries I ever had. My husband and I used to go to the bakery for brunch. However, we postpone eating outside since Covid-19. I highly recommended for you to visit the bakery should you return to SLC, Peggy.

This restaurant in Salt Lake City has a charming appearance, and judging from what you wrote about the food, and the photos you showed us, it would definitely be on my wish list should I ever return to Salt Lake City.
