Healthy Japanese Shakes and Smoothies

Kiwi Smoothie

This is A very simple but healthy and tasty smoothie, anyone can make it and all you need is the below:


1 - Kiwi

1/2 - Banana

A large tablespoon of plain yogurt

100-150 cc of soy milk

All you need to do is put the ingredients into a mixer and blend until smooth!!! simple.If the kiwi is too tangy then simply add more yogurt to even out the flavor.

For the summer, if you freeze the fruits, you will get more of a shake texture.

Amazake Banana Soya Milk shake

A Healthy drink with a kick in the flavor which can snap you out of tiredness. Amazake is a very sweet low or non alcohol Japanese sake made from rice and is a common ingredient in Japanese food.


Amazake - 100cc

Soy Milk - according to taste and thickness

1 - Banana

1 teaspoon of lemon juice

Empty all the ingredients into a mixer ready container and aim to fill to around 400cc. Then using the mixer, blend all ingredients into a smooth texture. Transfer into a glass and enjoy.

The ratio of the lemon juice and banana has a big effect on the resulting color. Also the amount of Amazake you put it will make quite a different in the taste.

Cold / Flu Prevention Shake

This is a delicious special shake that include Echinacea extracts to strengthen your immune system against the cold or flu virus.

Ingredients: (For 1 person)

Cranberry juice - 150cc

Echinacea extract - 5cc

Yogurt - 150cc

Honey - 1 Tea sppon

Frozen Blueberries - 2 Large tablesppons

Basically, mix all the ingredients together until smooth. Milk or even orange juice can be added for a different taste. It is the combination of the Cranberries and the Echinacea extract which is what protects you from cold and flu viruses.









Simple banana shake with chocolate topping

A delicious shake for when the summer heats gets you down. Add this to your diet for an instant energy boost for the day.

Ingredients (For 2 people)

2 x Bananas

Small amount of lemon juice

Milk 300-400cc

Plain chocolate


1. Cut the banana into chunks and then freeze.

2. Put the frozen banana, lemon juice, milk, 3-4 ice cubes, (and honey if you like) into a blend and mix until smooth.

3. Melt some chocolate in a microwave

4. Finally - pour the shake into a glass and pour the melted chocolate over the top. The chocolate should harden immediately.


Avocado Smoothie for Beautiful Skin

Not only is this tasty and healthy, it has a McDonald's texture to it. Perfect for both your skin texture and dieting.

Ingredients: (For 2 People)

Avocado x 1

Milk - 200ml

Sugar - amount depending on taste

Ice - Around the same as milk

Cut into and around the Avocado, finally cutting it in half, than remove the seed. The with a large spoon remove the insides. Place all the ingredients into a mixer and then blend until the ice disappears. You can then add sugar or milk for flavoring. To finish off, this can be topped with Chocolate, banana or even apple.

This is the first time I hear of smoothies being associated with Japan, but they look delicious, so maybe I'll try one or two. The avocado smoothie looks exotic, but after some time in Brazil I am no longer shocked when I see sweet recipes containing avocados
